Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cleveland Browns (1-0) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1) meet Monday night at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Browns vs. Steelers odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Browns picked up a dominant 24-3 victory in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, holding QB Joe Burrow to just 82 passing yards with 17 incompletions. Cleveland rolled up 21 first downs to just 6 for Cincinnati, while outgained the Bengals by a 350-to-142 margin in total yards.

Cleveland also racked up 206 rushing yards, while Cincinnati managed only 75 yards on the ground. The Browns dominated the way they did by losing the turnover battle with a minus-2 ratio, too.

The Steelers were pounded at home by a 30-7 score by the visiting San Francisco 49ers. Pittsburgh fell behind 20-0, and it was never able to recover. The Steelers were limited to just 3.9 total yards per play, and it lost the turnover battle 2-to-1, with both of the miscues coming as QB Kenny Pickett interceptions.

Browns at Steelers picks and predictions

Prediction

Steelers 22, Browns 18

Moneyline

The STEELERS (+110) are a decent option at home as slight underdogs.

Pittsburgh has won 3 of the past 4 games overall, and Acrisure Stadium (formerly known as Heinz Field) has been a house of horrors for the Browns (-130). Cleveland is just 2-22 in 24 visits to Pittsburgh since the Steelers opened Acrisure Stadium, including a 1-21 record in the regular season. As such, keep fading the Browns whenever they visit the Steel City until Cleveland can turn that ugly history around, winning in Pittsburgh on the regular.

In addition, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has a sparkling 25-6-1 career record against the Browns. Cleveland hasn’t opened a season with a 2-0 record since 1993, and this is the 1st time it has been favored in Pittsburgh since 1989.

Against the spread

The STEELERS +2 (-110) are only worth playing if you strongly believe they’ll win outright, or this game will be a tie, or a win by the Browns by only a single point.

If you’re not in that camp, then play Pittsburgh straight up on the moneyline instead.

Over/Under

OVER 38 (-110) is the lean, ever so slightly.

The Over cashed in the regular season finale in Pittsburgh last season, with 42 points on a total of 40 at most shops. The Over also cashed in the Week 3 meeting in Cleveland, too. In fact, the Over is 4-2 in the past 6 meetings overall in this series.

First look: Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers odds and lines

Looking at Monday’s Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers Week 2 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cleveland Browns (1-0) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1) meet next Monday night for a Week 2 AFC North Division battle. Kickoff from Acrisure Stadium is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN+). Below, we look at Browns vs. Steelers odds from BetMGM Sportsbook. Also see: SportsbookWire’s NFL picks and predictions.

The Browns surprised the visiting Cincinnati Bengals in the rain and slop along the shores of Lake Erie, winning the 1st installment of the Battle of Ohio 24-3. Cleveland cashed as a 1-point favorite as the Under (46) easily connected. RB Nick Chubb hit triple digits with 106 rushing yards.

The Steelers were on the short end of a 30-7 score at home, as Pittsburgh was never in the game against the visiting San Francisco 49ers. Coach Mike Tomlin’s group slipped behind 20-0 before ever scoring, and the Steelers were forced to abandon the run early, becoming rather predictable against a big-time defense which just pinned its ears back for most of the 2nd half.

Browns at Steelers head-to-head

These teams split the season series in 2022, with the Browns protecting their home field 29-17 on Sept. 22 in a Thursday night game, covering as 4.5-point favorites as the Over (38) cashed. The Steelers won 28-14 on Jan. 8, 2023, covering a 2.5-point number as the Over (40) just came in.

Pittsburgh has won 3 of the past 4 meetings, while going 3-1 ATS in that span. The Steelers are 7-3 ATS across the past 10 games in the series, too, while holding a slight 6-4 advantage straight up.

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers Week 17 odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Cleveland Browns (7-8) visit the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-7-1) for the final Monday Night Football game of the season in Week 17 at Heinz Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Browns vs. Steelers odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Browns were eliminated from playoff contention Sunday, so suddenly Monday’s game is meaningless for the Browns’ playoff hopes. However, Cleveland can still bump its rivals from the playoffs by winning in Pittsburgh, so there’s that.

The playoff hopes of the Steelers are hanging by a thread, but if they win they won’t be eliminated just yet. This is also expected to be the final home game for QB Ben Roethlisberger after an illustrious career for the Black and Gold.

Browns at Steelers odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Steelers 26, Browns 16

Money line

The STEELERS (-135) have something to play for, while the Browns are now relegated to the role of spoiler. It will be interesting to see what frame of mind Cleveland is in for this game, but it isn’t likely to be good.

Toss in the fact this is likely Big Ben’s last game at home, and under the lights, and the atmosphere should be electric as Pittsburgh looks to keep its season alive.

Against the spread

The STEELERS -2.5 (-115) are playing to keep their playoff hopes alive into the final weekend, and it’s Big Ben’s final game at home.

