Cavaliers at Clippers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Clippers 125, Cavaliers 109

Money line (ML)

The Cavs have lost six in a row and eight of nine. The Clippers have won two in a row and kick-off a homestand Sunday night. They are healthy except for the absence of George and they are the third-highest scoring team in the league, averaging 115.3 points per game.

Cleveland is missing key players and is playing bad basketball. That said, the money line is a waste of time at -650. PASS on the money line tonight. The Clips will win but there isn’t enough of a profit margin to wager. Go with the spread instead.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Cavs have failed to cover the spread in their last nine games. In their eight losses over the last nine games, they have lost by an average of 19.3 points per game.

They have been getting blown out consistently. One of those losses was 121-99 to the Clippers in Cleveland. Take this bet confidently. Go CLIPPERS -11.5 (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

Six of the Clippers’ last seven games have gone Over. So have Cleveland’s last three games. LA is 17-10 O/U this season. Expect them to score a lot and that will make it so the Cavs don’t have to do much to still hit the Over. Take OVER 220.5 (-110).

Cleveland Cavaliers at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Portland Trail Blazers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (10-16) visit the Portland Trail Blazers (14-10) Friday for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Cavaliers-Trail Blazers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers are on a 5-game skid. The most recent setback was a 133-95 rout as 9.5-point road underdogs at the Denver Nuggets Wednesday. Cleveland was outscored in every quarter, starting with a 34-17 deficit in the opening 12 minutes. The Cavs have won just once in their last 8 games and are on an 0-for-8 skid against the spread. PG Collin Sexton, the Cavs leading scorer with 22.7 points per game, was held to a season-low 4 points in the loss at Denver.

The Trail Blazers beat the visiting Philadelphia 76ers 118-114 as 5.5-point underdogs Thursday for their second win in a row. PG Damian Lillard scored a team-high 30 points and SF Carmelo Anthony added 24 off the bench, including two tiebreaking free throws with 3.1 seconds left. Lillard leads the Blazers with 29.4 PPG.

This is the first regular-season meeting between the two squads. Cleveland won the lone head-to-head battle last season, claiming a 110-104 home victory as a 6-point dog. Portland was 2-0 vs. Cleveland two seasons ago.

Cavaliers at Trail Blazers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:40 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Cavaliers +155 (bet $100 to win $155) | Trail Blazers -190 (bet $190 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Cavaliers +4.5 (-110) | Trail Blazers -4.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 222.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Cavaliers at Trail Blazers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Trail Blazers 117, Cavaliers 114

Money line (ML)

AVOID. This is a tricky spot for the Blazers (-190), having played Thursday, while the Cavs have had a day off to think about their 38-point waxing in Denver.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

CLEVELAND +4.5 (-110) is the play here. Teams coming off a blowout loss are dangerous. If the players have any pride, they’re going to be super focused in the next game.

Portland, 1-2 straight up and ATS on no days’ rest, was involved in a tough battle Thursday with Philly, pulling out the victory in the end. The Trail Blazers’ energy won’t be the same Friday, and the Cavs will be motivated to avoid back-to-back debacles.

ATS records: Cavaliers 10-16 | Trail Blazers 12-12

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 222.5 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. Portland is 5-2 O/U in its last seven games and 8-3 O/U in its last 11. On no days’ rest, the Trail Blazers are 2-1 O/U this season. Plus, they’re 4-1 O/U in their last five home games.

Cleveland has played to more Unders than Overs, but it’s 3-0-1 O/U in its last four games on a 1-day rest and is 8-2-1 in its last 11 games as an underdog. The Cavs are also 4-1 O/U in their last five games vs. a team with a winning record.

O/U records: Cavaliers 11-14-1 | Trail Blazers 13-11

Cavaliers at Suns: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 106, Cavaliers 97

Money line (ML)

The Suns have won two in a row in their current homestand and five of their last six overall. They are 4-2 against the Eastern Conference. The Cavs have lost three straight, five of six and seven of nine. They are 3-7 on the road. The Suns do it without shooting well from three-point range (35.2%) but the Cavs are one of only six teams to shoot worse from behind the arc than the Suns.

Take the SUNS (-275).

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Suns have the second-highest cover percentage in the NBA at 59.1% and have managed to cover the spread in every single win. Every one of their losses has been a loss against the spread as well. They have won and covered five of their last six games. The Cavs, on the other hand, have failed to cover the spread in each of their last six games.

Take the SUNS -6.5 (-115).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Suns allow the fourth-fewest points in the league at 106.8 points per game and the Cavs average the second-fewest points per game in the NBA with 102.7. The Suns are 8-14 O/U and have the fifth-lowest Over percentage in the league, while the Cavs are only a little better at 9-14-1 O/U. The Under is 4-1-1 in Cleveland’s previous six games.

