6 Jets to watch in Week 15 vs. Dolphins

Here are six players to keep an eye on in the Jets’ Week 15 showdown against the Dolphins.

The New York Jets are looking to extend their winning streak to two games in Week 15 when they travel to face the Miami Dolphins for the second time this season. It was an impressive 30-6 victory for the Jets in Week 14 versus the Houston Texans as Zach Wilson returned as the starting quarterback.

For maybe the first time all season, all three phases of the team clicked in the win over the Texans. After heading into halftime with the score being 0-0, the offense found its rhythm, the defense stifled the Texans, and special teams helped flip field position a few times.

The idea of making the playoffs is a pipe dream for the Jets, but the team would love to finish the season strong to build momentum for next season. Here are six players from the Jets to watch in Sunday’s divisional bout against the Dolphins.

C.J. Mosley still believes in Jets, says things will click and ‘will all be worth it’

C.J. Mosley still believes in Jets, says things will click and ‘will all be worth it’

They say good things come to those who wait. Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley may be putting that theory to the test. The Jets lost to the Atlanta Falcons 13-8 in Week 13, dropping their fifth straight game to fall to 4-8 and wasted yet another strong defensive performance from Mosley and company.

After the game, Mosley was asked about the Jets having the same issues this year causing them to lose as they did last year, namely the offense. Mosley said, “It’s out of my control.” Mosley added that he still believes in the Jets organization, things will eventually click for the team and “it will all be worth it.”

Mosley, the Jets’ defensive captain, had five tackles in Week 13. He has a team-leading 120 tackles this season and 450 tackles in four seasons with the Jets and was named Second-Team All-Pro last season and went to his 5th Pro Bowl. Mosley also recently reached 1,000 career tackles.

Mosley said the message this week was “control what you can control” and added the defense and special teams did their part. “The result is what it was.”

Without actually saying it, Mosley was pointing the finger at the offense. Still, Mosley is committed to the Jets and bringing them back to contention. In 2024, Mosley will enter the final year of his five-year contract he signed in 2019. He’ll be 32 years old but is still playing as one of the better linebackers in the NFL. He wants to see things click for the Jets, but time may be running out, making 2024 an important year for both Mosley and the Jets organization.

Jets snap counts: Depth chart breakdown from Week 12 vs. Dolphins

Black Friday turned out to be another dark day for the New York Jets, falling to 4-7 after a 34-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins, including the Fail Mary that turned into a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown for Miami. The Jets have lost four straight but hey, at least some of their young players are getting reps. One of the big stories of the game was New York making wide receiver Allen Lazard a healthy scratch. Lazard signed a four-year, $44 million contract ($22 million guaranteed) in the offseason. He is fourth on the team in receiving.

Lazard’s benching allowed some other young talent to get a chance to gain some experience against the Dolphins. We’ll take a look at the offensive and defensive snap counts from Week 12 and how much the Jets are still going with the youth movement.

5 takeaways from Jets’ dreadful 34-13 loss to Dolphins

Here are 5 takeaways from the Jets’ lopsided 34-13 defeat to the Dolphins in Week 12.

The New York Jets are steadily falling to the wayside in the AFC playoff race following a devastating 34-13 defeat to the Miami Dolphins on Friday. With another loss on the schedule, the Jets have lost four consecutive games and own a 4-7 record.

Even with a quarterback change, it was more of the same from New York’s offense. The entire game was perfectly illustrated with the Jets recording an interception on defense then Tim Boyle immediately throwing a pick-six on a Hail Mary right before halftime.

For yet another embarrassing loss for the Jets, here are our five immediate takeaways from the team’s Week 12 matchup against the Dolphins.

The Jets hit rock bottom in their 32-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 11, a game in which the Zach Wilson era may have finally come to an end after the team sent Tim Boyle onto the field late in the third quarter with the team down 29-6.

Head coach Robert Saleh mentioned a potential youth movement for the team and he at least went ahead with those plans, especially on offense. Players such as Jeremy Ruckert, Jason Brownlee and Israel Abanikanda saw more playing time while tight end C.J. Uzomah essentially became a non-factor.

Here’s the snap count breakdown for offense and defense from Week 11 against the Bills.

