Bears LT Jason Peters expected to play vs. Bengals

After being listed as questionable for Sunday, Bears LT Jason Peters is expected to play vs. Bengals.

Following a week where nose tackle Eddie Goldman was listed as doubtful and rookie tackle Larry Borom was placed on injured reserve, there was finally some good news on the injury front for the Chicago Bears.

Left tackle Jason Peters, who was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, is expected to play, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Peters suffered a quad injury in the second quarter of last Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams, where he was replaced by Borom.

After Borom suffered an ankle injury in the loss, it was backup right tackle Elijah Wilkinson who took over at left tackle.

If Peters suffers any setbacks, look for Wilkinson to step in for him.

Everything we know heading into Bears’ Week 2 game vs. Bengals

Here’s a rundown of what we know heading into the Bears’ Week 2 game against the Bengals.

The Chicago Bears will host the Cincinnati Bengals at Soldier Field, where the Bears will be looking to record their first win of the season.

Following a brutal 34-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1, there’s plenty for the Bears to prove on offense and defense in a winnable game. But while it’s certainly winnable, it’s no gimme.

Here’s a rundown of what we know heading into Sunday’s home opener against the Bengals.

Bears vs. Bengals: 5 things to watch in Week 2 matchup

From an Andy Dalton revenge opportunity to more Justin Fields, here are five things to watch in the Bears’ Week 2 matchup vs. Bengals.

The Chicago Bears will face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, where they’ll be looking for their first victory of the season against a Bengals team that isn’t a sure-fire win.

From an Andy Dalton revenge opportunity to more Justin Fields, here are five things to watch in the Bears’ Week 2 matchup — and a final prediction!

The Chicago Bears will be looking for their first win of the season when they host the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.

While the offense was far from a bright spot, there were some encouraging signs against a great Rams defense that they can build off headed into this matchup against the Bengals.

Bears final injury report: Eddie Goldman doubtful, Jason Peters questionable vs. Bengals

So much for that arrow pointed up on Bears NT Eddie Goldman, who is doubtful vs. Bengals.

The Chicago Bears released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, where nose tackle Eddie Goldman missed practice for the second straight day and is officially doubtful.

Before Thursday’s practice, Matt Nagy said Goldman’s arrow was pointed up. Just a couple hours later, he didn’t practice. On Friday, he also didn’t practice, which leaves him doubtful for the second straight week. So much for that arrow being pointed up.

There was more encouraging news on the Jason Peters front, as Peters was listed for a third straight day and is listed as questionable for Week 2.

Bears name team captains for Week 2 vs. Bengals

Andy Dalton, Jaylon Johnson and Christian Jones will be the Bears’ captains when they kick things off against the Bengals on Sunday.

As the Chicago Bears gear up their home opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, there will once again be rotating weekly captains for each game, something head coach Matt Nagy established back in 2018.

There will be one captain from each phase — offense, defense and special teams — which will give different players an opportunity to represent their squad throughout the year.

For their Week 2 game against the Bengals, the team captains will be quarterback Andy Dalton, cornerback Jaylon Johnson and linebacker Christian Jones.

It’s not exactly a surprise to find Dalton as the offensive captain heading into a game against his former team. Last year with the Cowboys, Dalton got his “revenge” with a 30-7 victory over the Bengals. The hope is Dalton can find some of that magic to help push Chicago to its first win of the season.

Elsewhere, cornerback Jaylon Johnson was the most promising member of the Bears’ secondary last week, and Chicago is going to need a big game out of him against a Bengals offense that features a slew of weapons in Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd.

Special teams was the most consistent unit for the Bears in last week’s opener, mostly because their services weren’t required much. But with coverage issues being a thing back in preseason, Chicago needs to win in all phases, including special teams, where Jones will be a big factor.

Bears injuries: ‘Arrow is up’ for Eddie Goldman, Jason Peters ahead of Week 2

There’s some encouraging news on the Bears injury front, as Matt Nagy said the “arrow is up” for Eddie Goldman and Jason Peters.

It was a rough start for the Chicago Bears in Week 1, both in regards to the outcome and injuries in their 34-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. But it sounds like there’s some encouraging news on the injury front.

Nose tackle Eddie Goldman missed Week 1 with a knee injury and was deemed “day-to-day.” Left tackle Jason Peters suffered a quad injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s game, where he didn’t return.

While nothing’s guaranteed at this point, Matt Nagy sounded optimistic about both Goldman and Peters’ statuses for Sunday’s game against the Bengals, saying the “arrow is up.”

It certainly helps that both Goldman and Peters were limited participants in Wednesday’s practice, which is more than what rookie tackle Larry Borom can say, as Borom did not practice with an ankle injury.

We’ll see whether Goldman and Peters practice in a limited or full capacity on Thursday. But it’ll be Friday’s practice — and official game designation — that will go a long way in projecting whether they’ll be available for Week 2.
