5-star 2023 EDGE Chandavian Bradley has Aggies in ‘final 3’

5-star 2023 EDGE Chandavian Bradley has Aggies in ‘final 3’

Platte County’s 5-star 2023 EDGE Chandavian Bradley took to Twitter his “Final 3” on Monday morning – Texas A&M, South Carolina and Tennessee.

247Sports has Bradley rated as the 36th overall prospect in the 2023 class (fifth-rated EDGE). This news comes shortly after his official visits at both South Carolina and in College Station on June 24th and June 17th, respectively. Bradley was hosted on an unofficial visit at Tennessee towards the end of May, as well.

As Bradley determines which of these three programs he sees as the best fit for his football future, there’s no doubt Jimbo and Coach Durkin will work tirelessly to earn Bradley’s commitment to continue to build yet another top recruiting class in 2023.

If the Aggies can land a commitment from Bradley, he would be the highest rated member of their 2023 class thus far, and would join cornerbacks Bravion Rogers and Jayvon Thomas as members of the national top-100 prospects in the Aggies class.

5-star on his way to Clemson

One of the nation’s top players for the 2023 class is on his way to Clemson for a visit Wednesday.  5-star DE Chandavian Bradley from Platte City, MO will be on campus to see what the Tigers have to offer.

Bradley previewed his visit with The Clemson Insider in late May.

“It’s historically one of the best colleges for not just football, but sports in general; seeing as they did win a national championship just a few years ago. But, also I know that they have some of the best facilities in all of college,” said Bradley.

Clemson likes to get a prospect on campus before handing out that coveted offer.

“I know 100% that that’s the reason,” Bradley said. “They’ve already told me that they’re the type of school that really likes to offer in-person and everything.”

5-star, one of nation’s top edge rushers locks in Clemson visit

One of the nation’s top edge rushers in the class of 2023 announced via social media that he will be visiting Clemson in the coming weeks.

The Clemson Insider checked in on Platte County (Platte City, Mo.) five-star edge rusher Chandavian Bradley, who previewed his upcoming visit to Clemson and gave the latest on his recruitment.

Bradley spoke with Clemson’s defensive ends coach Monday, as he officially locked in his visit to campus on June 7.

“From what I have talked to, I really do like Coach Hall a lot,” he said. “Me being able to see him in person and everything is really going to make stuff a lot simpler with us.”

With that being said, what is Bradley hoping to see when he takes his first unofficial visit to Clemson in two weeks?

“As much as I can, honestly,” Bradley said. “I want to go into graphic design in college, that’s going to be a big thing for me to be able to see. Mostly, I want to talk to their sports media people because that’s the main thing I want to do in college.”

There is certainly mutual interest between Clemson and Bradley. That was especially true when he included the Tigers in his top-10 schools, even without an offer.

Clemson hasn’t offered Bradley just yet because he hasn’t visited campus before. That falls under the umbrella of their recruiting strategy and it’s something that the elite pass-rusher understands and is completely aware of.

“I know 100% that that’s the reason,” Bradley said. “They’ve already told me that they’re the type of school that really likes to offer in-person and everything.”

“Most people are completely transparent about stuff like that,” he continued. “Most schools, at least the ones I’ve talked to, are always transparent about stuff like that. I know what I have to do to help them out.”

What would it mean for Bradley to earn an offer from a school like Clemson?

“Obviously, it would mean a lot,” he said. “It’s historically one of the best colleges for not just football, but sports in general; seeing as they did win a national championship just a few years ago. But, also I know that they have some of the best facilities in all of college. Even with the defense obviously not being under the (Brent) Venables regime that they were before, I still know that they’re going to be a defensive powerhouse, as they normally are. A lot of those coaches are still there.”

The opportunity to play early at Clemson is intriguing for a prospect like Bradley. He understands the history of the program and just how competitive the Tigers have matched up defensively against some of the other top programs in the country.

“Being able to play early in a system that I know they can win and I know that they’re gonna develop well,” Bradley said, “I mean that just adds on a bunch to everything else on top of that.”