C.J. Mosley talks Campbell’s partnership, Aaron Rodgers, top linebackers and more

New York Jets linebacker CJ Mosley is the backbone of the defense. Mosley has been terrific for an elite Jets defense that currently ranks seventh in scoring (19.1 points per contest). Mosley will continue being a difference maker for the potentially playoff-bound Jets.

Mosley recently joined Jets Wire for an exclusive conversation while discussing his partnership with Campbell’s Chunky and the Chunky Sacks Hunger relief program. Mosley discussed Aaron Rodgers’ potential return, Sunday’s defeat over the Las Vegas Raiders, Robert Saleh’s defense, the play of quarterback Zach Wilson, fighting food inequality, and more. It’s full steam ahead for Mosley, who leads the Jets with 96 tackles this season.

The Jets suffered another disappointing primetime loss, this time to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football in Week 10.

The Jets fell to 4-5 with the loss but still only sit one game out of a playoff spot in what has become a tight AFC playoff race.

Here, we’ll take a look at the snap counts for the Jets in Week 10 and get another sense of how the Jets are utilizing some of their players on each side of the football.

Aaron Rodgers, C.J. Mosley, and Justin Hardee voted as Jets’ captains for 2023 season

Aaron Rodgers, C.J. Mosley, and Justin Hardee have all been voted as the Jets’ team captains for the 2023 season.

Aaron Rodgers is entering his first year as the quarterback of the New York Jets and he’ll unsurprisingly have a “C” patch on his jersey this season. Along with Rodgers, C.J. Mosley and Justin Hardee have been voted as the team captains of the Jets in 2023.

No one should be shocked that Rodgers was voted as the captain of the offense despite entering his debut year with the Jets. Expectations are astronomical this season due to the arrival of Rodgers, who continues to receive rave reviews from his coaching staff and new teammates ahead of Week 1.

On the defensive side of the ball, Mosley was named a captain for the third time during his tenure with the Jets. Since signing with New York in 2019, the veteran linebacker has been a captain of the defense every year except for 2020, which was when he opted out because of family health concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lastly, Hardee was voted as the captain of New York’s special teams unit for the third straight year. Hardee has been a core special teamer for the Jets since signing with the organization in 2021 following a four-year stint with the New Orleans Saints to begin his career.

96 days until Vikings season opener: Every player to wear No. 96

With the Vikings regular season opener just 96 days away, let’s take a look at the player’s who have worn No. 96 for the Vikings.

It’s the final countdown…

Well, sort of.

The Minnesota Vikings will kick off their 2023 regular season in 96 days at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 10.

From now until then, we will take a trip down memory lane and count each day by revisiting the players that have worn that specific jersey number.

The number is currently worn by defensive tackle Ross Blacklock, who was disappointing last season. His spot on the roster is likely up for grabs, so this number could change places before the start of the season.

With 96 days until kickoff, here’s a look at every player to wear No. 96 with the Vikings (via Pro Football Reference):

Dawson Knox’s full-flip TD saves us from first scoreless NFL first half since 2019

One spectacular example of encroachment by the Jets, and a miracle catch from the Bills, saved us from the first NFL scoreless first half since 2019.

In their first 12 games of the 2022 season, the Buffalo Bills had punted just 27 times, the NFL’s lowest total. The Bills made up for that in the wrong direction this Sunday against the New York Jets by punting on their first five possessions. The Jets were similarly hospitable, punting on each of their five possessions in the first half.

So, with 26 seconds left in that first half, we were very close to the first first half without a single point since October 20, 2019, when the San Francisco 49ers and Washington accomplished that unfortunate feat.

And then, Josh Allen threw this ball to tight end Dawson Knox, which took us out of that particular scoreless nightmare.

Knox went full helicopter to get into the end zone, and it may just take that kind of effort for either team to score in this game.

The Jets almost got out of this scenario. With 1:17 left in the first half, the Bills had fourth-and-1 from their own 39-yard line. Fortunately for the Bills, Allen was able to get linebacker C.J. Mosley to perform a spectacular example of encroachment.

As we like to say, if you’re going to get penalized for anything, go all out. Mosley certainly did.
