The countdown to kickoff for the Nebraska Cornhuskers is nearly down to single digits with just a mere 11 days remaining until the Huskers kickoff their 2024 season on August 31 against the UTEP Miners.
With 11 days left, sophomore defensive lineman Cameron Lenhardt is in the spotlight.
A native of Staten Island, New York, Lenhardt attended IMG Academy in Florida for his final two seasons of high school football. In his recruitment, he eventually committed to the Huskers as part of their 2023 recruiting class over both Michigan State and Penn State.
As a true freshman, Lenhardt made an immediate impact, playing in 10 games and even started four games for the Huskers last season including the season opener against Minnesota. By starting that game, he was only the second true freshman defensive lineman ever to start a game in program history and the first to do so in a season opener.
In those 10 games, he recorded 16 tackles including five tackles for loss and three sacks.
This upcoming season, Lenhardt will once again be a key member of the Huskers defensive line rotation as he’ll split a majority of the reps with Ty Robinson as defensive tackle.
