Prediction

Bulls 113, Cavaliers 110

Moneyline (ML)

The BULLS (+100) are slight underdogs against the Cavaliers (-121) on the road, but they have posted a respectable 4-4 SU mark across the past eight outings, alternating wins and losses. They haven’t lost two or more in a row since a six-game slide from Dec.30-Jan. 10. They won at home vs. the Cavs 118-116 just four games ago Jan. 18.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered on the Bulls ML will profit $10 if they win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The BULLS (+1, -106) are 1-1 SU/0-2 ATS against the Cavs this season, losing straight-up at Cleveland Oct. 30 by a 117-111 score. However, the Bulls are 9-4-1 ATS in the past 14 as a road underdog, while going 7-3 ATS in the past 10 overall against losing teams.

Chicago is also 12-5 ATS in the past 17 meetings in this series, and 20-7 ATS in the past 27 meetings in Cleveland.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 213.5 (-115) is worth a look. The Over has hit in each of the two meetings this season, and has cashed in five of the past six meetings in Cleveland. Plus, the Over is 6-1 in the past seven home games for the Cavs, and 9-3 in the past 12 meetings overall.

Virginia at Georgia Tech odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Virginia Cavaliers vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks.

The Virginia Cavaliers (11-5, 3-3 ACC) visit the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (8-9, 3-4) Saturday at McCamish Pavilion for an 8 p.m. ET tip-off. We analyze the Virginia-Georgia Tech odds and betting lines, with college basketball betting advice and tips around this matchup.

Virginia at Georgia Tech: Three things you need to know

1. The defending champion Cavaliers have lost three in a row and have fallen out of the  USA TODAY Sports men’s basketball coaches poll. They recently lost at No. 9 Florida State 54-50 Wednesday, shooting 21 of 46 (45.7%) from the floor, hitting just three 3-pointers, and turning the ball over 18 times.

2. The Yellow Jackets have alternated wins and losses over their last eight games, recently losing at home to Notre Dame 78-74 Wednesday. Sophomore G Michael Devoe, who leads the team with 16.5 points per game, scored 22 points and had 9 rebounds in the loss.

3. The Cavaliers have won the last five meetings in the series, going 3-2 ATS. They were favored in all five contests – four by double-digits. Virginia won 64-48 on its last trip to Atlanta as a 7-point favorite Jan. 18, 2018,

Virginia at Georgia Tech: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:45 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Virginia 59, Georgia Tech 52

Moneyline (ML)

VIRGINIA (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY. Sure, the Cavs have lost three in a row, but they had a legitimate shot to win each game. The Yellow Jackets are 0-3 at home in ACC play and their talent just isn’t on the same level.

New to sports betting? Every $1.10 wagered on the Cavaliers ML will profit $1 if they win.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The game is currently a PICK (Pk), which is the same as the ML above where each team is -110 to win outright. If the line moves to where the Cavs are favored and laying points, that becomes my STRONGEST PLAY and I’d pass on the ML. If the line moves in favor of Georgia Tech, stick with the Cavs ML and maybe get +100 odds or better on your risk. However, I don’t see the line moving Ga. Tech’s way.

Over/Under (O/U)

AVOID. The Cavaliers have the No. 1 defense in the country, leading the NCAA at 49.0 points allowed per game. It’s why their O/U’s are always low. This O/U checks in at 111.5 and the Under (-115) is still favored vs. the Over (+106). I do enjoy winning on “Virginia Unders,” as it’s so rewarding when you see a halftime score Under 45, but this 111.5 total is just too short.

LeBron James passed Isiah Thomas for No. 8 spot on all-time assists list

LeBron James will be revered as one of the game’s greatest passers ever.

LeBron James is one of few NBA players in league history who has arguably picked apart teams more with his passing than his scoring ability.

Through his 17 seasons, James has developed into a master of running an offense, and on Monday his talents earned him another milestone. James took hold of the No. 8 spot on the all-time assists leaders list, passing Hall of Fame point guard Isiah Thomas. James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 128-99 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring a team-high 31 points and tallying eight assists.

James currently has 9,067 career assists and sits behind his good friend Chris Paul, who is ranked seventh.

The ultimate playmaker, James will go down as the quintessential point forward. While playing primarily point guard this season, James has had a career year passing the ball. He’s leading the league in assists, averaging a career-high 10.7 assists per game.

The value James holds as a passer, one who can change the dynamic of a game, couldn’t have been more apparent in the Lakers’ win over the Cavaliers. During the first half, James wasn’t as aggressive. He had eight points and two assists heading into halftime — and the Lakers were still only down by one point.

