BREAKING: CB Jamel Dean ruled out for rest of Bucs at Texans

Dean was injured while covering Texans wideout Nico Collins earlier in the game.

Bucs cornerback Jamel Dean will not return to Tampa Bay’s game against the Houston Texans.

Dean was injured while covering Texans wideout Nico Collins on a play earlier in the game, which resulted in Collins scoring a touchdown. Dean was evaluated for a concussion and headed to the locker room, and he’s now been officially ruled out.

Dean’s place will likely be taken by CB Zyon McCollum.

Final Week 9 Injury Report: Two Bucs players ruled out

The Bucs are mostly healthy, but the Texans will be missing one of their key playmakers.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be in good shape when they face off against the Houston Texans in Week 9.

Both guard [autotag]Matt Feiler[/autotag] and defensive tackle [autotag]Logan Hall[/autotag] will be out for Sunday’s game, and three other players — cornerback Christian Izien (illness), safety Kaevon Merriweather (ankle) and nose tackle Vita Vea (groin) are questionable, but only Izien didn’t participate on Friday. As it stands, the Bucs are mostly healthy.

Here is what the Week 9 injury report for both teams looks like:

On the Texans side, wideout Robert Woods (foot) and tight end Brevin Jordan (foot) are both out, and a third player who won’t make Sunday’s game is one of Houston’s biggest. Running back Dameon Pierce is dealing with an ankle injury, and he won’t play — a huge boon for the Bucs. Houston’s offense will have to make do with a subdued rushing attack when the game comes around.

Bucs Week 9 Wednesday Injury Report: Matt Feiler, Logan Hall non-participants

The Bucs are mostly healthy as they get into their Week 9 practice slate.

Guard Matt Feiler was at practice in a knee brace and did not participate in practice. Defensive tackle Logan Hall was also not a participant, but he was working with trainers at the side during the practice slot allotted to media. Everyone else participated at least a little bit, with tight end Ko Kieft, safety Kaevon Merriweather and tackle Tristan Wirfs set as limited participants.

Here is what the Week 9 injury report looks like:

On Houston’s side, numerous players are on the injury list. Five players did not participate, including wideout Robert Woods, guard Laremy Tunsil, running back Dameon Pierce, tight end Brevin Jordan and corner Ka’Dar Hollman not participating on Wednesday.

Baker Mayfield dealing with knee contusion, expected to play through it

10 days of rest should do well for Tampa Bay’s quarterback to heal up in time for the Houston Texans.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback [autotag]Baker Mayfield[/autotag] is dealing with a minor injury, but it shouldn’t sideline him for the long term.

ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday that Mayfield is dealing with a contusion in his left knee — in layman’s terms, a painful bruise. As such, it will be a pain management thing going forward, and as Fowler pointed out, 10 days of rest after playing on Thursday Night Football should help it to heal before the team takes on the Houston Texans in Week 9.

Mayfield was also recently recovering from a minor hand injury of a similar notion, but he hasn’t suffered a serious injury so far this year. The Bucs will hope that he’s at full strength for Week 9, as wins have gotten sparse in Tampa Bay and the Bucs will need to get back on track if they want to compete for the NFC South.

Bucs RB Chase Edmonds activated off Injured Reserve

Help is on the way for Tampa Bay’s running game as a veteran returns to the backfield.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have some fresh legs in the backfield for their Thursday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills.

The team announced on Wednesday that running back Chase Edmonds has officially been activated off Injured Reserve back to the active roster. Cornerback Derrek Pitts was waived by the team in order to make room for him. Edmonds was required to sit out at least four games on IR, but got an extra week of rest due to the team’s bye week coming in the middle of that period — as a result, he may be more rested than most coming off IR.

Edmonds only has four carries this year, but he currently leads the team in yards per carry with 5.0. He’s a veteran back who has produced in the past, so he has an opportunity to take the No. 2 running back role behind RB Rachaad White. It’s unknown how much he’ll be used against the Bills, but the team certainly needs a spark in the run game.

Bucs Monday Week 7 Injury Report: Baker Mayfield, Chris Godwin and Vita Vea named

While some notable players are listed as not participating, it’s important to note this injury report is an just an estimation — teams do not practice the day after games.

