Chris Godwin named to 2020 All-Under-25 Team

Marc Sessler of NFL.com named Bucs WR Chris Godwin to his 2020 All-Under-25 Team.

The New England Patriots offense struggled last year as Tom Brady and the team failed to find a suitable replacement for Rob Gronkowski in the passing game.

Now a Buccaneer, Brady should have no trouble finding threats on offense in 2020. With Gronk un-retiring and Mike Evans and Chris Godwin coming off Pro Bowl seasons, Tampa Bay will be one of the most exciting teams to watch this season, for better or worse.

And while Brady will be the old man on the field at 43 when the season starts, Godwin is the youngster of the bunch, having just turned 24 in February. After a breakout year in 2019, the accolades keeping piling on for the former Penn State star, as Marc Sessler of NFL.com named him to his 2020 All-Under-25 Team.

Per Sessler:

“Long before Tom Brady ventured south, Godwin shape-shifted into a whirlwind for secondaries to ponder. Bucs coach Bruce Arians crystal-balled a big year for Godwin last offseason, saying: ‘I think [he’s] going to be close to a 100-catch guy.’ Close, indeed, with 86 grabs for 1,333 yards (third among all wideouts last season) and nine touchdowns. All of this came with veteran receiver Mike Evans gobbling up a 67/1,157/8 line of his own for a Tampa offense set to explode with Brady and Rob Gronkowski added to the lineup.”

Godwin came into his own last season and proved he was able to be extremely productive as the No. 2 receiver. Had a hamstring injury not sidelined him at the end of the season, Godwin could’ve come even closer to that 100-catch number.

Here’s your chance to play video games with Chris Godwin

Chris Godwin is offering fans the chance to play “Call of Duty” with him to help save homeless dogs.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin proved to be a star on the field last season, catching 86 passes for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl selection.

While we may never get the chance to line up and play alongside Godwin on the field, the Bucs receiver is offering fans a chance to play along with him in Call of Duty.

Playing video games with the Pro Bowler and helping animals? Sounds like a win-win all around.

You can add ‘watch designer’ to Chris Godwin’s resume now

Bucs wide receiver Chris Godwin is designing watches now, and for a good cause.

This offseason has been all about growth for Bucs wide receiver Chris Godwin. The former No. 12 for the Buccaneers has traveled the world, taken up a new hobby and even gotten engaged.

Now, it seems he’s adding another impressive title to his resume: watch designer.

Take a look at Godwin’s recent Instagram post to find out why he’s getting into the watch business. (Hint: it’s for a great cause.)

Godwin had a career year in 2019, catching 86 balls for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns, earning him his first Pro Bowl selection.

A little Throwback Thursday featuring QB Doug Williams

Take a look at some old highlights of former Bucs QB Doug Williams, who wore No. 12 for Tampa Bay long before Tom Brady.

Tom Brady will be able to keep his TB12 nickname after Bucs wide receiver Chris Godwin gave his No. 12 jersey to Brady and switched to No. 14

While Brady may be best known for wearing 12 in New England with the Patriots, he won’t be the first quarterback to don that number for the Buccaneers.

One of Brady’s No 12 predecessors was Super Bowl champion Doug Williams. Williams played for the Buccaneers for five years after being a first-round pick in the 1978 draft. After his stint in Tampa Bay, he went on to the Redskins and led the team to victory in Super Bowl XXII, earning Super Bowl MVP honors along the way.

In honor of Williams (and his days wearing No. 12 for the Bucs) here’s a little highlight reel for Throwback Thursday.

Chris Godwin is climbing the Bucs career receiving yards list faster than you may think

Bucs WR Chris Godwin had a breakout year in 2019, and is quickly climbing the team’s career receiving list.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers boasted the NFL’s best passing attack last season, which shouldn’t come as a surprise considering they have both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

Both receivers eclipsed the 1,100-yard mark last year, with Evans making history along the way. Now that Tom Brady is their quarterback, the sky’s the limit in 2020 for this Batman and Robin tandem. Evans is already the franchise leader in receiving yards with 7,260, while Godwin is still a ways behind at 2,700.

But, Godwin may not be as far away from cracking the franchise’s top five in career receiving yards as you may think.

Godwin will enter his fourth season in 2020 just 1,600 yards away from tying former tight end Jimmie Giles for fifth in career receiving yards. It’s not out of the question to think that Godwin could hit that mark this season, especially with Brady as his quarterback.

Still, Evans has a strong head start on him.

Bucs CB Sean Murphy-Bunting explains his number change

Chris Godwin isn’t the only Bucs player switching numbers this offseason. Find out why CB Sean Murphy-Bunting made a switch.