As far as his recruitment is concerned, Bradley indicated that he’s right where he was before. He released a top-10 in March that included Clemson, Texas A&M, Auburn, LSU, Florida State, Miami, Oregon, Southern Cal, Tennessee and Washington.

He’s only taken a couple of visits since then and he admitted that those visits clearly weren’t enough for him to be ready to decide what he’s going to do with the rest of his life. This upcoming weekend, Bradley will make an unofficial visit to the University of Tennessee.

Being able to see schools and other places around the country is going to be a really big thing for Bradley and his recruitment going forward. It’ll allow him to evaluate how he’s going to take this process.

With that said, what are some of the more important factors that Bradley is looking for in a school at the next level?

“I’ve been a very big advocate for this because of people that I know in the past and everything with mental health issues and stuff,” Bradley said. “I want to be able to make sure that I feel at home at a place that I’m at, just because I know how big a home feeling will play on a person’s mental health.”

A school’s graphic design program will also be a big factor for Bradley as well.

“It’s going to be a huge thing for me because I know that’s what I want to do with the rest of my life,” he continued. “I want to do not just graphic design, but I want to do sports media as a whole. I’m already into doing graphic design, videography and photography. Being able to further my career will be a big play for me.”

The hope is that he’ll be able to see those things when he visits Clemson in two weeks.

In addition to Clemson, Bradley will be visiting the University of South Carolina on June 8. He’s also looking to pay Southern Cal a visit sometime this summer.

Bradley (6-6, 215) currently ranks as the No. 4 edge rusher and the nation’s No. 29 overall prospect for the class of 2023, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Oklahoma Sooners summer recruiting primer for the 2023 recruiting cycle

With the summer on the horizon, we took a look at the names to know as the Sooners look to make a push on the recruiting front for 2023.

Brent Venables and Co. are weeks removed from their first spring as a staff together. It was a successful one with no notable injuries and some standout performances across the board. All told, things went as well as they could’ve hoped considering the positive reviews from the media and recruits in attendance.

The spring game served as an eye-opener for recruits and gave the Oklahoma Sooners some significant momentum to ride as they head into the most crucial time of the year for recruiting. With spring ball done and the team going home to recharge before fall camp, the staff will be all in on recruiting. With that in mind, it’s time to map out the targets to watch as the 2023 class begins to materialize this summer.

It’s time for this week’s edition of The Insider Report. We hope everyone had a great weekend.

More official visitors on tap

Over the weekend, The Clemson Insider was able to confirm two more official visitors for the weekend of June 3-5.

Westlake (Texas) four-star edge rusher Colton Vasek and Buckingham Browne & Nichols School (Cambridge, Mass.) four-star athlete Ronan Hanafin both confirmed their plans to officially visit Clemson via text messages with TCI.

Vasek — a former high school teammate of freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik — was on Clemson’s campus on Monday, March 14 for an unofficial visit and subsequently left town with a scholarship offer in hand.

“When I got offered, it meant a lot,” Vasek said. “Coach Swinney, they don’t offer a ton of people. They offer the fewest number of people in college football. It takes a lot more than being a good football player to be able to play there and for them to offer me, it really meant a lot.”

Where does Clemson currently stand in his recruitment?

Vasek indicated that the Tigers are definitely up there. He referenced how 247Sports’ recruiting services sometimes have certain programs on a prospect’s list of schools listed as “warm” and that’s pretty much how Clemson is with him. Vasek already can’t wait to get up there.

“I would go as far as saying that this is probably my favorite visit I’ve been on out of all the schools I’ve visited so far,” he said.

As for Hanafin, he would make his way to campus over two weeks later. He had been in contact with Clemson wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham prior to his visit and left feeling like he was a part of the Clemson family.

Clemson wants Hanafin to continue to be a part of the family, as the Tigers presented him with a scholarship offer. After practice, he and his family got back to the facilities and Clemson coach Dabo Swinney invited Hanafin into his office.

