LSU offers 2024 four-star tight end

Caleb Odom is a versatile tight end that can line up out wide, as well.

[autotag]Caleb Odom[/autotag] is a 6-foot-5, 205-pound, four-star tight end from the class of 2024. He is from Carrollton, Georgia, where he plays for Carrollton High School. The Carrollton Trojans finished the 2022 season 14-1 with a loss to Mill Creek in the Georgia 7A state championship game.

There are currently no crystal ball projections for Odom but Georgia Tech is a 26% favorite to land him per On3.

Film Analysis: Odom has one of the best quarterbacks in the country leading his offense in JuJu Lewis and he seems to be his favorite target. Odom is a tight end that can line up out wide as a wide receiver and torch teams with his speed.

Spartans offer 2024 4-star Georgia TE Caleb Odom

Michigan State football is looking to pick up a commitment from one of the top tight ends in the 2024 class

Michigan State football is looking to pick up a commitment from one of the top tight ends in the 2024 class.

Michigan State joins a long list of schools to have offered Odom, with more than 20 programs already extending him a scholarship, according to 247Sports. Others to have offered Odom includes Auburn, Florida, LSU, Colorado, Miami (FL), Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Tennessee.

Oklahoma Sooners offer 2024 4-Star TE Caleb Odom

The Oklahoma Sooners went to the southeast to offer 2024 4-Star TE Caleb Odom.

The Oklahoma Sooners have been busy on the recruiting trail prioritizing 2024 prospects. Their latest [autotag]offer[/autotag] goes out to four-star tight end Caleb Odom out of Georgia.

The Carrollton, Ga. native is a four-star prospect according to 247Sports, On3, and ESPN and a top 15 tight end in the nation. He’s a big play threat in the passing game because of his speed and jump-ball ability.

Odom is 6-foot-5 and just over 200 pounds. Though he needs to add some bulk to his frame, he’s got the athleticism and receiving prowess to be a difference-maker at the position at the collegiate level.

He currently holds 20 Power Five offers, seven of which come from the SEC, including Oklahoma. As he gets more exposure at tight end in 7-on-7 leagues and camps, look for his recruiting profile and his offer sheet to grow considerably ahead of the 2024 early signing period and national signing day.

Odom is a good route runner with the size to break tackles, the agility to make people miss, and the athleticism to make plays on the football in the air. He reminds me of former Texas A&M and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans.

Odom has the speed to beat linebackers and the size and athleticism to beat defensive backs in the passing game. To describe Caleb Odom in one word: Mismatch.

Badgers offer four-star tight end from Georgia

Wisconsin offered Caleb Odom, a class of 2024 four-star tight end from Georgia on Monday.

Wisconsin offered Caleb Odom, a four-star tight end from Georgia on Monday. The 6-foot-5, 205 pound class of 2024 athlete still has one more season with Carrollton High School before making the leap to the college level.

The Badgers became the 19th Division 1 school to offer Odom, including Illinois and Maryland within the Big Ten. He has yet to receive an offer from the back-to-back National Championship winning Georgia Bulldogs, but Georgia Tech and Georgia State have offered.

As of right now, Wisconsin has brought in two commitments for the class of 2024, four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer (The Woodlands, Texas) and Austin Alexander (Chicago Heights, Illinois).

Odom could potentially be a top target for Mettauer within Phil Longo’s offense for years to come if the Badgers can secure his commitment.

Florida impresses this 4-star tight end over weekend visit

Florida is searching for a tight end in the 2024 recruiting cycle, and position coach William Peagler is getting close with this Peach State talent.

Four-star Carrollton (Georgia) tight end [autotag]Caleb Odom[/autotag] was on campus at the University of Florida this weekend and things went about as well as it could have for an unofficial visit.

In fact, Odom left Florida so impressed with the university and football program that he plans on using one of his five official visits to return to UF, according to 247Sports.

“It’s definitely up there now,” he said to Swamp247’s Blake Alderman. “It’s definitely a place I want to take an official to. Get more in-depth with them. It’s only going to get better with them.”

Tight ends coach [autotag]William Peagler[/autotag] has led the charge for Florida so far in Odom’s recruitment. Peagler is constantly in contact with Odom, texting him as early as 6 a.m. and well into the night if he has a basketball game to play in.

Florida is sitting in a great spot with Odom, but the Gators will have plenty of competition for the No. 13 tight end on the 247Sports composite. Ole Miss, Penn State and Tennessee are some of the programs he’s looking at for his other official visits, and Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes just joined the race as well.

Odom wants things to be wrapped up by the end of the summer (late July/August), so those official visits should come over the spring.

Florida getting 4-star 2024 TE on campus in late January

Florida is loading up the schedule for recruiting visits once the dead period lifts, and this four-star Georgia tight end has his date locked in already.