But during the second half, James took control of the game, picking his spots as if he was a masterful chess player. He had 23 points and six assists in the second half.

James’ ability to impact a game in a variety of ways is what will be the strength of his legacy. As he continues his career, it’s not too crazy to think he could be ranked top five all-time in points and assists before he retires.

Prediction

Clippers 117, Cavaliers 101

Moneyline (ML)

The Clippers (-1429) are massive home favorites against the Cavaliers (+825), who are coming of a Monday loss at the Los Angeles Lakers. Cleveland has now lost six of its last eight games, while the Clippers have had incredible success at home this season. However, there just isn’t enough value here to bet on the Clippers, so PASS on this moneyline.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The CLIPPERS (-15.5, –106) open this game as double-digit favorites, and it still might not be enough points. On Monday, the Cavaliers lost by 29 points to a Lakers’ team that was without Anthony Davis. Having to play on the road for the second-straight evening, it doesn’t appear they have a chance to hang with the Clippers. I’m taking LOS ANGELES to cover.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total is set at 225.5 points (Over +105, Under -125), which feels far too high considering how much Cleveland’s offense has struggled this season. The Cavs average less than 105 points per game and will face one of the toughest NBA defenses in the Clippers Tuesday. I like the UNDER here as the Cavs could struggle to score more than 100 against the Clippers.

Prediction

Nuggets 121, Cavaliers 103

Moneyline (ML)

The Nuggets (-834) are heavy favorites, and you have to risk eight times your return. That’s just too expensive. AVOID.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The NUGGETS (-12.5, -110) host the lowly Cavaliers (+12.5, -110), a team they drummed last season by an average of more than 20 points per game in each of the two meetings. The beatings will continue, as C Nikola Jokic should be able to do whatever he pleases against a soft middle for the Cavs.

The Cavs are 1-4 ATS in their past five against winning teams. While the Nuggets are 0-4-2 ATS in the past six at home, they’re 7-2 ATS in the past nine at home after a road trip of a week or longer. The Nuggets are also 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER is the play as the Cavaliers offer very little resistance. The over has hit in five of the past seven in this series, and it’s 9-3 in Cleveland’s last 12 on the road. It hit in Cleveland’s overtime win in Detroit last time out. The over has hit in five in a row for Cleveland, too, and six of the past seven overall for Denver, while going 5-2 in the past seven at home for the Nuggets.

Cavaliers at Pistons: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Pistons 113, Cavaliers 109

Moneyline (ML)

The Pistons (-294) are just too expensive in the second end of this home-and-home. It wouldn’t be advised to risk three times your investment on any team, let alone lowly Detroit Basketball. AVOID.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The CAVALIERS (+7.5, -121) are catching nearly four buckets from the Pistons (-7.5, +100). The Pistons defeated the Cavs 115-113 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Tuesday. The Cavaliers are 3-8 ATS in the past 11 games on the road, so you’d be going against the grain a little here. They’re also just 1-4 ATS in the past five overall.

However, the Pistons are 3-9 ATS in the past 12 games overall, while going 1-5 ATS in the past six games overall. They should pull out a win against their Lake Erie rivals, but they won’t win by more than four buckets.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 221.5 (-106) is worth a small-unit play, as the total has inched over the line in each of the past five meetings. The Over is also 4-0 in the past four for Cleveland, and 8-3 in its last 11 away from home.

For the Pistons, it’s been all about the Over lately, too. The Over is 7-0 in their past seven as a favorite, 5-1 in the past six at home and 7-2 in the previous nine games overall, too.

Prediction

Pistons 114, Cavaliers 107

Moneyline (ML)

The PISTONS (-167) are banged up, but the Cavaliers (+135) are a mess. Pick your poison. Cavs PF Kevin Love is reportedly frustrated with the play of the young players around him, and was visibly upset with SG Collin Sexton last time out. That type of non-unity isn’t going to cut the mustard.

New to sports betting? Every $1.67 wagered on the Pistons ML will profit $1 if they win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The PISTONS (-3.5, -106) are worth a roll of the dice. They’re not that much better in the win-loss column than the Cavaliers (+3.5, -1115). The Pistons are 4-1 ATS in the past five as a favorite, and they’re 5-2 ATS in the past seven against teams with a winning percentage under .400, too.

Cleveland has earned its old pre-LeBron nickname – the Cadavers – back. The Cavs are 5-11-1 ATS in the past 17 at home, and 0-4 ATS in the past four overall.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 214.5 (-115) is attractive. The Over has hit in six of the Pistons’ past eight, and is a perfect 6-0 in their past six as a favorite. For the Cavaliers, the Over has connected in five of the previous seven, and seven of the past 10 as a ‘dog.

