Five things to know about Week 8’s Bucs vs. Bills matchup

The Bucs haven’t played the Bills all that often, but there’s still some interesting history between the two teams.

There isn’t a lot of history between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Buffalo Bills, but it certainly is an interesting history nonetheless.

Tampa Bay is set to play its first AFC opponent of the year when it takes on the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football in primetime. Naturally, since the Bills are from a different conference, the Bucs don’t play them all that much, but Tampa Bay won the most recent matchup when it defeated Buffalo at home 33-27 in overtime in 2021.

Although the two don’t often meet, there are still some things that tie the two together. Here are five things to know about Tampa Bay’s Week 8 matchup against Buffalo:

Bucs announce uniform combo for Thursday Night Football vs. Bills

The Bucs are going with a combo they’ve won in once before this season for Thursday night’s game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing out a recent classic against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football.

The team announced on Tuesday that it’s set to wear its white uniform over pewter pants in Orchard Park, New York, against the Bills. The combo is somewhat hallowed in Tampa Bay as of recent, as this combo is the uniform the Bucs wore for the backstretch of their 2020 Super Bowl run on the road.

The Bucs have worn this uniform just once this year, and it was for the first game of the season. Tampa Bay defeated the Minnesota Vikings on the road with this color combo, so perhaps the Bucs are trying some winning superstitions when they go on the road for a tough game against the Bills.

Bucs Monday Week 7 Injury Report: Baker Mayfield, Chris Godwin and Vita Vea named

While some notable players are listed as not participating, it’s important to note this injury report is an just an estimation — teams do not practice the day after games.

The Monday injury report for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is out, and while it features some interesting names, it’s important to keep things in perspective for a Thursday Night Football week.

No NFL team will practice the day after the game, so this injury report is simply an estimation of how the team would have treated players in theory if a practice did go on. As such, if players are listed as “did not participate”, it’s just an estimation on the team’s part — if this were a real practice, things might have turned out differently.

On the Bucs side, five players did not participate — quarterback Baker Mayfield (knee), offensive guard Matt Feiler (knee), wideout Chris Godwin (neck), safety Kaevon Merriweather (ankle) and defensive tackle Vita Vea (groin). Running back Chase Edmonds was listed as a full participant coming off of injured reserve.

There are quite a few players on the Buffalo Bills report, but most were either listed as participants or limited participants. The Bucs won’t have to face off against tight end Dawson Knox, as he’s set to have surgery on his wrist and miss some time.
