Elite TE Caleb Odom to take official visit to Auburn

The Tigers are fighting to get back in the race for one of the best tight ends in the country.

Auburn’s recruitment of four-star tight end [autotag]Caleb Odom[/autotag] has been an up-and-down affair.

Odom visited in March and despite speaking positively of his trip, he didn’t include the Tigers in his top 12 schools. He then trimmed that list to seven schools on May 12 and the Tigers once again missed the cut.

However, things have taken a turn for the positive after he visited in May. The Carrollton, Georgia product told Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover that Auburn is “re-emerging now.”

Odom has now scheduled an official visit to the Plains on June 12-14, according to Clemente.

Odom is the No. 85 overall player and No. 6 tight end in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 13 player from Georgia.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder is coming off a great season for Carrollton High School, where he caught 64 passes for 1,121 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Tight end coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag] has already landed tight end [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] but the Tigers are expected to try and land two tight ends in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Class of 2024 TE Caleb Odom gives Auburn a second chance at life

After a recent visit to the Plains, the four-star TE says that Auburn is “re-emerging” in the recruiting race.

Last month, Auburn tight end target [autotag]Caleb Odom[/autotag] left the Tigers off his shortlist. Now, it seems that [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] has broken the lock.

Odom, the No. 5 tight end for the class of 2024, recently paid a visit to the Plains. Once the visit concluded, his interest in Auburn appears to resurfacing.

Odom tells Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover that his “dream school” is climbing back up his schools of interest list.

“I feel like (Auburn is) definitely re-emerging now,” Odom said after his visit on Thursday.

Odom mentioned that he grew up an Auburn fan and that his recent visit was refreshing. He visited in March but did not get to see the campus or experience the city in the way that he had hoped.

“I just want to reopen my interest in Auburn because I got to see a lot of the stuff around here and it’s beautiful so far,” Odom said.

Odom is the No. 5 tight end of the 2024 class and is the No. 11 prospect in the state of Georgia. The Carrollton, Georgia product says that Auburn tight end coach Ben Aigamaua remains in contact with Odom and his mother daily and that Auburn still has a chance to lock in an official visit. There is one crystal ball prediction for Odom, and it belongs to Ole Miss.

Top 2024 tight end prospect puts Penn State in Top 7

Penn State remains in the mix for this four-star tight end in the Class of 2024.

There is a major chance that if everything breaks right for Penn State, their 2024 class could be the highest rated of all time. They currently sit at sixth in the nation according to 247Sports’ national recruiting rankings. There is still a long way to go when it comes to the recruiting cycle for this class, but right now, Penn State has clearly established themselves as major players in the recruiting world.

Right now, the focus seems to be on securing a quarterback in this class. There are currently zero quarterbacks signed, although there are rumors that could change soon. Even with their focus on the quarterback position, that won’t stop [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and his staff from going after premiere talent across the country.

Caleb Odom is a four-star tight end from the state of Georgia who cut his list to seven schools. Penn State made the list along with Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Florida, Miami and Colorado.

Odom is a 6’6″ 215 pound prospect who On3’s industry rankings has as a top 100 player nationally. The schools he has visited the most are Tennessee and Ole Miss with three unofficial visits each. Due to this, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Ole Miss as the heavy favorites to land Odom with a 76.7% chance. Penn State is listed fourth with a 2.2% chance.

When speaking with Hayes Fawcett of On3 about Penn State, Odom said, “One of the TEUs in the college football world. I will be visiting this summer and can’t wait to see the place.”

Blue-chip tight end includes Florida among top 7 preferred schools

The Gators made the latest cut for this 4-star TE who projects as a receiving end, but the battle for his official visit will be crucial.

Billy Napier and the Florida football program once again earned a mention in a blue-chip prospect’s top schools list. This time, four-star tight end Caleb Odom out of Carrollton (Georgia) released his list of top seven preferred collegiate destinations with the Gators included, according to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong.

The six other schools are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Ole Miss Rebels, Miami Hurricanes, Colorado Buffaloes and Penn State Nittany Lions.

“Florida and Ole Miss are two that stand out because they want me to play wide receiver,” the 6-foot-5-inch, 215-pound recruit revealed.

While the Orange and Blue made the latest cut for the coveted tight end, it still lags behind as far as official visits are concerned. The Peach State product is expected to visit ‘Bama the first weekend of June, followed by Penn State the following weekend.

Colorado is in line to grab the third weekend while Miami is also queued up for a possible visit the final weekend of the month — presumably leaving just one OV opening for the remaining suitors to fight for ahead of his August announcement.

Odom is ranked No. 85 overall and No. 6 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 71 and 6, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Ole Miss in front for his commitment with a 79.4% chance of landing him, followed by the Tennessee Volunteers (3.2%), Penn State (2.7%) and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1.5%), respectively.
