Miami (Ohio) at Cincinnati odds, expert picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Miami (Ohio) at Cincinnati odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

To help kick off the opening weekend of NCAA football, the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks visit the Cincinnati Bearcats. The game is set to start at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be held at Nippert Stadium. Below, we look at the Miami (Ohio) vs. Cincinnati odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Returning many starters including QB Desmond Ridder, the Bearcats will be looking to once against dominant the AAC. They finished last season 9-1 and 6-0 in their conference. Cincinnati is starting the season at No. 10 in the AFCA Coaches Poll power by USA TODAY Sports.

Miami was 2-1 last season but didn’t play an opponent of Cincinnati’s caliber. The RedHawks will be entering the game as massive underdogs on the road.

Miami (Ohio) at Cincinnati odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Cincinnati 45, Miami (Ohio) 17

Money line

PASS on the money line.

Even though Cincinnati should easily handle business at home and against an easy opponent, there’s no way anyone should drop any type of unit on the Bearcats at -1800. The possible return just isn’t worth the risk.

Against the spread

BET on CINCINNATI -22.5 (-108) as it’s returning its starting quarterback and has a drastically superior coaching staff.

Led by former Ohio State prodigy Luke Fickell, Cincinnati has a unit that’s worked together for the last few seasons and ran through the AAC. The Bearcats were 6-4 against the spread last season.

Miami (Ohio) QB Brett Gabbert found his rhythm during the short season last year, but I expect him to struggle against a side that allowed over 20 points to an unranked school just once in 2020 (and that was to a quality opponent in UCF).

Over/Under

BET on the OVER 49.5 (-110) as even when Cincinnati thrashed opponents last season it didn’t let off the gas.

Cincinnati put up over 30 points six times last year and topped 40 four times, as well. With Ridder returning, the offense should be just as good if not better.

Miami scored 38 points in two of the three games and gave up for 40 in the other. I’d be shocked if this one went under 49 total points.

Peach Bowl: Cincinnati vs. Georgia odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Georgia Bulldogs Peach Bowl odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The No. 6 Cincinnati Bearcats (9-0) meet the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs (7-2) New Year’s Day in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we analyze Cincinnati-Georgia college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Cincinnati vs. Georgia: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 5:50 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Cincinnati +260 (bet $100 to win $260) | Georgia -350 (bet $350 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Cincinnati +8 (-110) | Georgia -8 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 52.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Cincinnati vs. Georgia: Three things to know

  1. Georgia’s two losses have come against top-10 teams: A 41-24 loss as a 6-point underdog at then-No. 2 Alabama Oct. 17 and 44-28 to then-No. 8 Florida as a 2.5-point favorite Nov. 7 in Jacksonville, Fla. Aside from those losses, the Bulldogs have won each game by at least 11 points, but only covered in four of their seven victories.
  2. After demolishing its seven first opponents by at least two touchdowns, Cincinnati has won its past two games by only three points apiece. The Bearcats beat the UCF 36-33 Nov. 21 and Tulsa 27-24 in the AAC Championship Game Dec. 19.
  3. The Bulldogs have the second-toughest schedule. The Bearcats have the 66th-toughest schedule, which is essentially why, even though they’re undefeated, why they never had much of a chance to make the College Football Playoff.

Cincinnati vs. Georgia: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Georgia 38, Cincinnati 17

Money line (ML)

PASS. Georgia is the right side, but -350 is a little too pricey for me. I’d prefer to bet lay the points with the Bulldogs at a much cheaper price.

Against the spread (ATS)

This Georgia offense has hit a new stride since junior QB JT Daniels, a transfer from USC, made his Bulldog debut against Mississippi State Nov. 21. The Bulldogs have scored 31, 45 and 49 points in Daniels’ three starts with the latter two totals being the two highest-scoring games by Georgia this season.

However, Daniels has also benefitted from Georgia getting the most out of its ground game, which has rushed for over 300 yards and four touchdowns in each of the Bulldogs’ last two victories.

