Alabama Baseball lands Coastal Carolina transfer catcher Kameron Guangorena

Coastal Carolina transfer catcher Kameron Guangorena is transferring to Alabama. Guangorena began his career at Cal-State Fullerton before transferring to Coastal Carolina.

Coastal Carolina transfer catcher Kameron Guangorena will be transferring to Alabama with two years of eligibility remaining.

Guangorena began his college career at Cal-State Fullerton in 2019. The California native spent two seasons with the Titans.

As a true freshman, Guangorena held a .261 batting average with one home run and 26 runs batted in.

Guangorena’s second season with the Titans was shortened due to COVID-19. In 2021, Guangorena was given a medical redshirt due to injury.

Following his junior season, Guangorena transferred to Coastal Carolina. During his first season with the Chanticleers, Guangorena made 30 starts while finishing with a .282 batting average. He also hit two home runs and drove in seven runs.

In 2023, Guangorena hit .242 batting average with two home runs and seven runs batted in. He made six starts behind the plate and played in 45 games.

Alabama saw catcher Dominic Tamez sign with the Chicago White Sox in the offseason. The Tide will return starting catcher Mac Guscette and have brought in Ole Miss transfer catcher Will Plattner.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama baseball program and its involvement in the NCAA transfer portal.

Alabama baseball lands Ole Miss transfer catcher Will Plattner

Ole Miss transfer catcher Will Plattner announced that he was transferring to Alabama on Friday. Plattner spent one season with the Rebels.

The Alabama baseball program received a commitment from Ole Miss transfer Will Plattner on Friday.

Plattner spent one season at Ole Miss. He made two starts as a catcher and played in seven games in total. The Illinois native amassed a .300 batting average and compiled a 1.000 fielding percentage behind the plate.

The best game that Plattner had as a freshman came against Alcorn State on April 12. He went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, four runs scored, and a walk.

In 2023, Alabama rotated at the catcher position. Mac Guscette and Dominic Tamez both started a handful of games behind the plate. In 2024, I would expect Plattner to be in the mix to play a lot at catcher. With Guscette returning, he will likely begin the season as the Crimson Tide’s backup catcher.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama baseball program.

The Alabama softball team received a huge addition to its roster for next season on Friday. Texas A&M transfer Riley Valentine announced that she was transferring to Alabama.

Valentine, an Arizona native, spent one season with the Aggies. She played in 40 games while making 20 starts. As a freshman, she amassed a .188 batting average while hitting six home runs and driving in 20 runs.

Despite having a low batting average, Valentine did have a .325 on-base percentage.

With catcher Ally Shipman graduating, Valentine could compete for the starting job behind the plate. The majority of her starts as a freshman came at catcher.

Over the course of the offseason, the Alabama coaching staff has landed two other transfers. Central Arkansas transfer pitcher Kayla Beaver and LSU transfer pitcher Alea Johnson.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama softball program and its involvement in the transfer portal.

Alabama catcher Jaxson West transferring to Florida State

Alabama catcher Jaxson West announced that he is transferring to Florida State on Thursday via Twitter. West spent one season with the Crimson Tide.

Alabama catcher Jaxson West announced that he was transferring to Florida State on Thursday via his Twitter account.

West spent one season with the Crimson Tide. Coming out of high school, he was regarded as the No. 4 catcher and No. 34 overall prospect in the state by Perfect Game USA.

During his freshman season, West appeared in 20 games while making four starts. He finished the season with a .185 batting average with one home run and five runs batted in.

With Alabama hiring Rob Vaughn as its next head coach, West decided to explore his options in the transfer portal. Now, he will be transferring to his hometown to play for the Seminoles.

Historically, Florida State has a track record for developing some of the top talents in the country and is commonly known for having championship-caliber teams. Since 2000, the Seminoles have won seven conference titles.

After finishing with a 23-31 record last season, the ‘Noles are bringing in a big-time bat for next season with West jumping on board. West’s decision to transfer should not hurt Alabama all that much. The Tide will return both Mac Guscette and Dominic Tamez next season. The two were the top two catchers on the depth chart.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama baseball program and its involvement in the transfer portal.

Pacific Northwest fans are enjoying high level of play from their beloved sports franchises. The Seahawks are tied for first in the NFC West, the Kraken are one of the hottest teams in the NHL, and the long suffering Mariners finally broke their 21-year playoff drought this past fall.

The Mariners captured the hearts of fans across the region, and reminded the world why Seattle is a great baseball town. Of a season filled with countless memorable moments, none was bigger than the moment the Mariners finally ended the drought.

On October 1st, tied 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, catcher Cal Raleigh took to the plate to hit a solo home run deep to right field. The rest, as they say, is history.

Cal Raleigh has earned himself legend status in the City of Seattle, and on Sunday he will be honored by the neighboring Seahawks. Raleigh will partake in the time-honored Seahawk tradition of raising the 12th Man Flag in the south end zone.

Raleigh’s 27 home runs weren’t just a Mariners franchise record for a catcher, it actually lead all of Major League Baseball at the position.

When the Mariners resume in the Spring, it’s safe to say there will be plenty of No. 29 jerseys at T-Mobile Park. But for now, Raleigh will be wearing navy and action green to hype up the 12th Man.
