Browns officially sign Cody Parkey, Troy Hill, 3 others

Four of the five players are returning Browns whose re-signing were previously announced

The Cleveland Browns officially added five players to the roster on Monday. The NFL processed the transactions for the free agent signings, all of which had been previously reported.

The only newcomer added is cornerback Troy Hill, who signed a two-year contract with a couple of voidable seasons as well. Hill spent the last five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.

Four Browns re-signed with the club:

  • Kicker Cody Parkey
  • WR Rashard Higgins
  • LB Elijah Lee
  • WR/KR Jojo Natson

No other Browns transactions were processed on Monday’s official transaction report. The actual contract figures for the new signings will be available shortly.

How every former Tiger performed in NFL divisional round

Carlton Davis had his best game of the season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by shutting down the Saints’ Michael Thomas.

NFL fans got to see what Auburn fans have known for quite some time: Carlton Davis can be a No. 1 corner and plays his best football against star receivers.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced off with New Orleans Saints in the divisional round of the playoffs, and Davis had one of the best games of his season in their 30-20 win.

The victory means they will move on to the championship weekend with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line. Davis isn’t the only former Tiger who is still alive. He and Jamel Dean will match up against the Green Bay Packers who have Montravious Adams on their practice squad. Duke Williams is also on the practice squad for the Buffalo Bills, who made the AFC championship game.

Here’s how every former Tiger performed in the divisional round.

How every former Tiger performed in NFL Week 16

The NFL has made it to the end of the season and some former Tiger’s are ending the year with some great football.

Despite some struggles the NFL has almost made it to the end of the 2020 season.

Week 16 saw several former Tigers make big plays in wins for their teams, while others continued to struggle.

Here is how every former Tiger did in NFL Week 16.

Watch: Cody Parkey doinks PAT on Sunday Night Football

Cody Parkey somehow found the upright from 48 on a PAT. Doink!

It must be something about NBC that haunts Cody Parkey.

The kicker who double-doinked on the Peacock in a playoff game when a Chicago Bear had bad luck on Sunday.

Jarvis Landry scored a touchdown but was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Giants head coach Joe Judge took the penalty on the PAT, forcing Parkey to try from 48, and somehow he managed to hit the upright, again.

Doink.

Parkey for the Bears against the Eagles. Doinks for the memories.

How every former Tiger performed in NFL Week 12

It was a rough weekend for former Auburn players in the NFL including Cam Newton and Carlton Davis.

Much like the Iron Bowl, it was not a great week for former Auburn players in the NFL.

Cam Newton had another tough day throwing the ball for New England and  Carlton Davis was put in a rough spot against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Here’s a look at how every former Tiger performed in NFL Week 12 games.

Browns activate Jack Conklin and Cody Parkey, elevate 2 from practice squad

Conklin and Parkey tested negative several days in a row to get activated

The Browns were busy on Saturday making adjustments to the roster for Sunday’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Cleveland activated two starters from the reserve/COVID-19 list and promoted two practice squad players to the active roster.

Right tackle Jack Conklin and kicker Cody Parkey each cleared protocols and were activated from the COVID-19 list. They were placed on the list during the week as close contacts to someone who tested positive. Conklin and Parkey had to test negative five days in a row to get activated, and both hit that benchmark on Saturday.

The Browns also elevated DE Cameron Malveaux and OL Michael Dunn from the practice squad. Malveaux and Dunn will fill the roster spots vacated by Myles Garrett and Chris Hubbard, who remain on the reserve/COVID-19 list after testing positive in the last 10 days.

4 reasons why the Browns will beat the Eagles in Week 11

4 reasons why the Cleveland Browns will beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11

The 6-3 Cleveland Browns host the 3-5-1 Philadelphia Eagles in a Week 11 game that’s an important opportunity for the Browns to stick in the crowded AFC playoff race.

Cleveland comes in off a blustery 10-7 win over the Houston Texans in a subtropical depression at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Eagles lost to the New York Giants, 27-17, blowing a golden opportunity to run away and hide with the lowly NFC East title.

The Browns are favored to win at home. And they should feel good about their chances to come up victorious, even with the unfortunate late-breaking news that Myles Garrett will miss the game due to COVID-19.

Browns add 3 more players to reserve/COVID-19 list

The Browns now have five active players on the reserve/COVID-19 list

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rear its unwelcome head with the Cleveland Browns. Three more Browns players were placed on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday.

Starting right tackle Jack Conklin, long snapper Charley Hughlett and kicker Cody Parkey were placed on the list. They join offensive lineman Chris Hubbard and fullback Andy Janovich on the list. The Browns shut down team facilities on both Friday and Monday due to positive tests.

Hubbard is the only player who has verified that he tested positive for COVID-19. Players can be placed on the list if they either test positive or were in close contact with a confirmed positive person. Those who did not test positive can be activated after five straight days of negative tests, as happened with Baker Mayfield earlier this season.

A missed late PAT from Browns’ Cody Parkey was a horrible bad beat for bettors

Oh noooooo!

Cody Parkey’s redemption from the double-doink of 2018 (reminder: it was blocked!) has included stops with the Tennessee Titans and, now, the Cleveland Browns.

But the kicker once again was the target of NFL ire when it came to bettors, at least those who put money down on the Browns winning by at least 3.5 points.

Thanks to an absolutely awesome touchdown throw by Baker Mayfield to Donovan Peoples-Jones with 11 seconds left on Sunday, the Browns went up by three and clinched a win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Parkey lined up to kick the extra point, which would have sealed a win for Browns -3.5 bettors … and he pushed it juuuust wide:

While it’s easier to miss PATs these days, that’s still a bad beat. Bettors were mad:

GAHHH!

For once, a Cody Parkey doink goes his way

Cody Parkey has garnered a reputation for doinking the football, and he was at it again with the Browns…with a different, winning result.

It would be nice not to have to continue to talk about Cody Parkey, but he continues to do things that bear the very thing.

The former Chicago Bears kicker has garnered a reputation around the league following his infamous double doink, which cost the Bears a postseason victory back in 2018.

But even before the double doink, Parkey was making a name for himself in doinking the football off the upright. Parkey hit the upright four — yes, four — times on two missed field goals and two missed extra points in a regular-season win against the Detroit Lions on Nov. 11, 2018.

Parkey, who has found a new opportunity with the Cleveland Browns, was at it again on Sunday. Parkey’s 46-yard field goal attempt doinked off the left upright before bouncing in to extend the Browns’ lead to 32-23 with 0:21 left.

It was the first time one of Parkey’s doinks benefitted him, which makes it all the more frustrating considering the pain that came with the doink heard ’round the world.

Parkey’s stint in Cleveland has been encouraging at the start, where he’s connected on all four field goals and all 14 extra points through four games with the Browns this season.
