LOOK: Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has his own ‘Kelce Light’ Bud Light cans

Bud Light has declared itself the official beer sponsor of Tight Ends everywhere and that includes #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is enjoying his offseason. He recently appeared on episodes of ABC’s “Holey Moley” and this week the star tight end is one of the organizers of the second annual Tight End University Summit in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bud Light is back at Tight End University for the second year as a sponsor of the event, but this time they declared themselves the “Official Beer Sponsor of Tight Ends.” A press release says they’ve furthered their commitment to the position with the goal of “helping ensure tight ends get the respect they deserve – on and off the field.”

As a result, they’ve given each of Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen some custom tall cans of Bud Light, with “Kelce Light, Kittle Light, and Olsen Light” inscribed on them.

George Kittle is living his best life

It’s good to be George Kittle. Not only is he one of the NFL’s top tight ends who also helps run the extremely popular Tight End University. He now has his own personal product with Bud Light.

Kittle on Thursday took to Instagram and showed off some Bud Light tall cans with his face and the name “Kittle Light” stretched across the front in the Bud Light font. He’s also pictured sitting on a literal throne of the beer that became the official beer of TEU.

A press release says Bud Light is “now furthering its commitment to the position as it becomes the ‘Official Beer Sponsor of Tight Ends,’ helping ensure tight ends get the respect they deserve – on and off the field.”

While that may be true, there’s also a strong chance that when players aren’t on the field or in the classroom honing their craft at TEU, there will also be a metric ton of beer consumed during down time. Still, Bud Light’s commitment to ensuring the players have a good time during their offseason workouts is admirable.

Bud Light offers Chiefs fans free beer for TE Travis Kelce’s Tight End University win

Remember when #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce won #ChiefsKingdom free Bud Light at Tight End University? Here’s more info on how you can redeem it:

Named the winner of a Top Golf challenge related to this summer’s renowned Tight End University summit, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce secured fans around the KC metro free beer.

Fans 21 and older can look forward to redeeming their freebies at various local bars in Waldo, Downtown, and the Crossroads on the Missouri side during this weekend’s tilt with the Tennessee Titans. Alternatively, where laws are different in the Sunflower State, free six-packs of Bud Light will be distributed in Kansas City, Kansas to celebrate Kelce’s feat.

The offer is only valid on Sunday, October 24th, so fans will need to be diligent to get their value from the promotion while it lasts. Kelce shared the news that the bargain was officially being extended on Tuesday morning, posting a link on Twitter that explained the promotion to fans who had just days earlier seen him rack up nearly 100 yards in the Chiefs’ matchup against Washington.

While this marketing campaign is ultimately centered around National Tight End day, Kelce’s run of dominance extends well past any one day, or week, or matchup. On pace for another 1,000-yard and double-digit touchdown season through six games in 2021, Kelce has been an absolute monster for Kansas City so far this season, anchoring an offense that has at times struggled to find its footing.

It is only fitting that Bud Light chose to sponsor a tight end of his caliber, given the Chiefs star’s viral celebratory championship moment of drinking one off of the Lombardi Trophy. They were without a doubt a key partner, even if unofficially, of the festivities at Kansas City’s Super Bowl parade. Beers were tossed like touchdowns between Kelce and Mahomes on top of the team bus mid-route.

Fans are sure to be excited for an offer of this caliber, and will likely muster some extra cheers to Kelce for bringing them the glory that comes with having the best tight end in the league on their favorite team. They’ll need to be extra raucous when the Chiefs take on the Titans this weekend, and free beer seems like a perfect motivator.

Taylor Heinicke moves up two spots in the NFL QB Index

Taylor Heinicke moves up two spots in Gregg Rosenthal’s NFL QB Index. He still has a ways to go.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbykgy681k112p8 player_id=none image=https://washingtonfootballwire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

Washington quarterback Taylor Heinicke has had a pretty good week. Last Thursday, Heinicke completed 34 of 46 passes for 336 yards with two touchdowns in leading Washington to a last-second 30-29 victory over the New York Giants.