Take UNDER 215.5 (-110)

Milwaukee Bucks at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Milwaukee Bucks at Cleveland Cavaliers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Milwaukee Bucks (14-8) battle the Cleveland Cavaliers (10-13) Saturday in the second end of a two-game set at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for an 8 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Bucks-Cavaliers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Bucks at Cavaliers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bucks 124, Cavaliers 108

Money line (ML)

The Bucks (-550) crushed the Cavaliers (+400) by a 123-105 score in Friday’s game, and they’ll do it again less than 24 hours later in C-Town. Even so, risking five-and-a-half times your potential return isn’t a great long-term strategy. AVOID, and look to the spread.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The BUCKS -10.5 (-110) covered a big number in Friday’s game, winning by 18, and they’ll be able to push past the Cavaliers +10.5 (-110) again. Cleveland is on an 0-5 ATS skid since its last cover on Jan. 27. The Cavs are now 0-2 SU/ATS in two meetings with the Bucks to date, losing by an average of 14.0 PPG. Milwaukee just has their number, and Cleveland is a bit banged up, too. Take advantage.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 227.5 (-110) is a very big number, but this is 2021, not 1991. There is no defense in the NBA anymore. Cleveland has actually consistently ranked in the Top 10 in scoring defense, but they allowed 121 to the Clippers Wednesday and 123 to the Bucks Friday. The Over is 7-3-1 in the past 11 games for the Cavs and 4-0-1 in the past five for the Bucks.

Bucks at Cavaliers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bucks 123, Cavaliers 107

Money line (ML)

The Bucks (-600) will almost assuredly beat the Cavaliers (+425), who enter the game with a couple of key injury concerns, too. Still, you cannot risk six times your potential return, especially on a road team. It’s just not a good long-term betting strategy. Even if you hit a Milwaukee ML wager at this price at an 86 percent success rate, you would be in the negative across 100 total bets. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

The BUCKS -10.5 (-115) are a decent play against the Cavaliers +10.5 (-105), even more so if Nance and/or Sexton are unable to go. Cleveland would have a hard enough time covering with all hands on deck. The Cavs were showing some signs of life in the middle of January, but they’re 2-5 SU/ATS across the past seven, including an 0-4 ATS across the past four.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 227.5 (-110) is the play when Milwaukee is involved. They have averaged 132.0 PPG across their past two outings, going for at least 130 points in each game. The Over is also on a 4-0 run for the boys from Cream City.

Cleveland ranks sixth in the NBA in defensive scoring average at 108.7 PPG, and they’re just 29th in offense with 103.7 PPG. However, the Over has cashed in seven of their past 10 overall.

Clippers at Cavaliers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Clippers 119, Cavaliers 105

Money line (ML)

The Clippers (-450) are looking to bounce back after suffering a 124-120 loss at Brooklyn Monday in an entertaining affair. They’re hoping it’s not Groundhog Day all over again in Cleveland. It won’t be, but laying four-and-a-half times your potential return is not something you want to make a habit of doing. AVOID, and look to the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

The CLIPPERS -9.5 (-110) are no stranger to heavy numbers, and they are usually pretty good when facing opponents they are supposed to pound. In the past seven games with a spread of seven or more, L.A. has posted a 6-1 ATS mark. That’s rather impressive. They’re also a solid 7-3 ATS across the past 10 overall.

The Cavaliers +9.5 (-110) have been running hot and cold this season, and lately they’re as cold as the wind off of Lake Erie down Ontario St. They did scratch out an ugly 100-98 win over the Timberwolves last time out, but they have failed to cover in each of their past three outings.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 217.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit bet. L.A. hit the Over in Brooklyn Monday and three of the past four overall. The Cavs are on a three-game Under skid, but the Over is 6-3 in their past nine. The Clips will post plenty of points in this second end of a back-to-back, and the Cavaliers should be able to at least break the century mark to help out.

Timberwolves at Cavaliers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Cavaliers 107, Timberwolves 104

Money line (ML)

The Cavaliers (-210) will cost you more than double your potential return in the second end of this home-and-home set. If anything, the Timberwolves (+170) would be worth a small-unit play after their 109-104 win over the Cavs in the Twin Cities Sunday evening.

PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

The TIMBERWOLVES +5.5 (-110) won outright as three-point underdogs in Minneapolis Sunday. If you missed out on that cover, don’t miss it again.