On the other side of the ball, Cincinnati’s offensive line is a middling unit: 85th in line yards per carry, 109th in power success rate and 98th in opportunity rate. It will have to block a Georgia rush defense that is one of the best units in the nation. Georgia has only allowed two opponents to gain more than 100 yards on the ground and none of the Bulldogs’ opponents have averaged more than 3.5 yards per rush in a game against them.

If Georgia can take away Cincinnati’s rushing attack, and establish its own ground game against a Bearcats defense which hasn’t played anyone nearly as good as the Bulldogs, then I am fine with betting GEORGIA -8 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

Let’s follow the money and take OVER 52.5 (-105). According to Pregame.com, over 85% of the action is on the Over, which has pushed the number up from a 50.5-point opener.

I think Georgia putting up points is a given and six of the Bulldogs’ previous seven games coming into the Peach Bowl have gone Over the total. Also, Cincinnati’s offense is playing its best football at the end of the season and the Over has cashed in four of the last five Bearcats’ games.

AAC Championship Game: Tulsa at Cincinnati odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Cincinnati Bearcats sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane (6-1, 6-0 AAC) and the Cincinnati Bearcats (8-0, 6-0) meet Saturday for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, for the American Athletic Conference Championship Game. Below, we analyze the Tulsa-Cincinnati college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Tulsa at Cincinnati: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 11:40 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Tulsa +500 (bet $100 to win $500) | Cincinnati -715 (bet $715 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Tulsa +14.5 (-110) | Cincinnati -14.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 45.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Tulsa at Cincinnati: Three things to know

  1. Tulsa fell 16-7 at Oklahoma State in its regular-season opener Sept. 19, and many were asking what’s wrong with the Cowboys. Instead, people should have been asking what’s right with the Golden Hurricane. They have rattled off six straight wins to get to Cincinnati, and they’re 6-1 ATS in seven games this season.
  2. The Golden Hurricane are sufficient on offense, posting 411.3 total yards per game to rank 54th in the country, with 27.7 points per game to rank 70th. Defensively is where they’re strongest, limiting the opposition to 183.4 passing yards per game (15th in the nation), 328.4 total yards per game (20th) and 19.9 PPG (21st).
  3. Cincinnati has been off since Nov. 21, a narrow 36-33 win at UCF. It was a rare non-cover for the Bearcats, as they are 5-3 ATS overall this season. Cincinnati has scored 36 or more points in each of its past five outings. The Bearcats are a strong defensive team, too, yielding just 308.1 total yards per game (9th), 195.6 passing yards (23rd), 112.5 rushing yards (17th) and 15.0 PPG (5th).

Tulsa at Cincinnati: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Cincinnati 24, Tulsa 17

Money line (ML)

Cincinnati (-715) is a heavy favorite, and that’s not a good way to spend your money. Yes, it’s at home, but Tulsa has had a knack of finding ways to win, even when it looks like it shouldn’t. Look to the spread instead.

AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

TULSA +14.5 (-110) is the best play on the board in this AAC title game. The Golden Hurricane have cashed in three straight, and six of the past seven, including all four of its games on the road. It has been a theme for the Golden Hurricane over the years, as they’re 26-10 ATS in the past 36 on the road, and 20-7 ATS in the past 27 against winning teams.

This will be a bit of a defensive battle, and the ‘Cane will easily hang within two scores.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 45.5 (-110) is a good play in this title game, as both of these teams bring a lot of heat on defense. They have some talent on the offensive side of the ball, but the defenses will reign supreme.

And hey, isn’t it true? Defense wins championships.