“We had a great conversation,” he said, “and at the end, he wanted to make it clear how few players they offer. He thought I was a great fit for the program, so he offered me a scholarship.”

5-star pass-rusher planning to visit this summer

TCI recently checked in on Platte County (Platte City, Mo.) five-star edge rusher Chandavian Bradley, who told us that he’s still planning out his summer visits, but is aiming to visit Clemson during the first week of June.

There is certainly mutual interest between Clemson and Bradley. That was especially true when he included the Tigers in his top-10 schools, even without an offer.

Bradley has talked with defensive ends coach Lemanski Hall about a potential offer. He knows that Clemson will eventually present him with a scholarship offer, but first and foremost, they would like to get him on campus first. Bradley has been made aware of how the Tigers like to do things and understands through some of his recruiting contacts that they’re certainly a program that likes to offer in-person.

Bradley (6-6, 215) currently ranks as the No. 4 edge rusher and the nation’s No. 28 overall prospect for the class of 2023, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Clemson, Notre Dame battling for another O-lineman

As we reported in last week’s edition of The Insider Report, Notre Dame appears to be in prime position to land a commitment from one of Clemson’s offensive line targets in the 2023 class — South Point High School (Belmont, N.C.) four-star Sullivan Absher — following his extended stay at Notre Dame two weekends ago.

Clemson O-line target Sam Pendleton of Reagan High School (Pfafftown, N.C.) committed to Notre Dame last Monday, and there’s another O-lineman that both the Tigers and Fighting Irish have been heavily involved with – Oceanside Collegiate Academy (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) four-star Monroe Freeling.

Freeling made his way to campus for Clemson’s second junior day of the year on Saturday, March 5, and he spent several days at Notre Dame two weeks ago in conjunction with its Blue-Gold Game.

Per a source, Freeling and Absher spent a lot of time together when they were both on campus at Notre Dame, and they went out to dinner with each other as well as Irish offensive line coach Harry Hiestand and offensive recruiting coordinator Dre Brown. Freeling and Absher saw each other at Clemson a few months ago as well and are building a bond with one another.

Hiestand has done a good job of recruiting Freeling, gaining his trust, and Notre Dame certainly helped itself with Freeling during his visit to South Bend.

Clemson was the perceived leader in the clubhouse for Freeling following his trip to Tiger Town in March. Did Notre Dame do enough to get back in the mix with his visit there?

“Yeah, for sure,” he said.

Elite Alabama WR looking to visit

TCI recently caught up with a top receiver prospect in the class of 2024, who has been drawing attention from Clemson and Tyler Grisham.

Clay-Chalkville (Pinson, Ala.) four-star Mario Craver — a 5-foot-10, 160-pound sophomore in the class of 2024 — is planning to visit Tiger Town this summer. He’s not sure if he’ll camp at Clemson, but a visit is certainly in the cards.

“I’ve only been talking to Coach Grisham,” Craver said. “He told me that I was definitely an ‘offer guy,’ but Coach Swinney would like to build a relationship and he takes his recruiting really slowly because they’ve only offered (two) ’24s. He was like if he gets me on campus, it would be hard for Coach Swinney to deny.”

What would it mean for him to earn an offer from Clemson?

“It would be special,” he said, “Like I said, only (two) people in the country got ’em or in the world has it? Yeah, that would definitely be special.”

Craver currently ranks as the No. 30 wide receiver and the nation’s No. 172 prospect for the class of 2024, according to 247Sports.

Highly touted WR growing bond with Grisham, planning to camp this summer

We wanted to pass along the latest on another highly regarded wide receiver who remains firmly on Tyler Grisham’s recruiting radar.

Milton (Ga.) High School four-star Debron Gatling – the No. 10 wide receiver and a top-100 national prospect (No. 90 overall) in the 2024 class, per Rivals – continues to stay in touch and strengthen his relationship with Clemson’s receivers coach.

