247Sports names this Ohio State football player as a transfer candidate

Is it too early to this this could be the case? #GoBucks

The college football season is just over halfway through, and there is already talk about which [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] players could be on the move.

I’m guilty of this thinking as well. I postulated that running back [autotag]Dallan Hayden[/autotag] could potentially move on, due to the staff’s unwillingness to use him when he’s clearly one of the better backs on the roster.

[autotag]Clint Brewster[/autotag] of 247Sports looked around the country at which quarterbacks could be on the move and he named Buckeye backup [autotag]Devin Brown[/autotag] as a potential transfer. The rationale is simple. Brewster explains that “after giving it his best shot, Brown is likely to hit the transfer portal and look elsewhere for greener pastures and a featured role.”

If this does come to fruition, Ohio State’s quarterback room isn’t barren. The Buckeyes will have Lincoln Kienholz in his second season and true freshman Air Noland. You’d have to expect a depth transfer similar to what we saw this offseason with the addition of [autotag]Tristan Gebbia[/autotag].

Texas A&M OC Bobby Petrino ranked as one of the Top 15 quarterback developers

Texas A&M OC Bobby Petrino has been rightfully dubbed one of the Top 15 QB developers by 247Sports’ Clint Brewster.

The “quarterback guru” stamp in college football has been passed around cyclically as the position has progressed due to prospects already possessing the arm talent and duel-threat ability in droves. However, coaching still matters more than talent alone, as the game continues to speed up year after year.

Last week, 247Sports analyst Clint Brewster compiled a list of who he believes are the top developers in the D1 ranks, rankings the Top 15 quarterback developers entering the 2023 college football season.

While USC Head Coach Lincoln Riley is the clear No.1 QB “whisperer” after producing three Heisman-winning quarterbacks in the last decade, Texas A&M offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino found himself ranked No.11 due to his exemplary career as one of the top offensive minds in the game. With a coaching career that spans 40 years, Petrino’s time as the Head Coach of Louisville is highlighted by quarterback Lamar Jackson’s Heisman-winning 2016 campaign while also coaching former Arizona quarterback Jake Plummer during his 1993 freshman season.

In his illustrious career, Petrino’s offenses have averaged at least 400 yards in 16-of-20 seasons and 30 points per game in 15 seasons, while his teams have eclipsed the 500-yard and 40-point thresholds five and three times.

Looking to take on the challenge of helping sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman reach his full potential in 2023, Texas A&M’s 2022 offense ranked No. 101 nationally in scoring offense at 22.8 points per game, so yes, Petrino’s offensive acumen should provide a notable boost to one of the blandest offenses College Football had to offer last season.

It’s hard to judge how fast the transition will take, but for Aggie fans who expect immediate results from Petrino’s arrival, give it time because the roster is much too talented not to improve significantly under Bobby Petrino’s guidance as he’s done throughout his entire career.

Potential transfer quarterbacks for Notre Dame and if they should pursue

Who do you like from this hypothetical list?

With the quarterback position in such a odd place for Notre Dame, it only makes sense to look around and see who else is out there. Recently, I complied a list of current QB’s in the transfer portal and if they would be a fit for the Irish.

Today, 247Sports Clint Brewster looked at hypothetical portal quarterbacks, so let’s do the same drill and see if they are fits for the Irish if they end up in the portal.
