LSU reliever Christian Little drafted by Seattle Mariners

Christian Little was picked in the 11th round after two seasons at LSU.

With the 333rd pick in the 2024 MLB draft, the [autotag]Seattle Mariners[/autotag] have drafted [autotag]Christian Little[/autotag], a right-handed pitcher from LSU.

Little, the Vanderbilt transfer, has been in Baton Rouge for two seasons after spending two years at Vandy. During his career at LSU, Little finished with a 4-2 record and a 7.16 ERA. He had 80 strikeouts and 45 walks over 64.1 innings of work.

Little started his career as a starting pitcher for Vandy but has since transitioned into a bullpen role. He made 14 starts in two years for Vandy and eight starts in his first year at LSU but he did not make any starts this year in 23 appearances.

Little is a talented pitcher but he has struggled with location. That is a big reason why he has slid all the way down to the 11th round. He still has good stuff and I believe the Mariners can bring out the best version of him.

LSU pitcher Christian Little to miss entire Chapel Hill Regional

Christian Little will reportedly miss the entire regional this weekend.

After suffering an injury during an outing in last week’s SEC Tournament, it seems LSU pitcher Christian Little’s season is in jeopardy.

Little was one of several Tigers spotted in street clothes ahead of Friday’s regional opener against Wofford, and according to a report from Koki Riley of The Advocate, he’s set to miss the entire Chapel Hill Regional, at least.

A native of St. Louis who arrived as a transfer from Vanderbilt last season, Little has made 23 appearances out of the bullpen with a 6.37 ERA, 38 strikeouts and 16 walks in 29.2 innings pitched.

He made two appearances for LSU in Hoover last week.

Little’s injury isn’t devastating for LSU’s bullpen this weekend, but it will make that group thin as it looks to win a regional on the road.

Jay Johnson updates status of LSU pitcher Christian Little following injury

LSU head coach Jay Johnson provided an update on reliever Christian Little.

LSU reliever [autotag]Christian Little[/autotag] was pulled from Sunday’s SEC title loss to Tennessee after experiencing pain following a pitch. Little was in visible discomfort, which is never a good sign given the nature of pitching injuries in baseball.

LSU coach [autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] gave an update on Little after the game, saying it was a lat issue.

This is positive news for now. Little avoids a severe elbow injury. Johnson said Little wanted to throw a few more pitches, but Johnson went to the bullpen.

Little’s status remains unclear, but he would be a significant loss for an LSU bullpen that has struggled to find depth this year. Prior to the SEC Tournament, Little held opponents scoreless in seven of his last nine outings. His experience would be useful in the postseason, too. This is his fourth year of SEC baseball after starting his career at Vanderbilt.

Prior to exiting on Sunday, Little had pitched a scoreless inning while recording two strikeouts.

Due to his early season struggles, Little’s ERA is still 6.47, but that doesn’t reflect the pitcher he’s been lately.

LSU will have to wait until Monday to find out its regional destination, but many expect the Tigers to be a No. 2 seed after their eventful SEC Tournament run.

LSU baseball’s magical SEC tournament run comes to an end in championship against Tennessee

LSU ran out of late game heroics in the SEC championship on Sunday.

After the last two LSU baseball games ended in madness, the Tigers became the first No. 11 seed to make the SEC championship game. LSU would face off against the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers.

This time, the magic ran out as the Tigers lost 4-3.

[autotag]Jared Jones[/autotag] got the Tigers on the board first with a 471-foot solo shot in the bottom of the first inning to give LSU a 1-0 lead.

[autotag]Nate Ackenhausen[/autotag] got the start on the mound and he was incredible. He struck out five of the first six hitters he faced. In the third inning, he recorded the first two outs before being replaced by [autotag]Fidel Ulloa[/autotag]. Ulloa then gave up a three-run bomb and the Vols took their first lead of the ballgame.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, LSU had the bases loaded with two outs but [autotag]Stephen Milam[/autotag] got picked off on first to end the inning and keep the score 3-1. Tennessee added to their lead in the top of the seventh inning to make the score 4-1 Vols.

[autotag]Christian Little[/autotag] entered to pitch after Ulloa and unfortunately had to leave the game with an injury. Hopefully, he will be okay in the long run. LSU used eight different pitchers in the game as they tried to keep everyone relatively fresh for regional play.

LSU entered the bottom of the ninth inning trailing 4-1 and needing three runs to keep the game going. In the bottom of the ninth, Hayden Travinski hit a double with one out and Milam followed that with an RBI double of his own to cut the lead to 4-2. Mac Bingham then reached on a fielding error and advanced to second on the throw as Milam scored to make it 4-3 with the tying run on second.

[autotag]Ashton Larson[/autotag] and [autotag]Alex Milazzo[/autotag] then both struck out and LSU lost 4-3. LSU will now wait until Monday to find out where they are heading for regional play.