Tom Brady taking over at quarterback wasn’t the only big change to happen for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason. The team also ditched their 2014 redesign and unveiled a more traditional look.

That means Brady will be donning No. 12 in uniforms that remind fans of the Bucs’ glory years, including their championship season in 2002. Brady’s arrival to Tampa Bay stirred mild controversy at first when many wondered whether Chris Godwin would give Brady the No. 12. Godwin, of course, did and will now wear No. 14.

But one other Buccaneer decided to make a number change this offseason, and that’s cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting. SMB, who was the team’s second-round pick in the 2019 draft, made the change from No. 26 to 23, and recently explained the reasoning behind the move.

A touching and good reason to change numbers, that’s for sure. Murphy-Bunting finished last season with three interceptions and one touchdown, and will be one of the key pieces in Tampa Bay’s secondary next season.

The Brady-Godwin bromance continues on Instagram

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady took to his Instagram story to post this picture of Chris Godwin.

While Tom Brady and Chris Godwin have yet to play a game together, the quarterback and wide receiver have developed quite the friendship so far, probably helped by the fact that Godwin gifted Brady the No. 12 after the six-time Super Bow champion signed with the Buccaneers.

Brady showed love to Godwin on Instagram after the number switch, and today, he took to Instagram again to keep the bromance going.

Take a look at this screenshot from Brady’s Instagram story.

A reminder of just how great Chris Godwin is

This touchdown catch by Bucs wide receiver Chris Godwin against the Atlanta Falcons demonstrates how great he is.

Chris Godwin has a new number, a new hobby, and a new quarterback, but fans can expect to see the same drive and devotion from the former Penn State star in 2020.

After a career-year in 2019, Godwin will be looking to make another big jump in Year 4 of his NFL career. And with Tom Brady as his quarterback, it seems the sky’s the limit for Godwin. You can count on Brady to look for the former No. 12 early and often next season, and hopefully, Brady won’t make poor throws like the one you’ll see below from Jameis Winston.

Take a look back at this touchdown catch by Godwin, who bailed Winston out after the quarterback threw behind him.

That’s just ridiculous concentration right there by Godwin, and it’s plays like that that will likely earn him the next big wide receiver contract.

Chris Godwin is the next WR in line for a big payday

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have another star receiver in Chris Godwin, who could be in line for a big payday soon.

Chris Godwin’s breakout season in 2019 for the Buccaneers helped the third-year receiver earn a Pro Bowl selection and Second-Team All-Pro honors, establishing himself as a certified star alongside fellow Bucs teammate Mike Evans.

Now that Tom Brady is Godwin’s quarterback, and wearing Godwin’s old number, even bigger things are expected in 2020 from the former Penn State star, who finished last season with 86 receptions for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns, career highs across the board.

Another big year could be just what Godwin needs, too, heading into the 2021 offseason, when he will be a free agent. Anthony Holzman-Escareno over at NFL.com believes Godwin is the next receiver in line for a big payday — somewhere in the $19 million/year range — which is why he named Godwin to his All-Paid Team of Tomorrow.

Per Holzman-Escareno:

“Do I buy Godwin topping [Julio] Jones’ $22 million per season? Nah, I don’t. However, he is in line to receive the next large wide receiver extension. Godwin has enjoyed the luxury of playing across from Mike Evans his entire career, and he still has to show he can duplicate his 2019 success. If he continues his trend toward the top of the wide receiver power rankings, his paycheck will soon parallel his rise at the position.”

A nice payday would help Godwin fund his new hobby, but before he cashes in, he’ll have to prove last season’s success wasn’t a fluke.

This art piece of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin is on fire

Take a look at this picture Bucs WR Chris Godwin posted on his Instagram story, featuring him and fellow teammate Mike Evans.

Tom Brady left the New England Patriots this offseason after a 20-year run in favor of beginning a new chapter in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers.

While some may still question Brady’s decision to leave the Patriots, the franchise he won six Super Bowls with, the fact that the Buccaneers boast two of the NFL’s best wide receivers — Mike Evans and Chris Godwin — probably helped make his decision a little easier.

Brady will have the benefit of throwing to two receivers who finished last season with over 1,100-receiving yards. The addition of a future Hall of Fame quarterback like Brady has Buccaneers fans, and fantasy football owners, dreaming about the possibilities this season holds for Tampa Bay’s dynamic duo.

And speaking of dynamic duo, check out this great art piece Godwin posted on his Instagram story, showing him and Evans on fire and ready to battle like a pair of superheroes.
