Florida likely to get official visit from this 5-star WR

While no dates have been locked in for that official visit, Coleman is looking to get back to Gainesville quickly.

The Florida Gators recently hosted five-star Central High (Phenix City, Alabama) wide receiver [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag] on an unofficial visit last week, according to On3, and it might not be too long before Billy Napier and Co. see him back on campus.

“On this visit, I saw the campus, I watched some film, I got to go see an alligator with coach Billy Gonzales, I spent time with coach Napier and this visit really changed how I feel about Florida,” Coleman said to On3’s Chad Simmons. “I know Florida is definitely getting an official visit.”

While no dates have been locked in for that official visit, Coleman is looking to get back to Gainesville quickly. He’s scheduled to be at Clemson over the first weekend of June and LSU at the end of the month, so Florida could fit somewhere in the middle.

Auburn and Florida State are likely to get him on campus during the fall, and Georgia is the other program pushing for an official visit. The On3 recruiting prediction machine currently gives Auburn the best odds to land him at 79.6% but things could change after his June visits.

Coleman is a five-star receiver, according to 247Sports, ESPN and On3. Rivals.com hasn’t quite caught up on this kid’s talent yet and has him listed as a three-star talent, but Coleman’s meteoric rise — he was unranked before jumping up to No. 20 overall in February — somewhat explains the delay.

On3 is the most bullish on Coleman, ranking him at No. 6 overall and No. 2 among receivers in the class of 2024. ESPN has him at Nos. 7 and 1, respectively, which leads to an industry ranking (weighted average) of No. 25 nationally and No. 6 among pass catchers.

2024 5-star WR Cam Coleman is visting Texas A&M this weekend

Texas A&M is reportedely in the midst of hosting standout 2024 5-star wide receiver Cam Coleman this weekend.

Amidst Texas A&M Baseball’s run in the SEC Tournament this week, head coach Jimbo Fisher and his staff have been hard at work, as it has been reported that 2024 five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman is visiting College Station this weekend.

According to 247Sports, Coleman, who is entering his senior season at Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama, is currently positioned as the 17th-ranked player in the 2024 cycle, the 5th-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the 3rd-ranked player in the always talent-rich state of Alabama.

Standing at 6-3 and just over 180 pounds, Coleman is the definition of size, speed, and athleticism while showing incredible agility and fluidity as an athlete in space, possessing the straight-line speed and explosiveness off the line of scrimmage needed to excel at the next level. His height and athletic frame are the building blocks to develop into a No.1 receiving option at the X position for the Aggies, who are still looking to replace what they lost in former 2022 five-star receiver Chris Marshall.

During his 2022 junior season, Coleman recorded 31 receptions for 542 yards and six touchdowns. After taking an unofficial visit to Texas A&M on April 15, the fact that he’s already back for a second visit just a month later is a positive sign moving forward.

Auburn is ‘high on the list’ for in-state safety Red Morgan

He is one of several Auburn targets at Central-Phenix City.

Auburn hosted a talented group of local prospects Thursday in safety [autotag]Red Morgan[/autotag], five-star wide receiver [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag], offensive lineman [autotag]Mal Waldrep[/autotag] and wide receiver [autotag]Daylyn Upshaw[/autotag]. All four play for nearby Central-Phienix City and have Auburn offers.

The group was hosted by Auburn wide receivers coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] and while he plays on the opposite side of the ball, Morgan enjoyed his time with Davis.

“It feels like home,” he told Auburn Live’s Jeffrey Lee of the campus. “It does. The coaches, how they treat us, they feel like father figures. Coach Davis, he’s not even my position coach, but the relationship we have … I mess with Coach Davis.”

It was Morgan’s second visit under the new staff and it made quite the impression on the 6-foot, 175-pounder.

“They’re high on the list,” he added.

Morgan is the No. 499 overall player and No. 49 safety in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 27 player in Alabama.

Morgan is planning to return to Auburn for an official visit sometime in June before announcing his commitment either during the summer or early in the fall. He already has official visits scheduled with Michigan State (June 2), Cincinnati (June 9) and Miami (June 30).

