Colorado spring football: Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig, Shedeur Sanders speak to media

Two of Colorado’s on-field leaders met with the media

A lot of new faces have joined the Colorado Buffaloes this offseason, and two of the most exciting new players met with the media on Saturday in quarterback Shedeur Sanders and safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig. Both Sanders and Silmon-Craig starred on last year’s Jackson State Tigers squad and decided to follow head coach Deion Sanders to Colorado.

Shedeur Sanders has started for his father the last two years at JSU and will be looked upon to be the leader of the offense in his first year at CU under offensive coordinator Sean Lewis. Silmon-Craig played in 25 games the last two seasons and was all over the field for the Tigers’ defense, racking up 111 tackles, four sacks, five interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Some Buffs want Colorado to keep coaching staff intact

Some Buffs players would like to see the current coaching staff remain intact

One voice that seems to be overlooked during a head coaching search is that of the players — at least from an outside perspective. While student-athletes only have a few years of eligibility, they are the ones most impacted by the decision made.

At the University of Colorado, athletic director Rick George and his search committee are currently looking for the Buffs’ next head football coach, somebody who will likely bring in fresh assistants.

But if you ask a handful of CU players, they’d like to see current members of the staff retained in hopes of having more time to learn their concepts. Freshman linebacker Devin Grant shared this sentiment on Twitter and he was retweeted by Simeon Harris, Casey Roddick, Ben Finneseth, Tommy Brown and Trent Carrizosa. Jeremy Mack, Trey Ortega and Charlie Offerdahl also liked the tweet.

It’s unlikely that Grant’s wish will come true, but interim head coach Mike Sanford and his coordinators Clay Patterson and Gerald Chatman have performed mostly well in the aftermath of Karl Dorrell leaving.

Colorado’s student section for Cal game earns a top-10 ranking

The @CUnitBuffs had one of the best student sections in college football this past week

The C-Unit has been great so far this year at Folsom Field for the Colorado Buffaloes football team and it is even catching the eyes of some in the Twitterverse.

Big Game Boomer is a podcast/YouTube page that is all things college sports. It is also a very successful Twitter page that is a fun follow for college sports fans, especially if you enjoy lists and rankings.

Each week, BGB puts together its rankings of the top 20 best/worst student sections in college football, and the Buffaloes student section showed out in Saturday’s game against Cal. Having a fan base that showed up for an 0-5 team while being as impassioned as it was is something to be proud of.

See below for where the C-Unit ranked in college football’s best student sections:
