Yankees’ Carlos Rodón seemingly popped blister at the worst time during his World Series start

Ouch.

Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodón seemingly popped a blister on his hand at the worst time during his World Series Game 2 start.

Rodón did not have a good night. In just over three innings, he gave up six hits and four runs, including three home runs. But there might be an, albeit very painful, explanation for the off night.

In the bottom of the third, cameras caught a glimpse of the New York pitcher seemingly gripping his finger between pitches. But it gets worse. Rodón might have popped a blister — OUCH — on his left hand. Cameras also caught some blood smeared on his gray pants. (See the six-second mark of the clip below.)

Of course, fans had a field day with this discovery. Here’s how people reacted to Rodón’s night:

Dylan Crews hits his first MLB homer, leads Nationals to series win over the Yankees

Dylan Crews hit his first big-league bomb on Wednesday night as Washington clinched a series win.

After going hitless in the first game of his MLB career, [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag] has turned up the heat in the past two games. On Tuesday night, he finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Wednesday, he finished the game 2-for-4 with a homer, a double, two RBI and two strikeouts. Those stats helped the Nationals pull off a series win against the New York Yankees.

In his first at-bat of the game, Crews faced a 1-0 count from [autotag]Carlos Rodon[/autotag] and he got a 93 MPH inside fastball and DC did not miss it. He sent it on a ride at 399 feet to left field as it landed in the bullpen.

That wasn’t all for Crews in the game as he faced Rodon once again in the fourth inning and he got the best of him again. Again, he got an inside fastball and again he did not miss. Crews hit this one to left-center and it caromed off of the wall for an RBI double.

That increased the Nats lead to 5-1 and Washington would not look back. The Nats won the game 5-2 and DC looks to be fitting in just fine at the major league level.

Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon was super apologetic after hitting Jeff McNeil with a 95 mph fastball

That was a nice gesture.

You’re not going to find a baseball player who enjoys getting hit by the pitch. It’s a painful, scary moment that only get worse when the hitter believes it was done intentionally.

It’s usually easy to tell intent from the pitcher’s reaction, and in Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodon’s case on Wednesday night, he absolutely didn’t mean to hit the Mets’ Jeff McNeil.

With one out in the fourth inning and the Yankees up a run, Rodon hit McNeil in the back with a fastball that was clocked at 95.3 mph. McNeil went to the ground in pain and immediately threw his helmet out of frustration. The pitch’s location — right between the numbers — wasn’t a spot that we normally see big-league pitchers hit by accident. But Rodon seemed to be a rare exception.

Rodon tried to make it clear to McNeil that he wasn’t trying to hit him and apologized to McNeil when he made his way to first base.

He also offered a second apology to McNeil as the Mets infielder returned to the dugout. It looked like Rodon said, “My bad, dude. I’m sorry.”

If the pitch was intentional, Rodon wouldn’t have made such a huge effort to make it seem accidental. And after the game, McNeil told reporters that he knew it wasn’t on purpose. He was just frustrated because getting hit by a 95 mph fastball isn’t an enjoyable experience.

He said via the New York Post:

“I was just frustrated. I got hit with a 96 mph fastball. I get a little frustrated sometimes. I know he’s had a little control trouble in his last starts and he was trying to throw strikes. One got away. It happens.”

Fans also appreciated how Rodon checked on McNeil.

Carlos Rodon blew a kiss to Yankees fans in the stands after giving up 4 runs in first 2 innings

Yankees fans did not like this sarcastic show of affection from Carlos Rodon.

It’s safe to say Carlos Rodon’s first few weeks with the New York Yankees are not going as planned.

Earlier this month, Rodon was activated off the injured list and made his first start with the Yankees on July 7. In his two starts before Wednesday, Rodon was 0-2 with a 5.23 ERA after giving up six earned runs in 10.1 innings played.

Things only got worse on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels, as Rodon allowed four runs — on two homers — in the first two innings of play. His response after closing out the side in the second inning? To blow a kiss to Yankees fans in the stands who were booing him.

Yikes! And lest we all forget, Rodon signed a six-year deal with the Yankees back in December 2022 as one of their big moves of the offseason. This is definitely not the way anyone wanted this new era to begin, on either side.

Yankees fans were understandably annoyed with Rodon’s sarcastic kiss to fans in the stands.

Giants pitcher Carlos Rodon used his foot to make a mind-blowing play that had MLB fans in awe

This was absolutely ridiculous.

Giants pitcher Carlos Rodon was very busy with his feet during last night’s loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Earlier we showed you the video of Rodon angrily kicking a bat that ended up hitting his teammate Thairo Estrada in the leg. Rodon said after the game that he felt “stupid” for doing that.

While that was a dumb thing for him to do, he did something really cool with his left foot that led to one of the luckiest plays you’ll ever see in a baseball game.

I’m guessing he didn’t do this on purpose but I’m still giving him credit for this because it was pretty darn awesome:

How in the world did that ball end up in his glove?

Twitter was in awe.

Carlos Rodon angrily kicked a bat right into his Giants teammate’s leg, felt ‘stupid’ about it

Carlos Rodon kicked a bat into his own teammate. Not good!

Carlos Rodon is having himself an All-Star season for the San Francisco Giants, but he didn’t have his best stuff on Tuesday night when he gave up five earned runs — including a pair of dingers — against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

So it was in the middle of that start that he came off the mound and angrily kicked a bat in the dugout to express his anger.

Unfortunately, his teammate Thairo Estrada was right there and took the flying bat to his leg and looked hurt.

At least Rodon owned up to it with reporters later on. But this was definitely not a great thing:
