5 Packers players to watch vs. the Bears

Here are five Packers players we’ll be watching this week against the Bears.

The Chicago Bears renew their historic rivalry with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field. The Bears (3-9) are in the midst of a five-game losing streak that has them as one of the worst teams in the league. The Packers (4-8) aren’t much better as both teams are essentially out of the playoff race with still more than a month to go.

Sunday’s game probably means more in the draft standings than any divisional standings, but it’s also a game that could swing history. The Bears have been the league’s most winningest team since its inception and now, they’re tied with the Packers with 786 wins a piece. A win for Green Bay means they take sole possession of first place in all-time victories.

If the Bears hope to win, they’ll need to keep (most of) these players in check. Here are five Packers players we’ll be watching in Week 13.

WATCH: Christian Watson catches 63-yard TD from Jordan Love

Watch Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Christian Watson score his sixth touchdown in the last three games

Aaron Rodgers is out with an injury, but it looks like the Green Bay Packers offense is in good hands with backup Jordan Love.

The 2020 first-round pick entered the game early in the fourth quarter, and promptly threw a dart over the middle to rookie wide receiver Christian Watson, who raced 63 yards for a touchdown.

The score brought the Packers within a touchdown of the Philadelphia Eagles, with plenty of time to keep mounting an improbable comeback against the team with the NFL’s best record.

That’s now six touchdown catches in the last three games for Watson, who struggled with multiple injuries earlier in the season, but has been dominant now that he’s at full strength.

If Rodgers is forced to miss any kind of extended time, it looks like the offense shouldn’t miss a beat with Love behind center.

Four plays after taking over for Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Jordan Love hit rookie Christian Watson for a 63-yard touchdown pass that cut the Philadelphia Eagles’ lead to 37-30 in the fourth quarter.

Rodgers left the contest with an oblique injury.

On his first series, Love hit Allen Lazard for a 7-yard completion to convert on 3rd-and-5 and then fired a completion off play-action to Watson cutting across the field, and the speedy rookie to it to the house for a game-changing score.

Not a bad start. Three completions, 75 yards, one touchdown and a perfect 158.3 passer rating.

Not a bad run from Watson, either. He has six touchdowns in his last three games. His speed is killing defenses.

Here’s the touchdown:

A beautiful play. Love came up off the play-action, fired into the middle of the field and let Watson do the rest.

Love was the Packers’ first-round pick in 2020. Rodgers’ future in Green Bay is uncertain, so the Love-to-Watson touchdown on Sunday night could be a look into the future for the Packers.
