Notre Dame ‘22 commit impressing in spring season, see for yourself

Might not be a hidden gem for long…

A few states across the country opted not to play their high school football seasons in the fall, with the COVID-19 pandemic those states push their contests to the spring. Virginia was one of them and so far so good for Notre Dame defensive end commit Aiden Gobaira.

With a standout performance, Gobaira has been an absolute force so far this season. Through three games, the Irish commit has 25 tackles to go along with six sacks. The longer offseason has helped him add a reported 40-pounds to his frame, which has obviously paid off so far this year. See for yourself.

It seems like the Irish found a diamond in the rough, as they were all over him early in his recruitment which resulted in a commit early last month.

If Gobaira continues to dominate the high school circuit like he has through three weeks, expect this recruit ranking to skyrocket and make Brian Kelly look like a genius.

Edge rushers are always in need and the Irish have found one that projected to be a big time player and is showing that ability so far this year for his Chantilly, Virginia high school team.

As the 2022 class continues to grow, Gobaira is looking like a prospect that has the potential to make a mark early in his Irish career.

Notre Dame Lands Three-Star Defensive End Recruit Aiden Gobaira

Notre Dame’s defensive line just landed a very solid recruit for its future.

Notre Dame’s defensive line just landed a very solid recruit for its future. Weak-side defensive end Aiden Gobaira, weighing in at 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds, has announced his commitment to the Irish. Penn State was the only other major player for the three-star recruit, so it’s not like there was serious competition for him. Still, the Irish will be happy to have the Chantilly, Virginia, native that Mike Elston and Marcus Freeman have high hopes for.

Gobaira has received offers from schools as far back as April, including one from the Irish in May. Per 247Sports, he made an unofficial visit to Notre Dame on Tuesday. Whatever happened during that visit obviously won him over because only a few days later, he knows what his future holds after he completes his prep senior season in the fall. Oh, and his mother is thrilled with his decision, too, which is enough to melt the iciest heart (We’ll forgive the typo):

The 2020-21 Michigan State Football motto is ‘relentless’, and despite the postponement of their season, they are still carrying that energy into the fall, but on the recruiting front. The Spartans have sent out a litany of offers this week, and the latest was sent out to Aiden Gobaira, a 2022 3-star weak side defensive end out of Chantilly, Virginia.

Gobaira is a 6-foot-5, 225-pound pass rusher so he certainly fits the mold of a Mel Tucker lineman with his impressive size. Gobaira is ranked as the No. 15 weak side defensive end in the 2022 recruiting class and the No. 11 ranked player in Virginia according to the 247Sports rankings. He is also their No. 344 ranked player nationally overall.