“Definitely,” Gatling told TCI when asked if his bond with Grisham is growing tighter. “I feel like I can just talk to him like he’s one of boys. We just have a real good conversation. Ain’t no nervousness or nothing like that.”

Gatling (6-2, 185) most recently visited Clemson on March 12, when he — and his mother — came away very impressed by the unofficial visit.

“My mom loved it,” Gatling said to TCI after the visit. “She said she really liked it, and she really liked Coach Swinney and Coach Grisham.”

Gatling participated in the Dabo Swinney Camp last summer and told TCI he plans to compete at the camp again this June in hopes of earning an offer from the Tigers. His loaded offer list currently features schools such as Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas, Miami, Florida State, Michigan, Penn State and Oregon.

In addition to Clemson, Gatling’s offseason visits thus far have included UCF, Ole Miss, Miami, Alabama and Southern Cal. He’s looking to check out schools like Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee, Penn State and Florida this summer, along with getting back to Clemson and Alabama.

According to Gatling, Miami, Ole Miss and Tennessee are a few of the schools coming after him the hardest right now, while Alabama has been keeping in contact with him even though the Crimson Tide haven’t yet offered, and he said Clemson is “definitely” up there as far as the schools showing the most interest although the Tigers haven’t yet offered either.

If Clemson comes into the mix with an offer moving forward, it will be a strong contender for Gatling’s services.

“They pull the trigger, I definitely think they’d be one of my top schools,” he said. “I definitely think they’d be one of my top schools if they pull the trigger.”

LSU cracks the list of finalists for 5-star Missouri EDGE

The Tigers will hope to land five-star prospect Chandavian Bradley, but they will face stiff competition.

If there’s one thing that’s been clear in the months since Brian Kelly took over as the head coach at LSU, it’s that he hasn’t been afraid to target highly rated prospects from outside the state of Louisiana.

The latest domino that could potentially fall is Platte City, Missouri, edge rusher Chandavian Bradley. The 6-foot-5-inch, 210-pound player is listed as a five-star recruit and the No. 38 overall player by the 247Sports Composite. He listed LSU among his top 10 schools on Saturday.

The Tigers offered Bradley back in February, and they will hope to sway another talented defender to come to the Bayou.

Auburn makes top schools for five-star Chandavian Bradley

This would be a major get for Auburn.

Auburn offered 5-star edge defender Chandavian Bradley a scholarship earlier this month, but they are already among his top schools. Bradley revealed his top schools on Twitter Saturday and Auburn is one of the 10 schools in the running for one of the top recruits in the country.

The 6-foot-5 Bradley projects as either a defensive end or edge defender but is a great athlete with plenty of upside. Bradley needs to get stronger and refine his technique, but he has a great burst and shows the abillty to bend around opposing offensive lineman.

Bradley is the type of player Bryan Harsin and his staff need to land to quiet the rumblings about the staff’s ability to land elite recruits. He is the No. 1 player from the state of Missouri and a top-5 player at a premium position.

One of the nation’s top-ranked edge rushers dropped his final 10 schools on Saturday afternoon via social media.

Platte County (Platte City, MO) four-star Chandavian Bradley is down to Clemson, Texas A&M, Auburn, LSU, Florida State, Miami, Oregon, USC, Tennessee and Washington.

Bradley (6-6, 217) is ranked as the No. 3 edge rusher in the country and the No. 38 overall prospect in the 2023 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

“The thing that sets Clemson apart is the fact that it’s historical,” Bradley told The Clemson Insider last month. “Coach (Brent) Venables had a great system while he was there and a lot of that staff is still there. It’s gonna be around the exact same defense that it was when he was there.”

Venables, of course, has since departed to become the head coach at Oklahoma, but Lemanski Hall, who remains as Clemson’s defensive ends coach, has cultivated a strong relationship with the talented pass-rusher out of Missouri.

“So far, it’s been really good,” he said of his relationship with Hall. “Really smooth sailing. I’ve gotten along with him very, very well.”

With his sister recently moving to the Palmetto State, Bradley is looking to visit Clemson and Hall sometime this spring.