On Wednesday, Heinicke landed a significant sponsorship deal with Bud Light.

Next up for Heinicke and Washington is a Week 3 trip to Buffalo to face one of the best teams in the NFL. It’s Heinicke’s first road start as quarterback for Washington.

After such an outstanding performance in prime time last week, Heinicke received plenty of national recognition for his performance. Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com does a weekly quarterback index, and last week, he ranked Heinicke dead last at No. 32.

After his performance in the win over the Giants, Heinicke moves up two spots to No. 30. He is now ranked ahead of the top two picks of the 2021 NFL draft in Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson.

Who cares if every other throw is high if Heinicke’s teammates keep catching them? The owner of the most completions in his first three starts in NFL history plays a high-risk style that proves again aggressiveness is a positive trait in a backup. It’s how Ryan Fitzpatrick got this far.

The first sentence is almost a back-handed compliment to Heinicke. For the record, every other throw wasn’t high. While he did get off to a slow start, Heinicke was money in the fourth quarter of Washington’s Week 2 win.

Washington will undoubtedly take performances like that from Heinicke on a weekly basis.

Taylor Heinicke reveals new sponsorship with Bud Light

Taylor Heinicke is officially on Team Bud Light.

One day after Taylor Heinicke was questioned about a potential sponsorship with Heineken, he finally received the elusive deal with a famous beverage.

It’s not Heineken. Instead, Heinicke revealed he had reached a deal with Bud Light via his Instagram.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CUJDVbpsfdy/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Heinicke revealed a box that said “Bud Lighticke.”

He offered the following comments with the picture:

With a name like Heinicke, there’s only one beer that it makes sense to partner with… 👀🤭 I’m joining @budlight and its #ForTheFans campaign (Sorry Heineken 🤣😂)

Bud Light officially confirmed the partnership.

This is fantastic. Heinicke is taking advantage of the recent success he’s had as Washington’s quarterback. Heinicke has passed for over 300 yards each time in two starts for Washington and almost led the WFT to an upset win over the Buccaneers in the playoffs in January.

Heinicke was outstanding in Week 2, leading Washington to a last-second win over the Giants.

Now, Heinicke must get ready for a stiff test in Week 3 as Washington travels to Buffalo. If he continues performing at his current level, Heineken may regret not closing the deal with Heinicke.

Taylor Heinicke may not get that endorsement from Heineken, but he has options

Taylor Heinicke may not get an endorsement with Heineken. But, Bud Light is receptive to one.

How did Washington quarterback Taylor Heinicke enjoy the weekend after leading his team to a 30-29 win over the New York Giants last Thursday?

“I watched a lot of college football, a lot of NFL football,” Heinicke said to the media on Tuesday, per Ethan Cadeaux of NBC Sports Washington. “Had a couple Heinekens. A lot of resting; it was a nice, relaxing weekend.”

Heinicke, of course, mentioned Heineken because he and many on social media have tried to get him an endorsement from the famous beer since his performance in the January playoff loss to Tampa Bay.

However, Heineken hasn’t been as receptive to pursuing an endorsement with the Washington quarterback of a similar name.

So, Heinicke may be moving on.

“I’m trying, man. I’m trying,” Heinicke said of making a deal with Heineken. “At some point, I might just start calling up Bud Light.”

Well, it didn’t take Bud Light long to respond.

Please make this happen. Sure, while a deal with Heineken makes more sense, Heinicke and Bud Light could be a fun pairing.

Now, all Heinicke has to do is keep playing the way he has in his last two starts for Washington.

Don’t count him out.

Ohio golf course penalized for selling Bud Light during pandemic

The Ohio Liquor Control Commission has penalized a golf course over an infraction dating back to the early stages of the pandemic.

GALION, Ohio — The Ohio Liquor Control Commission has penalized a Crawford County establishment over an infraction dating back to the early stages of the COVID pandemic.

Valley View Golf Course in Galion was one of several businesses statewide named last week in a news release from the office of Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.