The Tigers have already landed four-star cornerbacks [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] and [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag] in the 2024 recruiting cycle but are still looking for their first commit at safety.

Friday Night Notes: Top ’25 QB visits Ohio State, Oregon’s big OT prospect and more

Bryce Underwood is the No. 1 quarterback prospect and ranks third nationally in the class of 2025.

USA TODAY High School Sports‘ Friday Night Notes is a weekly high school recruiting recap that looks at the latest news from around the country—from the Class of 2023 to ’24 and beyond.

Belleville (Mich.) five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood is the No. 1 QB prospect in the class of 2025 and ranks third nationally.

It appears that Underwood’s recruitment might be becoming a battle between two of the most bitter rivals in college football: Ohio State and Michigan. Naturally, that rivalry has spilled over into the recruiting race, where the Wolverines and Buckeyes rank first and second respectively in the 2024 cycle. Obviously, landing a rare talent like Underwood at the game’s most-important position would be a massive win for one Big Ten power over the other.

Last weekend, Underwood visited the Ohio State campus after participating in the Under Armour All-American Camp Series in Columbus. Underwood shared a photo of himself decked out in Buckeyes gear and a WWE championship belt.

Underwood told Steve Wiltfong at 247Sports that he and his family enjoyed their visit.

However, his home state is Michigan, where he ranks as the top player overall and the Wolverines are the favorite to get Underwood’s commitment. He has reportedly visited their campus three times in the last couple of months. On3’s prediction model is pegging their chances at 35.5%. Next it’s Michigan State (22.3%), then Ohio State (11.6%).

Of course these are far from the only programs that are interested. According to 247 Sports, Underwood has received offers from 35 schools.

5-star receiver locks in June official visit with LSU

Auburn is currently a heavy favorite for in-state receiver Cam Coleman, but LSU will hope to use its late June visit to sway him.

The Tigers already have 14 players committed in a 2024 recruiting class that ranks in the top 10 nationally, but they still have some top targets they’re trying to bring aboard.

One of them, Phenix City (Ala.) Central five-star receiver [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag], has recently shored up a pair of official visit plans for the month of June. The No. 21 prospect nationally per 247Sports will visit Clemson on June 2-4 before taking a trip to Baton Rouge to meet with [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and the Tigers from June 23-25, per On3’s Chad Simmons.

Coleman took an unofficial visit back in March, but he said he’s excited to come back after that trip was apparently cut short. He told On3 that he’s in heavy contact with receivers coach [autotag]Cortez Hankton[/autotag] as well as 2024 quarterback commit [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag].

It sounds like his other three official visits are likely to go to Kentucky, Auburn and Florida State. He plans to visit the Wildcats in June as well but said he will hold off on visiting Auburn or Tallahassee until the fall.

AU is currently considered the heavy favorite to land the in-state prospect per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine at 82.3%. However, LSU will hope to pull him away from Hugh Freeze and add an extremely talented wideout to the 2024 class.

Auburn is one of the schools 4-star WR Cam Coleman is hearing from the most

The Tigers are in heavy pursuit of the talented in-state wide receiver.

[autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag] is the latest impressive wide receiver to come out of Phoenix City, Alabama. The four-star prospect already has over 15 scholarship offers but he is hearing from five schools the most.

Coleman told On3’s Jeremy Johnson that he is hearing from Auburn, Alabama, Clemson, Penn State, and Florida State the most.

Auburn was one of the first schools to extend an offer to the 6-foot-3, 180-pound playmaker. They offered him on May 24, 2022, and despite the coaching change are still making him a priority with wide receiver coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] leading the charge.

“On coach (Marcus) Davis‘ first day, he introduced himself to me and we’ve been in contact ever since,” Coleman told On3. “They have a lot of experience with Auburn and across the NFL and college football.”

Coleman is the No. 262 overall player and No. 39 wide receiver in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 16 player from Alabama in the 2024 recruiting class.

Auburn is looking to add bigger-bodied wide receivers that thrive in [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag]’s offense and Coleman is undeniably one of their top targets. He caught 31 passes for 542 yards and six touchdowns last season for Central-Phenix City.
