Michigan State football CB Charles Brantley withdraws name from transfer portal

Charles Brantley is heading back home to East Lansing

While Payton Thorne and Keon Coleman made waves across Spartan nation, making the decision to transfer out of the program, Charles Brantley ended up being the final nail in the coffin. Brantley was the third Spartan to enter the transfer portal on Sunday, putting the icing on the cake.

Fortunately for Spartan fans, Brantley has made the decision to withdraw his name from the NCAA transfer portal and he is coming back home to East Lansing.

While in the portal, Brantley received offers from Colorado and Oklahoma.

Watching three starters from your football team enter the transfer portal in one day can certainly feel pretty shocking, and that’s what happened Sunday for Michigan State football. Quarterback Payton Thorne, wide receiver Keon Coleman and cornerback Charles Brantley all entered the portal.

While some people are frustrated with the news, I think if you look at each player and position group, those anxieties might be calmed a little. We look at each player transferring along with the position group situation they are leaving behind below.

Michigan State football transfer CB Charles Brantley receives second offer

Michigan State transfer CB Charles Brantley receives second offer

Michigan State football cornerback Charles Brantley made headlines Sunday when he entered the NCAA transfer portal. Shortly after entering the portal, Brantley received an offer from Colorado. A day later, he received his second offer, this time from Oklahoma.

This will be an interesting process to monitor. Rumors are Brantley was starting to lose his hold on his starting. While Brantley was a fan favorite, it’s no secret he is a little undersized for a Power Five cornerback (6 feet, 165 pounds), and his numbers were downright bad (66 catches for 722 yards and 9 touchdowns on 91 targets), so it’ll interesting to see where he ends up and how he performs the rest of his career.

Michigan State football transfer CB Charles Brantley gets an offer from Colorado

Michigan State transfer CB Charles Brantley gets an offer from Colorado just a few hours after entering the portal

Sunday evening, Michigan State football cornerback Charles Brantley entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. About an hour and a half later, Brantley announced that he has an offer out from the University of Colorado, home of new coach Deion Sanders.

Based on how the transfer portal works these days, it’s not surprising that Brantley had an offer out so soon, especially since he was a solid defensive back for the Spartans.

Recruiting Round-up: How MSU Football commits performed last weekend

Take a look at how some of the commits in Michigan State’s 2021 recruiting class performed this past weekend.

We have eclipsed the first Friday in November, in what may be the wildest year high school football has ever seen. Some of Michigan State’s commits are still in their regular season, while others are competing in their state playoffs.

Michigan State has added 19 commits to its 2021 recruiting class and as their senior seasons unfold they are giving Spartan nation reasons to be excited about what the future of Michigan State Football has to offer.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights the 2021 class had this past week.

Michigan State recruiting target CB Steffan Johnson announces commitment date

2021 3-star cornerback target Steffan Johnson announced his commitment date on his Twitter Monday morning.

2021 3-star cornerback target Steffan Johnson announced his commitment date on his Twitter Monday morning. Johnson said he will be committing on November 10th.

Johnson, who is 6’0 and 160 pounds, attends Venice High School in Venice, Florida. He is 247sports’ no. 134 cornerback and no. 210 player in the state of Florida for the class of 2021. Johnson’s Crystal Ball Predictions currently have him going to Michigan State with Rutgers being a close second.

Johnson received his offer from MSU on July 13th. He previously committed to Rutgers but de-committed on July 25th. He then narrowed down his list to five schools back in August. Michigan State will have tough competition for his commitment against the likes of Rutgers, South Florida, Florida International, and Florida Atlantic. Perhaps his teammate, and Spartan commit, Charles Brantley can complete the flip and bring Johnson over to East Lansing.

WATCH: Michigan State football commit Charles Brantley lays down huge hit

Watch Michigan State football 2021 3-star commit Charles Brantley lay down an absolutely huge hit in a Venice High School game.

Michigan State football 2021 three-star cornerback commit Charles Brantley is looking mighty impressive this high school football season. This past Friday, Brantley had a huge hit for his Venice High School high school football team.

Check out the hit below, courtesy of H2 Productions:

This is one of many impressive plays from Charles Brantley as of late. He made some strong tackles in a game of the week a week ago.

Note, Brantley officially shut down his recruitment late in August. This is good news as Michigan State lost two commits recently. Jake Renda switched his commitment to Pitt, and Gabe “Spida” Nealy flipped to South Florida.