The news release alleges that on April 16, an employee of the golf course sold an order of Bud Light beer “separately and without an accompanying food order from the liquor permit premises.”

That sale was in violation of the emergency order DeWine had enacted at the time to help reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus that can cause COVID-19.

According to the news release, “the commission issued a three-day suspension beginning at noon, December 4, 2020, but gave the permit holder the option to pay a financial forfeiture in the amount of $300 in lieu of serving the suspension.”

Representatives from Valley View did not wish to discuss the matter when contacted by the Telegraph-Forum.

The golf course was highlighted in a late-March piece published by the Mansfield News Journal, a sister paper of the Telegraph-Forum, because of its efforts to help provide a safe place for people to exercise outside and escape pandemic-induced anxiety.

Mike Stuckman, the owner of Valley View, said then that he was staying in close contact with the county’s health department so that he could be made aware of the laws that were changing frequently.

Staff at the course had put up a sign on the front door that directed visitors to either call the main line or knock on the side door for assistance. Drinks and snacks were available, but not prepared food. Transactions were completed on the patio, as only employees were allowed into the building.

Guests were allowed to drive separate golf carts if they wanted to keep distance from one another — carts were disinfected after every use. Once on the green, golfers would notice all of the flag pins had been pulled, and the cups were lifted a couple inches out of the ground.

“If you hit that, it counts as making the putt,” Stuckman said in March.

There were also no rakes to grab in sand traps, or ball washers to crank.

“There’s nothing to actually touch,” Stuckman had said. “We’re trying to make it as safe as possible.”

Bud Light offers fantasy players free beer for drafting Gardner Minshew in first-round

If you want free Bud Light, drafting Gardner Minshew II in your fantasy league could be the key to getting it.

Many Jacksonville Jaguars fans already planned on picking up Gardner Minshew in their fantasy drafts, but they now have a good reason to take him in the first-round. On Tuesday, Bud Light and Minshew announced that any fantasy players would be eligible to win free beer that selects Minshew in the opening round of their draft.

Additionally, fantasy owners will have a chance to win free beer for a football season if they can pull off a win in their league’s with Minshew starting.

Sounds like an interesting proposition!

“Free beer, that’s what this country was built on, I’m pretty sure,” Minshew said to USA TODAY Sports. “Fantasy football, and really just engagement with fans this year is so important because with everything going on, I think football can be a great outlet for people. I think it’s going to be a really fun way with all of us to connect.”

Minshew just might be up for a breakout 2020 season after accumulating a 60.6% completion rate for 3,271 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions in 12 starts. While those aren’t eye-popping stats it’s worth noting he wasn’t expected to start last season, but a Week 1 injury to veteran Nick Foles forced him into action in his first regular season game and the rest is history.

The Jags’ front office came into 2020 looking to add around Minshew after moving on from Foles and trading him to the Chicago Bears in March. Afterward, they drafted big target receivers Laviska Shenault Jr., and Collin Johnson in the 2020 NFL Draft and both have been solid in camp so far. They were also able to add veteran Tyler Eifert in free-agency, who hasn’t been the healthiest player but offers great upside if he can remain on the field.

However, Minshew’s favorite target in camp so far has been D.J. Chark, who he built a strong connection with last year and aided to his first Pro Bowl. The two have continued to routinely link up for explosive plays since returning to the practice field this summer, and it’s been such a strong connection that Chark looks like the MVP of Jags training camp so far.

Another key variable to watch when considering Minshew in fantasy leagues is the new offensive coordinator the Jags brought in, Jay Gruden. He has a track record for getting the best out of young quarterbacks like Andy Dalton and Kirk Cousins, both of whom were solid players in the early stages of their careers. That said, if Gruden can have the same early career impact on Minshew as he did for the two aforementioned names, those who select him in Round 1 could end up with Bud Light’s unique prize.

To enter, fantasy owners simply have to screenshot Minshew as their first-round pick and use the hashtag #BudLightMinshewDraft and #Sweepstakes on social media with the post.