The Florida Gators are loading up the calendar with recruiting visits for when the dead period lifts, and four-star Carrollton (Georgia) tight end [autotag]Caleb Odom[/autotag] is one of many prep players visiting the Swamp later this month.

“I’ll be up the 21st of this month (January),” Odom said to Gators Online. “I feel like the relationship with Florida is great. I’m always talking with the coaches, especially coach (William) Peagler, the tight ends coach. He’s talked to my mom, so the relationship is great and still developing.”

Odom’s relationship with Florida is still clearly growing, but he should expect the Gators to press hard after a strong junior year at the prep level. Odom was a standout player this season in the Georgia state playoffs and could see his draft stock rise considerably over the next few months.

Odom is ranked No. 230 overall on the On3 consensus and at No. 14 among tight ends in the class of 2024, but the site’s individual rankings are far more bullish on him at No. 112 overall and No. 6 at his position.

The recruiting prediction machine has Georgia Tech (22.2%), Vanderbilt (19.4%), Ole Miss (16.7%) and Louisville (13.9%) as the top four programs in the race right now, but a visit to Florida should change that.

Clemson in hot pursuit of 4-star Peach State TE

Clemson’s tight end recruiting in the class of 2024 is only getting started and The Clemson Insider has the latest on a name worth monitoring in Carrollton (Ga.) four-star Caleb Odom.

TCI recently caught up with Odom, who was one of the top prospects in attendance for Clemson’s 30-20 win over NC State at Death Valley on Saturday, Oct. 1.

“It was crazy,” Odom said in a phone interview recently regarding his visit. “The atmosphere was just electric. It was just insane. I just felt like the crowd was crazy. I don’t know, I’ve never seen something like the pregame, how they roll out of the buses and run down the hill. That kind of stood out to me, definitely the pregame. I just felt like the fans were cheering nonstop. I just felt like it was crazy.”

It was a great game for Clemson to play host to a tight end recruit like Odom because the Tigers’ tight ends, Davis Allen and Jake Briningstool, combined for 75 yards and a touchdown in the win. Allen would also later be named Clemson’s Offensive Player of the Game.

“It was actually crazy,” he said. “I got to talk to Davis Allen before the game. I actually knew him. He went to Calhoun and one of my teachers knew him from a connection. I was able to talk to him for a little bit. Watching them use the tight ends, especially in that game, but also in Wake Forest, they were able to do a lot with them. I like the type of gameplan they have for their tight ends.”

Odom got his first feel for Dabo Swinney’s program as soon as he stepped foot on campus.

“When all the recruits first got there, Coach Swinney gave a big speech,” Odom said. “He was just talking about how Clemson is a place where you’ll be able to build relationships beyond football and just how education is very important. I feel like that was very important to me because it could be a place where I’d be wanting to go as a home.”

Odom has been in constant contact with Kyle Richardson since Sept. 1. It was Clemson’s tight ends coach who extended Odom the invitation to the NC State game and made sure he spoke with him at length during his first trip to The Valley.

“It was good to finally see who I was talking to,” Odom said.

Odom said that his relationship with Richardson is one of the better ones that he currently has and that it was nice to finally put a name to a face.

“He was just telling me that they love what they see on film and stuff,” Odom recalled of his conversation with Richardson. “He was telling me that they take the offer process really slowly. He was gonna give me a call later (last) week, so hopefully it’s good news. He was just telling me that they were glad to have me down.”

According to Odom, Richardson said that he likes his ability as a route runner for his size, standing at 6-foot-6, 215 pounds, but Clemson’s tight ends coach also like his ability to go up and make contested catches.

In any event, Odom did say that Richardson told him that he’s an offer-worthy prospect.

“Hopefully they will offer soon, though, I would really love it,” he said regarding a potential offer from Clemson. “Just knowing how they treat the players outside of football… Just knowing I can be in an environment like that, especially during game days with the crowd. A place like Death Valley is just crazy.”

Odom said he talked to Richardson the other day about getting up for the Clemson-Miami game on Nov. 19.

“I’m definitely gonna try to get back up for that game,” Odom added.

In addition to Clemson, Odom mentions that schools like LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and North Carolina, as well as a lot of other SEC and ACC programs, have been showing extensive interest.

Odom, the nation’s No. 14 overall tight end in the class of 2024, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, is a self-described route-running technician, who hones in on his blocking abilities on the perimeter. He mostly plays receiver at Carrollton, but he’s the type of player that’s gonna get after it on every play.

We hope everyone had a great weekend.

It’s time for this week’s edition of The Insider Report.

Clemson making a move with Peach State TE

Clemson’s tight end recruiting in the class of 2024 is only getting started and a name worth monitoring is Carrollton (Ga.) four-star Caleb Odom (pictured above).

