Former NFL WR Chad Johnson appears at Bucs practice with Madden staff

Ocho was in the house Friday — which Bucs player do you think should be rated higher in Madden?

One of the NFL’s most notable wide receivers was at Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice, and he came with quite a few people in tow.

Former NFL wideout Chad Johnson (also known as Chad Ochocinco, of course) appeared at Bucs practice on Friday with a crew of Madden NFL ratings adjusters. That appeared to be his primary business there, but he also spoke to Tampa Bay’s wide receivers corps at the end of practice.

The move could possibly come after Baker Mayfield’s rating in Madden went up two after his performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It now sits at a 79 overall, with changes to his overall accuracy, throws under pressure and medium-range throws.

The Bucs will have a chance to increase Mayfield’s rating even further — and take some advice from Ochocinco to heart — when they face off against the New Orleans Saints at 1 p.m. EST on New Year’s Eve Sunday.

Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson calls former Vikings CB the best trash talker he faced

The former Viking was an elite trash talker during his time in the NFL.

Asked to name the best trash talker he played against, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson pegged former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Fred Smoot.

Smoot was signed to a six-year, $34.7 million contract during free agency in 2005. That was one of the biggest free-agent contracts ever awarded to a cornerback at the time. He didn’t last very long in Minnesota, both because of his play on the field and also his role in the infamous Love Boat scandal.

The praise from Ochocinco is warranted, as many over the years have spoken about how good of a trash talker Smoot was.

Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey displays generosity at restaurant

The Baltimore Ravens value a fit for their players not only on the field, but off of it as well. They look for players that are high-charactered individuals, and it shows with their team camaraderie and the impact that they make in the community each and every year.

On Monday, Baltimore cornerback Marlon Humphrey tweeted a photo of a receipt from a restaurant with a caption shouting out former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson. The picture shows Humphrey tipping the subtotal amount of his dinner, totaling 413.39

Johnson is also known to leave generous tips at restaurants. He responded to Humphrey’s tweet, showing love to the Ravens’ cornerback.

Chad Johnson says slowing Hicks and Mack are keys for a Bengals win over Bears

The former star Bengals wide receiver shared his key to victory for the Bengals in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears.

When it comes to the Cincinnati Bengals, you can always count on one man to share his opinion on the team — the one and only Chad Ochocinco.

The long-time wide receiver tweeted some thoughts on the Bengals’ key to victory in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears, mainly focusing on limiting two of Chicago’s big men on the front line, Akiem Hicks and Khalil Mack.

Bengals success in my opinion will be slowing down & limiting pressure from Hicks & Mack, we have too many weapons offensively & with time Burrow will have a ******* day, i can only speak from a offensive perspective & there isn’t a scheme to stop them except pressure.

The offensive line looked much improved in Week 1 against the Vikings, but it certainly will be a challenge to slow down Mack and Hicks. But if they can limit those two, the Bengals have the offensive upside to beat up on a Bears defense that didn’t look so hot against the Rams in Week 1.

The Bengals have a chance to start 2-0 for the first time since 2018.

Chad Ochocinco endorses Michael Thomas for NFL MVP

Debates are raging on who should be the NFL’s Most Valuable Player but Chad Ochocinco says New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas has his vote

[jwplayer WU2Y8Ngc-ThvAeFxT]

It’s tough to decide who deserves recognition as the NFL’s Most Valuable Player this year. Second-year Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been sensational, giving the AFC another young passer to challenge the New England Patriots hegemony (Tom Brady’s team has represented the AFC in 4 of the last 5 Super Bowl matchups). But he’s hardly without competition, with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson expanding his highlight reel every week in an offense built to minimize his impact.

However, former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson, also known as “Ochocinco,” wants to remind everyone that the award goes to the league’s Most Valuable Player, not just the best quarterback. And in his eyes, only one player is worth considering: New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas. Johnson advocated for Thomas on his official Twitter account, praising the Saints’ centerpiece for his consistency in spite of defenses scheming to stop him each and every week:

His past antics aside (like that time Johnson awarded himself his own Pro Football Hall of Fame jacket), Johnson has a point. Thomas is on pace to shatter the record for single-season receptions set by Marvin Harrison, and he’s put up rare efficiency for any receiver, much less someone who sees as high a volume of targets.

There have been games where Thomas was the only Saints player open or able to make a play, and the ball has found him whether Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater, or Taysom Hill were at quarterback. He’s certainly the Saints’ team MVP; the question, then, is whether the NFL’s voters will give him the respect he’s earned.

Former Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson challenged Georgia Bulldog NFL rookie Mecole Hardman Jr. to a race via Twitter. Johnson has been retired from the NFL for several seasons, but wants to race arguably the fastest player on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mecole Hardman Jr. makes NFL players look slow this season. He has been clocked at over 21 miles per hour this season, the sixth fastest speed of any ball-carrier all year:

Chad Johnson is a fast guy, but it’s hard to pick against Mecole Hardman. About the only humans faster than Hardman are track athletes.

Johnson, formerly known as Ochocinco, challenged Hardman via Twitter earlier this week:

A Chad Johnson versus Mecole Hardman Jr. race would be interesting, but is unlikely to happen anytime during the NFL season. I think all Georgia Bulldog fans know who would prevail. Hardman Jr. ran a 4.3 forty at the 2019 NFL Combine before joining the Kansas City Chiefs. Johnson on the other hand ran only a 4.5 back in 2001. It’s hard to imagine that Chad Johnson has gotten that much faster since then.