Pittsburgh has plenty of motivation and the Cleveland motivation level might be at an all-time low after being officially eliminated from the playoffs. The Browns +2.5 (-105) opened as the favorites, but now it’s the Steelers who are expected to win.

Over/Under

The UNDER 42.5 (-112) is the lean here.

These teams combined for just 25 points in a 15-10 victory for the Steelers in the first meeting in Cleveland. The Under has cashed in four of the last five games for the Browns while going 5-0 in the past five against teams with a losing overall record.

The Under is 4-1 in the last five at home for the Steelers while going 5-1 in the last six games as favorites.

Underdog corner: 3 best NFL picks and predictions of Week 17

Assessing the NFL betting odds and lines for Week 17, with three predictions and picks for the best underdog bets to make.

NFL point-spread favorites continued their late-season surge last week, but we hit on two of our three selections here in “Underdog Corner,” cashing with outright wins by the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills.

That upped our season record to a nice-and-profitable 31-17 (.646) with 26 outright winners.

NFL underdog predictions: Week 17

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 9:40 p.m. ET.

Cincinnati Bengals +5.5 (-112) vs. Kansas City Chiefs

This is a crucial contest for both of these AFC contenders with the conference’s No. 1 seed and a division title among the items on the line.

QB Patrick Mahomes and the 11-4 Chiefs have won eight straight (with six straight covers) to put the wraps on another AFC West crown and surge into pole position in the AFC.

QB Joe Burrow and the Bengals, meanwhile, have won four of their last six and need another victory to clinch their first AFC North crown since 2015.

The Chiefs are the better team with more big-game experience, but Burrow and Co. have more than enough firepower to keep this one close at home. Take the BENGALS (+5.5) and the points.

Houston Texans +12.5 (-112) at San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco has won five of its last seven to move into the thick of the NFC playoff chase but lost last Thursday night against the Titans and now may be without starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo due to a thumb injury.

The Texans, meanwhile, have no such postseason aspirations at 4-11 but continue to play hard behind better-than-you-think rookie QB Davis Mills and have won two straight by double digits, including last Sunday’s 41-29 upset of the 13.5-point favorite Chargers.

Given the Niners’ QB uncertainty and their 5-8 against-the-spread (ATS) record at home since the start of last season, we’re taking the TEXANS (+12.5).

Pittsburgh Steelers +3.5 (-120) vs. Cleveland Browns

The 7-7-1 Steelers and 7-8 Browns still have slim AFC chances so this is basically a de facto elimination game in the regular-season Monday Night Football finale.

Pittsburgh has had the upper hand in this series of late, going 10-3-1 straight up (SU) and 8-5-1 ATS since 2015, including a 15-10 road win in Cleveland as a 5.5-point underdog on Halloween.

But the main reason we like Pittsburgh here is that this likely will be the final home game of QB Ben Roethlisberger’s storied career, and it’s hard to imagine the STEELERS (+3.5) coming up short.

Browns at Steelers: Game notes

  • The Browns are 3-3 against teams with winning records (including a win over Pittsburgh last Sunday when the Steelers were resting several key starters) and have fattened up on teams .500 or worse – going 8-2 against those teams.
  • Pittsburgh lost four of its last five games after being the last undefeated team in 2020, winning its first 11 games.
  • Cleveland is 3-5 against the spread on the road, while Pittsburgh is 5-3 ATS at home.
  • Cleveland has the third-ranked rushing attack in the league, averaging 148.4 yards per game on the ground. The Browns also average 4.8 yards per carry (5th) with 21 rushing touchdowns (5th).
  • The Browns are in the postseason for the first time since 2002.
  • Over their last six games, the Steelers averaged just 19.7 points per game.

Browns at Steelers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Steelers 24, Browns 20

Money line (?)

The Browns are at +235, which is pretty high for a divisional matchup of two playoff teams with a lot of familiarity with the other team’s personnel. The Steelers (-290) bring too little return on investment in what looks to end up as a one-score game.

I would AVOID this bet, but, if pressed to pick a side, I would recommend a small bet on Cleveland at +235 because it has the talent to grind the ball on the ground and pull out a road upset

Against the spread (?)

The spread has Pittsburgh as a 6-point favorite. This seems high, but it is likely because the Browns’ team facility was closed until Thursday after several positive COVID tests.

At this time of year, practice isn’t as taxing as it is earlier in the season. This has all the makings of the team with the final possession winning the game, so 6 points is a lot to give in a game that looks to be close.

TAKE CLEVELAND +6 (-110).

Over/Under (?)

If Pittsburgh continues to abandon the run (not a recipe for success in the playoffs), the clock will stop a lot and chunk plays will tilt field position.

Expect to see the Steelers to run the ball more than they have in recent weeks and the Browns to milk the clock with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt if they get off to a strong start. It will be close, but TAKE THE UNDER 47.5 (-110).