49ers Nick Bosa’s favorite sports moment of decade hurt the Warriors

If you’re a Bay Area sports fan, Nick Bosa may be pulling your heart in different directions, after stating his favorite sports moment of the decade.

Bay Area sports fans have been spoiled with championships over the past decade. The San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors have registered multiple championship titles across the past 10 seasons in the Bay Area.

Both the Giants and the Warriors are going through transition periods in 2019. Yet, another Bay Area sports franchise is taking the championship torch and running with it.

On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers beat the Seattle Seahawks in week 17 of the NFL season to seal their first NFC West division title in years. The 49ers now own the number one overall seed in the NFC playoff bracket and will have home-field advantage through the tournament.

A large part of the 49ers’ success has been due to their tenacious defense, and in the middle of it all is their rookie first-round pick, Nick Bosa. Bosa’s added nine sacks in the regular season, and became a fan favorite with the “49ers’ faithful.”

While Bosa may help people forget about the Warriors’ 2019 struggles, his basketball takes might make Bay Area sports fans look the other way.

Bosa did an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Ian Williams, and was asked what his favorite sports moment of the decade was— his answer wasn’t pretty for Warriors’ fans.

“Gotta go with Kyrie’s three against the Warriors,” Bosa answered.

A crippling shot that ended the historic, 73-9 season for the Warriors in loss, but it wasn’t just the game that made that night special, it was HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” as well.

“That was a good night too—that was the ‘Game of Thrones’ Battle of the Bastards episode—so, that was just a great night of television.”

Bosa, originally from Florida, attended Ohio State University for college and was a freshman when the Cavaliers knocked off the Warriors in game seven of the 2016 finals.

Digging back into Bosa’s twitter, it looks like he predicted the Cavaliers extending the 2016 Finals with the Warriors to seven games after Cleveland’s win in game three.

After Bosa stated Irving’s shot was his favorite sports moment of the decade, the rookie sack specialist admitted he knew he was going to be in hot water in the Bay Area.

“But yeah, I’m probably going to get in trouble for that—I’m no basketball fan, but that was fun to watch,” Bosa told NBC Sports Bay Area.

If Bosa can lead the 49ers to their first Super Bowl appearance since 2012, it could mend the gap between his favorite sports moment of the decade, that came at the expense of the Bay Area’s basketball team.

Cavaliers at Celtics: Key injuries

Cavaliers: SG Dylan Windler (shin) is expected to be sidelined at least another week.

Celtics: SF Gordon Hayward (hand) is listed as questionable due to a hand injury after practicing Sunday, but he is not expected to play. SG Romeo Langford (ankle) and C Robert Williams (hip) are each listed as out.

Cavaliers at Celtics: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9:15 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Celtics 112, Cavaliers 91

Moneyline (ML)

The Celtics (-1250) are overwhelming favorites, and no bettor can possibly justify risking more than 12 times their investment no matter how much of a certainty a straight-up victory appears.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered on a Celtics win would profit just $0.80 with an outright victory.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The CELTICS (13.5, –110) have covered the spread in four of the past five games overall, and they’re 4-1-1 ATS across the past six home contests. The Cavaliers (+13.5, -110) have managed a 1-5 ATS record in their past six trips to Boston, and they’re 1-3-1 ATS in the past five meetings overall.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS. The total (215.5) is a risky play based upon the fact Hayward is not expected to be in the lineup, and the Cavaliers’ offensive struggles. If there is any lean, it is the Under (-110), which has connected in 12 of the past 17 meetings at TD Garden.

Cavaliers at 76ers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 12:45 p.m. ET.

Prediction

76ers 113, Cavaliers 93

Moneyline (ML)

The 76ers (-833) are overwhelming favorites, and there is no way to justify risking eight times your money for a small return. The Cavaliers (+550) are giant underdogs because they’re not a good team, and they might be without their best player, Love, who is under the weather.

New to sports betting? Every $1 wagered on a Philadelphia win profits $0.12 if the 76ers prevail. (Ex: Bet $10 to win $1.20, $20 to win $2.40, $83.33 to win $10).

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Take the 76ERS (-11.5, –115), even though they’ll be a little bit short-handed without Embiid. They’ll still be in good shape against the struggling Cavs.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS. The Under has cashed in 19 of the past 27 meetings in this series, and 10 of the past 14 battles in Philadelphia. With Embiid out, and Love possibly joining him, the defense actually could be lacking. There is just too much uncertainty to wade into the total pool here.
