The Chargers’ COVID-19 list is starting to trickle down.

The Chargers’ COVID-19 list is starting to trickle down, as only two players were added while seven (five active-roster players) were removed on Wednesday.

The two players added to the reserve list were Kenneth Murray and Storm Norton.

Here’s a look at the players taken off:

EDGE Joey Bosa

C Corey Linsley

WR Jalen Guyton

DB Kemon Hall

S Trey Marshall

K Tristan Vizcaino (practice squad)

LB Cole Christiansen (practice squad)

Even though swing tackles Trey Pipkins and Storm Norton are on the COVID-19 list, Brandon Staley expects them to be back by Sunday.

With 11 Chargers players on the reserve list, there’s still the possibility that they can all be available for this weekend’s game against the Broncos.

Instead of 10 days, asymptomatic players who test positive for COVID-19 will now be required to isolate for just five days. This includes unvaccinated players.

Chargers add 4 players to COVID-19 list, remove 5

As the COVID-19 outbreak on the Chargers continues to develop, the team placed four players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

As the COVID-19 outbreak on the Chargers continues to develop, the team placed four players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday afternoon.

The following players were officially added:

LS Matt Overton

K Dustin Hopkins

OT Trey Pipkins

CB Davontae Harris

EDGE Chris Rumph

QB Chase Daniel

KR/PR Andre Roberts

The Chargers currently have 14 active-roster players, with the most notables being Joey Bosa, Corey Linsley, Mike Williams, Nasir Adderley, and Michael Davis. However, there’s a chance they could play this weekend, given the new guidelines.

The NFL and the NFL Players Association on Tuesday adopted the new Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention guidelines that would reduce the quarantine time to five days from 10 days for all players, including those who are unvaccinated, if they are asymptomatic.

Chargers WR Mike Williams placed on COVID-19 list, out next two games

The Chargers will be without Mike Williams against the Texans, leading to a big opportunity for Josh Palmer.

The Chargers’ COVID-19 outbreak continued, as Mike Williams was the latest to be added to the reserve list.

Williams is unvaccinated, which means he will be out the next ten days, forcing him to miss this weekend’s contest against the Texans and next weekend against the Broncos.

With Williams out, Keenan Allen, Josh Palmer, Jason Moore, Michael Bandy, and Maurice Ffrench make up the wide receiver room. Jalen Guyton, who’s also on the COVID-19 list, is out in Week 16.

One of the biggest questions this offseason is whether or not the Bolts decide to re-sign Williams. Early on in the season, he was making a strong case, but since Week 6 his play has been up and down.

There’s also the possibility of the Chargers placing the franchise tag on Williams.

This season, Williams has 64 receptions for 964 yards and seven touchdowns.

Despite COVID-19 outbreak, no plans on postponing Chargers vs. Texans

The Texans and Chargers have 18 and 11 players on the COVID-19 list, respectively.

The Texans and Chargers have both taken a hit by COVID-19 following the emergence of the Omicron variant, with 18 and 11 players currently on the reserve list, respectively.

Despite the numerous amount of players’ availability up in the air, the NFL has zero plans on canceling or postponing Sunday’s game, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Last week, the league postponed three games. The Raiders vs. Browns was moved to Monday, while Washington vs. Eagles and Seahawks vs. Rams were pushed back to Tuesday.

Los Angeles will already be without star pass rusher Joey Bosa, and there’s the possibility of Austin Ekeler not being available, among others.

On the other hand, Houston’s COVID-19 list is headlined by Brandin Cooks.

The Week 16 kickoff is slated for 10:00 am PT.

Two more Chargers placed on COVID-19 list

Make it 11 Chargers players on the COVID-19 list.

Make it 11 Chargers players on the COVID-19 list.

The latest additions: Austin Ekeler and Jalen Guyton will be out of action until they clear the NFL protocols.

That can be a 10-day isolation period for a positive test, with vaccinated players having the possibility of returning sooner after experiencing two negative tests taken 24 hours apart.