The Cavs are playing for the third time in four days, and fourth time in six days. They’ve looked tired in the first two games, outscored by an average of 105.5 to 92.5.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 217.5 (-110) is the way to go here. The Under cashed in the front end of the double dip, and in each of the past two games for the Cavs. The Under has also cashed in each of the past two for the T-Pups, and five of the past eight overall.

Minnesota is also averaging just 106.7 points per game on the season to rank 26th in the NBA, while Cleveland ranks 29th with just 104.2 PPG. Defensively, the Cavs have allowed 108.7 PPG, which is good for seventh in the league.

Cavaliers at Timberwolves: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Cavaliers 109, Timberwolves 101

Money line (ML)

The CAVALIERS (-160) aren’t terribly expensive if you don’t want to worry about the spread. Yes, they’re coming off an ugly 102-81 loss in New York. But the Timberwolves (+135) were also throttled in their most recent outing, and on their home floor, too. Minnesota was drummed 118-94 against Philadelphia on Friday.

Against the spread (ATS)

The CAVALIERS -3.5 (-110) failed to cover against the Knicks. In fact, it wasn’t even close. But they’re still a respectable 5-2 ATS across the past seven outings. The Timberwolves +3.5 (-110) enter on a three-game non-cover streak, and Minnesota is just 2-6 ATS across the past eight outings. Back the visitors.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 219.5 (-110) is the play in Saturday’s battle. While Minnesota has hit the Over in three of the past four, and they have allowed 110 or more points in four straight, look to the Under.

The T’Wolves score just 106.6 PPG to rank 26th in the NBA, while the Cavs rank just 29th in the league with 104.2 PPG. Defensively, Cleveland is a respectable seventh, posting 108.6 PPG in points allowed.

Previewing Friday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at New York Knicks NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (9-9) stop by Madison Square Garden Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game against the New York Knicks (8-11). Below, we analyze the Cavaliers-Knicks NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Cleveland beat the Detroit Pistons 122-107 at home Wednesday to break a two-game losing skid, which came against two of the NBA’s best in the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers.

The Knicks have to be eager to be back in the Garden after playing six of their last seven games on the road. Following a 106-103 loss at Cleveland Jan. 15, New York won three straight and then dropped three in a row (4-2 against the spread in those six games) entering Friday’s game.

These teams split their first two meetings this season. Prior to their 106-103 loss in the previous game, the Knicks won and covered four in a row against the Cavs.

Cavaliers at Knicks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Knicks 107, Cavaliers 101

Money line (ML)

I’m pretty much looking to fade the market here, which has steamed the Cavs up to slight favorites after bookmakers opened them as slight dogs.

The Cavs won three in a row from Jan. 15-22, with the 106-103 win over the Knicks followed by back-to-back wins over the Brooklyn Nets. My read on the pro-Cavs money is the market overvaluing these wins, especially against a Nets team that doesn’t compete defensively. Brooklyn will out-score the competition more often than not but isn’t really trying to defend anyone.

It’s the polar opposite for the Knicks, who have the seventh-best defensive rating and hold opponents to the lowest effective field-goal percentage. New York had a subpar defensive outing in its loss to Cleveland but the Cavs are 28th in offensive turnover percentage and 24th in effective field-goal percentage.

New York and Cleveland mirror each other in a lot of ways but thus far the Knicks have been more efficient. The Cavs are lower ranked in both offensive and defensive ratings.

I’ll TAKE the KNICKS (+100) for 1 unit.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS ON THE SPREAD.

Over/Under (O/U)

As you can see, BetMGM’s projection lines up with my prediction and if the line is right, there’s no value in betting it. The market is hammering the Over and moved the total up from a 205-point opener so I lean Over but not enough to place a wager.

PASS.

Pistons at Cavaliers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Cavaliers 113, Pistons 105

Money line (ML)

The CAVALIERS (-150) are moderate favorites in this game, but they have been playing better basketball lately, at least against teams they should beat. The Pistons (+125) certainly qualify as a team they should be able to beat, as they’re just 4-13 SU, including 1-6 on the road.

Against the spread (ATS)

The CAVALIERS -3.5 (-105) are a strong play on their home court, even though the Pistons +3.5 (-115) have covered their past two. These teams have already played once this season, with Cleveland winning 128-119 in overtime as one-point underdogs. The Pistons are 2-7 ATS in their past nine trips to Cleveland, and the Cavs have covered each of the past four meetings overall.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 213.5 (-110) is the way to go, cashing in four straight meetings in Cleveland, and eight straight meetings overall in this series. The Pistons have also hit the Over in six in a row on the road and seven straight against teams with a losing straight-up record. The Over is also 6-0 in Detroit’s past six as a road underdog.