Cincinnati at Tennessee: things to know

  1. The Volunteers are 1-for-6 in getting games in thus far. UT has already had five games canceled since their originally-scheduled Nov. 25 opener. In between, Tennessee picked up a solid 56-47 home win against Colorado Tuesday. UT was solid on defense, holding the Buffaloes to a 33% mark from the field and forcing 22 turnovers.
  2. Cincinnati won two and lost one over a trio of home games. Saturday’s tilt in Knoxville marks the first road game of the season for a Bearcats team that went 4-7 against the spread in 11 away games last season. Turnovers committed and keeping foes off the offensive glass were key categories in which UC struggled when on the road.
  3. The 2020-21 Vols return four of their top six scorers from a year ago when UT went 17-14. Tennessee played a slow-pace style and averaged just 67.1 points per game (291st of 353 NCAA-I). An influx of new talent — three five-star recruits (G Keon Johnson, F Corey Walker and G Jaden Springer) — have the Volunteers well-placed in several early-season polls.

Cincinnati at Tennessee: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 71, Cincinnati 61

Money line (ML)

UC is replacing three of its top five players (in terms of playing time). Peg the Bearcats to be on a bit of a downturn, if not for the whole season then at least in the first month or so.

TAKE TENNESSEE (-350).

Against the spread (ATS)

Cincinnati’s 2019-20 road struggles were especially evident early when the Bearcats started their road campaign with three straight ATS losses. With a hot shooting performance (60% effective field-goal mark) in its last outing, UC figures to be a tad overvalued.

An early-afternoon tip against a reloading Tennessee squad that can defend and create takeaways does the Bearcats no favors. Head coach Rick Barnes’ Tennessee teams have been strong out of the gate/early-season performers.

BACK THE VOLS -7 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

Both sides of the equation figure as slow-pace. There aren’t enough early-season clues pointing any other way and the figure here looks to be well constructed. PASS.

Houston at Cincinnati odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Houston Cougars at Cincinnati Bearcats sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Houston Cougars (2-2, 2-1 AAC) visit the Cincinnati Bearcats (5-0, 3-0) Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we analyze the Houston-Cincinnati college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Bearcats are No. 6 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Houston at Cincinnati: Betting odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 6:56 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Houston +400 (bet $100 to win $400) | Cincinnati -556 (bet $556 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Houston +13.5 (-110) | Cincinnati -13.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 54 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Houston at Cincinnati: Three things to know

  1. Houston got waylaid at home by a 44-21 count last weekend against visiting UCF, and the Cougars are now a dismal 1-2 SU/ATS while protecting their home turf. They won their only road offering, covering a 14.5-point spread with a 37-21 victory at Navy (Oct. 24) as the Over hit. Last week’s Under result – the O/U line was 82 vs. UCF – was Houston’s first in four games this season.
  2. The Bearcats have brought a lot of excitement to the ‘Nati, proving that the Buckeyes aren’t the only national contender in the great state of Ohio. They whipped up on Memphis 49-10, and have won each of their four home games by at least 14 points. However, Cincinnati is a marginal 2-2 ATS in four home games.
  3. Cincinnati ranks 17th in the nation with 217.8 rushing yards per game, and is 14th with 39.6 PPG. Defensively, the Bearcats are allowing just 306.2 yards per game to rank 18th, they’re 10th in rushing defense (97.0 YPG) and eighth in points allowed with 12.0 PPG.

Houston at Cincinnati: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Cincinnati 41, Houston 23

Money line (ML)

Cincinnati (-556) is humming right along, but you can’t risk more than five and a half times your potential return. Over the long haul, that’s a losing strategy unless you’re including it in multi-team parlays. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

CINCINNATI -13.5 (-110) is worth laying the points, even though the Bearcats are so-so against the number at home this season. Houston +13.5 (-110) did cover in its only road game to date, but that was against a dismal, one-dimensional Navy side. The Cougars showed last week that they’re no match for a powerful offense, as UCF picked them apart. Look for more of the same from the ‘Cats.

Over/Under (O/U)

Bet the OVER 54 (-110) lightly in this AAC matchup. The Bearcats have hit the Over in just two of their five games this season, splitting in four home dates. The Cougars have hit the Over in three of four games, including their only road date. Houston is allowing 34.8 PPG while scoring 33.3 PPG on offense. The Cougars are usually involved in high-scoring games and this one will be no different.