This season, Ekeler has 1,347 total yards and 17 touchdowns, while Guyton has 23 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns.

Chargers add two more players to COVID-19 list

The Chargers’ COVID-19 outbreak now sits at nine players.

The Chargers’ COVID-19 outbreak now sits at nine players.

After placing seven on Monday, Chase Daniel and Joe Gaziano were the latest to be added, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

If Daniel is out this weekend against the Texans, Easton Stick will serve as Justin Herbert’s backup.

Meanwhile, Gaziano has been an integral part of the defensive line rotation. If he can’t go, expect a player, like Andrew Brown to be promoted from the practice squad.

If Daniel or Gaziano are vaccinated, they can use one of three testing options and return if they’re asymptomatic for at least 24 hours, per the new protocols.

Chris Rumph II among 4 other Chargers added to COVID-19 list

The Chargers’ COVID-19 outbreak sits at seven players.

The Chargers’ COVID-19 outbreak is up to seven players.

The team announced that Andre Roberts, Tevaughn Campbell, Trey Marshall, and Chris Rumph are joining Joey Bosa, Kemon Hall and Corey Linsley on the COVID-19 list.

Bosa and Hall were ruled out for this weekend’s game against the Texans. Linsley is day-to-day. The status of Roberts, Campbell, Marshall, and Rumph remains to be seen.

In other roster-related news, Los Angeles activated Rashawn Slater from the COVID-19 list and claimed former Bronco Essang Bassey.

An undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest, Bassey appeared in 12 games in 2020 as a rookie and started three contests before suffering a torn ACL. He recorded one interception, two passes defended, and a fumble recovery.

Chargers EDGE Joey Bosa ruled out vs. Texans

The Chargers will be without their star pass rusher against the Texans.

The Chargers will be without their star pass rusher this Sunday when they take on the Texans, as Joey Bosa has been ruled out after being placed on the COVID-19 list on Monday, per Brandon Staley.

Bosa, who is unvaccinated, must stay isolated for at least 10 days.

In addition, Kemon Hall is also out for this weekend.

As for the other two players who were added to the COVID-19 list, Corey Linsley and Austin Ekeler, they are considered day-to-day, according to Staley.

With the new NFL protocols, Linsley and Ekeler can use one of three testing options and return if they’re asymptomatic for at least 24 hours.

With Bosa out, Chris Rumph II will likely be the starter opposite Uchenna Nwosu, with Kenneth Murray and Emeke Egbule rotating in.

Chargers’ Austin Ekeler, Corey Linsley, Joey Bosa added to COVID-19 list

The Chargers could have a COVID-19 outbreak on their hands.

Corey Linsley, Austin Ekeler, and Joey Bosa are being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, according to The Athletic’s Daniel Popper.

Popper added to his report that more names are expected to be added later.

Chargers DT Linval Joseph placed on reserve/COVID-19 list

The Chargers will be without the veteran nose tackle for the second consecutive week.

Chargers defensive tackle Linval Joseph was placed on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday after testing positive, according to head coach Brandon Staley.

Joseph missed Sunday’s victory over the Steelers with a shoulder injury, and now the team will be without him next weekend when they face the Broncos.

Because of the positive test and since he is unvaccinated, Joseph will be forced to stay away from the team for a minimum of 10 days.

Furthermore, Joseph was working out on the field prior to the game without a mask on. He was within six feet of several players and staff members, and he fist-bumped owner Dean Spanos on his way to the locker room, according to The Athletic’s Daniel Popper.

Therefore, the status of those he was around will be closely monitored.

Joseph’s absence is a blow to the interior part of the defensive line, but Joe Gaziano, Breiden Fehoko, and Forrest Merrill showed capable of a formidable front on Sunday, holding Pittsburgh’s rushing attack to 3.1 yards per carry.

Jerry Tillery and Christian Covington, who missed Week 11 due to COVID-19, will be eligible to return.
