30 photos of Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard’s career year in 2024

It may have come to an early end, but Chuba Hubbard’s career year will go down as one of the best in Panthers franchise history.

The Carolina Panthers, in an unexpected development on Saturday morning, placed running back Chuba Hubbard on injured reserve due to a calf strain—effectively closing the book on his fourth NFL season.

2024, however, proved to be a career year for Hubbard—who rushed for bests in yards (1,195) and touchdowns (10). He also signed a life-changing four-year contract extension and earned his first NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his heroic efforts from this past Sunday’s walk-off win over the Arizona Cardinals.

So while it may have met an early end, Hubbard’s sparkling campaign will still go down as one of the best in franchise history.

Here are 30 of the very best images from Hubbard’s memorable run:

Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard officially placed on IR

The career year of Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard is now over.

Chuba Hubbard’s career year is now in the books.

The Carolina Panthers officially placed the fourth-year running back on injured reserve this morning due to a calf strain, a move that effectively ends his 2024 season. ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter was first with the news on Saturday.

According to head coach Dave Canales, Hubbard was expected to play in tomorrow’s contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was listed on Friday’s injury report as questionable for the matchup.

Over his 15 games in 2024, Hubbard has notched career-highs in carries (250), rushing yards (1,195) and rushing touchdowns (10). His 1,195 rushing yards are the fourth-most for a single season in franchise history—behind only DeAngelo Williams (1,515), Stephen Davis (1,444) and Christian McCaffrey (1,387).

Hubbard’s final carry of his campaign gave the Panthers a walk-off 36-30 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16. He’d also be named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week for his heroic efforts, in which he rushed for 152 yards (one off of his career-high) and two scores.

Panthers reportedly set to place RB Chuba Hubbard on IR

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Panthers are expected to place RB Chuba Hubbard on injured reserve.

The career year of Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard may have met its end.

According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Panthers are expected to place Hubbard on injured reserve. The move, with just two games remaining in the 2024 campaign, would end the fourth-year back’s season.

The Panthers listed Hubbard on Friday’s injury report with a knee issue and ruled him as questionable for the team’s Week 17 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Head coach Dave Canales told reporters that Hubbard was amongst the players he expected to suit up for the NFC South showdown.

Hubbard—through 15 games—has recorded career-highs in carries (250), rushing yards (1,195) and rushing touchdowns (10).

Panthers HC Dave Canales provides Week 17 injury updates on Chuba Hubbard, Xavier Legette

Panthers HC Dave Canales thinks both RB Chuba Hubbard and WR Xavier Legette will be good to go for Sunday’s matchup with the Bucs.

The Carolina Panthers have themselves one heck of an injury report here in Week 17. But at least they’re confident about the statuses of two key offensive players.

Both running back Chuba Hubbard (knee) and wide receiver Xavier Legette (hip/wrist) have been deemed questionable for this Sunday’s contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Head coach Dave Canales, however, didn’t seem to think they’re too questionable for the NFC South showdown.

Here’s what Canales told reporters following Friday’s practice:

Hubbard is fresh off rushing for 152 yards and two touchdowns in the team’s Week 16 win over the Arizona Cardinals. He was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his triumphant performance.

Legette missed the overtime victory due to his hip injury.

They likely won’t be joined by a few other notable names, including right tackle Taylor Moton (knee) and cornerback Jaycee Horn (hip)—who are doubtful. In addition, linebacker Josey Jewell (concussion/quadriceps) and nickel cornerback Chau Smith-Wade (illness/chest) have already been ruled out.

Panthers Week 17 injury report: Taylor Moton, Jaycee Horn doubtful

The Panthers are pretty banged up heading into their Week 17 matchup against the Bucs.

The Carolina Panthers may be down a handful of key contributors in Week 17.

Right tackle Taylor Moton, who did not participate in practice throughout the week due to a knee injury, has been listed as doubtful for Sunday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If he cannot go, Yosh Nijman will get his third start of the campaign.

Cornerback Jaycee Horn is also considered doubtful for the contest with a hip issue.

The defense will definitely be down linebacker Josey Jewell and nickel cornerback Chau Smith-Wade, both of whom have already been ruled out.

Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Chuba Hubbard has become the first Panther to be named NFC Offensive Player of the Week since 2022.

The breakout season of Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard continues.

Hubbard has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in this past Sunday’s 36-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals. The fourth-year back rushed for 152 yards, one off of the career-high total he set back in Week 10, and two touchdowns—including the walk-off 21-yard score in overtime.

Sunday’s triumphant result proved to be a bit of personal redemption for Hubbard, who fumbled in Carolina’s previous visit to overtime against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers three weeks ago.

“I’ve let it go, but it’s definitely been in the back of my head a little bit,” he said after the victory. “Like I said—when the next opportunity came, I told myself I’ma get it back for them. And to be able to have them trust me in that opportunity again and then have it end that way, just blessings of God.”

Hubbard has now rushed for 1,195 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season. He’s just the third Panther to ever reach both marks in a single season, joining DeAngelo Williams and Christian McCaffrey.

This is the first time a Panther has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week since running back D’Onta Foreman captured the honors in Week 16 of the 2022 season.

Panthers players seemed quite fine with knocking the Cardinals out of playoff contention

The Panthers played spoiler to the Cardinals on Sunday, and at least a few of them seemed pretty okay with it.

The Carolina Panthers went on a wild ride this afternoon, going from a 20-3 lead at one point to a frantic overtime period against the playoff-hopeful Arizona Cardinals. But by the end, they got their win—and they did it their way.

Here are some of their players’ best reactions to the thrilling 36-30 walk-off victory . . .

Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard talks redemption after OT win in Week 16

Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard fumbled in an overtime loss three weeks ago. He certainly didn’t let that happen again on Sunday.

The Carolina Panthers’ last visit to overtime wasn’t too kind to running back Chuba Hubbard. That nightmare came in Week 13, when the fourth-year rusher fumbled to help give the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a 26-23 win at Bank of America Stadium.

Sunday’s Week 16 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, however, gave Hubbard a chance at redemption—in the same time and same place. And this opportunity didn’t escape him.

Hubbard starred in this afternoon’s 36-30 triumph, rushing for 152 yards and two touchdowns. 49 of those 152 yards came on his team’s second possession in overtime, where he broke out a 28-yard run to set up his walk-off 21-yard run into the end zone.

He talked about bouncing back from his costly miscue three weeks ago.

“Obviously I was down in that moment, but I knew that I’d get another one and I’d do right by it,” Hubbard stated. “Just blessed, glad to finish the right way in the Bank.”

Despite that Week 13 fumble, Hubbard’s teammates never lost faith in their workhorse back. He talked about rewarding that trust as well.

“I’ve let it go, but it’s definitely been in the back of my head a little bit,” he added. “Like I said—when the next opportunity came, I told myself I’ma get it back for them. And to be able to have them trust me in that opportunity again and then have it end that way, just blessings of God.”

Hubbard has now rushed for 1,195 yards, the fourth-highest single-season total in franchise history, and 10 touchdowns through 15 games.
