[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cleveland Cavaliers (40-22) welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves (44-19) to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Friday. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Timberwolves vs. Cavaliers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Minnesota won both meetings last season

The Timberwolves beat the Indiana Pacers 113-111 on the road Thursday, covering as a 1-point underdog. They have won 2 straight and 5 of their last 8, but are just 2-6 against the spread (ATS) in that span, and 32-31 ATS on the season. G Anthony Edwards is averaging 26.4 points per game (PPG).

The Cavaliers lost to the Atlanta Hawks 112-101 Wednesday, failing to cover as a 3-point road underdog. Cleveland has traded off winning and losing over its last 6 and is 2-4 ATS in that span. It is 30-32 ATS on the season. The Cavaliers will be without leading scorer G Donovan Mitchell (28 PPG), but have 5 other players averaging 14 points or better.

Timberwolves at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 109, Cavaliers 104

Moneyline

BET TIMBERWOLVES (-108).

Minnesota has won 2 straight games and has won 5 straight on the road, including wins over the LA Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks.

The T-wolves are the best road team in the NBA, posting a 21-11 straight-up record. While Minnesota is without Towns, the Cavaliers are missing several key players, making Edwards the best player, by far, on the court. That should give Minnesota as edge.

Also, the Cavaliers have lost 3 of their last 5, and those losses have come to a short-handed New York Knicks team, the Hawks and the Chicago Bulls. Expect the Cavaliers to struggle against a team as deep as the T-wolves.

Take TIMBERWOLVES (-108).

Against the spread

PASS.

The better value on the T-wolves is on the moneyline, not spread, so look there for the play.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 209 (-110).

The Cavaliers have gone Under in 4 straight games, but they would have hit or gone Over this total in 5 of their last 6. They are 2-4 O/U in those 6, scoring at least 105 points in 4 of them.

The T-wolves are 3-2 O/U in their last 5 games and have scored at least 110 points in 4 of their last 5. They are 6-0 O/U in their last 6 games with a total of 218 or lower. That said, back OVER 209 (-110).

Minnesota Timberwolves at Cleveland Cavaliers, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Minnesota Timberwolves at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Minnesota Timberwolves (5-8) visit Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Sunday to face the Cleveland Cavaliers (8-4). Tip-off is at 6 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Timberwolves vs. Cavaliers odds, and our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Former Utah Jazz teammates, the foundation of the team’s streak of playoff appearances, who could not work together, will now face off against each other.

The Timberwolves made the 2022-2023 NBA season a “win now” season. They traded for C Rudy Gobert for 4 first-round picks hoping to make a deep run in the playoffs. They have started this season with a 5-8 record, which is worrisome. They lost to the Memphis Grizzlies, 114-103, Friday night and need to right the ship.

The Cavaliers also wanted to make a splash this season. They traded 3 first-round picks for G Donovan Mitchell. However, even with the extra firepower they are on a 3-game losing streak, most recently falling to the Golden State Warriors 106-101 Friday. Unlike the Timberwolves, the Cavaliers have been able to make a strong start to their season despite the losses.

Timberwolves at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 110, Timberwolves 104

Moneyline

Cleveland is 4-0 straight up at home, while Minnesota is 1-3 on the road.

Minnesota seems destined to lose again, but -210 is a bit too juicy for me. I will AVOID.

Against the spread

All signs are against Minnesota. The Timberwolves are 0-5 against the spread in their last 5 games when they play on a day of rest. They also have covered just once in their last 7 games.

Cleveland on the other hand are 6-0 against the spread in their last 6 home games.

Now that being said a lot of this hinges on Mitchell playing. You may want to wait until closer to game time, but assuming he plays, I like the Cavaliers.

BET CAVALIERS -5.5 (-103).

Over/Under

The Under is 9-1 in Cavaliers last 10 games in Cleveland after a road trip of a week or longer.

Minnesota also trends towards the Under, going 4-0 in their last 4 road games against teams with a winning home record. And the Timberwolves hit the Under in 6 straight road games.

LEAN UNDER 222.5 (-108).

Timberwolves at Cavaliers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Cavaliers 107, Timberwolves 104

Money line (ML)

The Cavaliers (-210) will cost you more than double your potential return in the second end of this home-and-home set. If anything, the Timberwolves (+170) would be worth a small-unit play after their 109-104 win over the Cavs in the Twin Cities Sunday evening.

PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

The TIMBERWOLVES +5.5 (-110) won outright as three-point underdogs in Minneapolis Sunday. If you missed out on that cover, don’t miss it again.

The Cavs are playing for the third time in four days, and fourth time in six days. They’ve looked tired in the first two games, outscored by an average of 105.5 to 92.5.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 217.5 (-110) is the way to go here. The Under cashed in the front end of the double dip, and in each of the past two games for the Cavs. The Under has also cashed in each of the past two for the T-Pups, and five of the past eight overall.

Minnesota is also averaging just 106.7 points per game on the season to rank 26th in the NBA, while Cleveland ranks 29th with just 104.2 PPG. Defensively, the Cavs have allowed 108.7 PPG, which is good for seventh in the league.