The Monday injury report for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is out, and while it features some interesting names, it’s important to keep things in perspective for a Thursday Night Football week.

No NFL team will practice the day after the game, so this injury report is simply an estimation of how the team would have treated players in theory if a practice did go on. As such, if players are listed as “did not participate”, it’s just an estimation on the team’s part — if this were a real practice, things might have turned out differently.

On the Bucs side, five players did not participate — quarterback Baker Mayfield (knee), offensive guard Matt Feiler (knee), wideout Chris Godwin (neck), safety Kaevon Merriweather (ankle) and defensive tackle Vita Vea (groin). Running back Chase Edmonds was listed as a full participant coming off of injured reserve.

There are quite a few players on the Buffalo Bills report, but most were either listed as participants or limited participants. The Bucs won’t have to face off against tight end Dawson Knox, as he’s set to have surgery on his wrist and miss some time.

Bucs RB Chase Edmonds designated to return from IR

The Bucs could be getting back some help for their running game sooner than later.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be getting some help for their running game.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that the Bucs are designating running back [autotag]Chase Edmonds[/autotag] to return to the active roster from injured reserve. Players have a 21-day window to be activated back to the active roster, and if they are unable to return by that time, the player cannot come back to the team for the season.

That shouldn’t be a problem for Edmonds, though, and he could be ready as early as the team’s game against the Buffalo Bills Thursday night. IR demands that a player misses four games, but not four weeks — as such, Edmonds was able to do part of his recovery during the bye week, so it’s possible he could be healthier than most coming off IR. It is a short week, however, so if the team didn’t want to risk it, he could return for the team’s next game against the Houston Texans in Week 9.

Bucs Week 7 Final Injury Report: Two Tampa Bay players listed as questionable

No player between the Bucs and the Falcons are ruled out for Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers remain healthy heading into Week 7’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, and the injuries they do have don’t appear to be too serious.

The biggest question after Thursday’s report was the absence of defensive tackle [autotag]Vita Vea[/autotag], who seemed to take a setback after having limited practice on Wednesday. He was back to limited practice on Friday, however, and head coach Todd Bowles seemed to imply after practice Friday that his foot is simply sore and that giving it 48 hours likely has him playing on Sunday. The other questionable player is outside linebacker [autotag]Anthony Nelson[/autotag], who has had two weeks of full practice but now needs to clear concussion protocol to play.

Here is what the small injury report looks like:

After Falcons DT Calais Campbell took a rest day on Monday, no player has been on Atlanta’s injury report.

OLB Anthony Nelson downgraded to Doubtful before Lions game

A Saturday change to the injury report has one Bucs player unlikely to play Sunday.

There’s been a last-minute change to Tampa Bay’s injury report on Saturday.

Outside linebacker [autotag]Anthony Nelson[/autotag], who is recovering from a concussion, was initially slated to play on Sunday after participating fully in practice all week. On Saturday, however, the team announced that Nelson has been downgraded to Doubtful status, making it unlikely that he will suit up against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

With outside linebacker Shaquill Barrett possibly limited by illness, it could be a big game for Bucs draft pick Yaya Diaby, who has served as a rotational edge rusher during the year. While he previously had to share that duty with Nelson, he might get the most snaps he’s gotten all year against Detroit.

Final Week 6 Injury Report: Bucs almost entirely healthy ahead of Lions game

The Lions, meanwhile, have seven players ruled out for Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will ride into Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions at home as healthy as they have ever been.

After head coach Todd Bowles confirmed that wide receiver Mike Evans would be “full go” for Sunday, only one player on the team is even questionable — OLB Shaquil Barrett, who has no bodily injury and has simply been sick for two days. Every other Bucs player on the list, including defensive tackle Calijah Kancey, is set to play on Sunday.

Here’s what the injury report for both teams looks like:

The Detroit Lions, meanwhile, aren’t nearly as fortunate. Seven players are listed out on the list, including running back Jahmyr Gibbs and defensive back Brian Branch, and one of Detroit’s biggest weapons in tight end Sam LaPorta is questionable to play with a calf strain.