The Clemson Insider recently caught up with Odom, who was one of the top prospects in attendance for Clemson’s 30-20 win over NC State at Death Valley on Saturday, Oct. 1.

“It was crazy,” Odom said in a phone interview recently regarding his visit. “The atmosphere was just electric. It was just insane. I just felt like the crowd was crazy. A place like Death Valley is just crazy.”

Tigers making a move with 5-star linebacker

It’s no longer a secret that Clemson is one of the favorite schools of Jadon Perlotte.

The class of 2025 five-star linebacker out of Buford (Ga.) recently made his first-ever gameday visit to Death Valley for Clemson’s top-10 showdown against NC State.

“It was great,” Perlotte recently told The Clemson Insider regarding his visit. “That’s the most fans I’ve ever seen and we got to run down the hill. I didn’t see any open spots.”

Perlotte said that he has a great relationship with most of Clemson’s staff and spent a lot of time around the Tigers’ defensive assiatnts before and after last Saturday’s game.

What is it about Clemson that appeals to a prospect like Perlotte?

“The culture,” he said. “I sit in there and listen for hours, listening to Coach Dabo preach about the system and how they do things differently. They’re a family team and that’s all they care about is the person beside them. That’s what I pay attention to.”

Perlotte said that his mom has been helping him plan recruiting trips and that she really loves Clemson, so he probably has to make it to three more games or so down there.

Right now, Perlotte is patiently waiting for an offer, one that he’s hopeful will come sooner than later.

5-star OL, nation’s top-ranked ’25 prospect high on the Tigers

Clemson recently played host to the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 class regardless of position, per multiple recruiting services.

Providence Day School (Charlotte, N.C.) five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr. attended the Tigers’ 30-20 victory over NC State at Death Valley on Oct. 1.

It wasn’t his first time in Tiger Town, as he visited twice in the spring. However, it was Sanders’ first gameday visit to Clemson, and he detailed his experience in a recent interview with The Clemson Insider.

We’ll publish our full story from the interview with Sanders in the morning, but here’s some of what the 6-foot-7, 250-pound sophomore had to say about the visit:

“The Clemson game, that was definitely a big game for me. I enjoyed myself a lot. The atmosphere with them playing NC State – it was a top-10 matchup – was really cool. That was a really cool experience. I got to experience the new LED lights in the stadium and the new scoreboard. Those two additions to the stadium really made the experience more fun.

“But overall, I had a great time. When I got to the stadium, I was able to meet all the coaches and all the players, too. … Then also they let us go to the top of the hill for the pregame for them to run down the hill. That was definitely the coolest experience ever, just to experience how steep that hill really is, because I always hear it’s steeper than it looks. … So, I enjoyed that a lot, and just the experience overall – the atmosphere, the fans, the facility – it was really cool. So, I enjoyed the whole thing.”

Sanders made the trip to Tiger Town with his parents, and he said “they enjoyed it a lot,” particularly the family atmosphere. For Sanders personally, it was the atmosphere and coaching staff that stood out to him the most.

The Tigers typically don’t offer prospects until the summer before their junior year, so according to Sanders, the coaches told him to stay patient and “trust the process” with them – “just do what you’ve got to do in the classroom and on the field and just keep being who I am,” he said.

Sanders said he has also been to South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and East Carolina recently. He’s looking to check out NC State and Georgia before season’s end but doesn’t have any visits scheduled as of now.

He intends to return to Clemson this offseason, and perhaps even again this season, in order to further his relationship with head coach Dabo Swinney and offensive line coach Thomas Austin.

As for where Clemson stands with Sanders right now, the Tigers have certainly made a strong early impression.

“Clemson’s definitely one of my favorite schools, for sure,” he said.

In-state OL target impressed by ‘amazing’ Death Valley atmosphere

Another big-time offensive line prospect from the Carolinas who took in the clash between Clemson and NC State is Josiah Thompson, a four-star tackle in the 2024 class from Dillon (S.C.) High School.

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound junior traveled to campus with his parents and little brother.

It was the family’s first time attending a game at Death Valley.

“The atmosphere was amazing,” Thompson told The Clemson Insider, “and it’s awesome to see how much the fans have love towards the players and team.”

Thompson visited Georgia for its game vs. Auburn this past Saturday and is set to be in Knoxville for Tennessee’s game against Alabama this Saturday.

We asked Thompson – who received an offer from Clemson back in June – where the Tigers stand with him right now following the visit, and he said, “I can see myself playing for the Clemson Tigers.”

Thompson is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the Palmetto State for the 2024 class by 247Sports, while he is ranked as high as the No. 71 overall prospect in his class by the 247Sports Composite.
