The Ohio State Buckeyes’ Fiesta Bowl uniforms are out, and there’s no denying that this team will be looking sharp on December 28.

The Buckeyes, coming off a Big Ten Championship victory over the Wisconsin Badgers, will line up against the undefeated Clemson Tigers, a team that many favor over the undefeated Buckeyes.

They’ll be playing in the Fiesta Bowl after dropping from the top overall seed in the final College Football Playoffs rankings. Shortly after, we were told that the Buckeyes would be wearing a throwback alternate we’re all familiar with.

That said, here’s a glance at what fans will be seeing in just over a week.

The look is clean and clearly shows the Buckeyes scarlet and grey. It’s a beautiful design and one that many tradition fans should fall in love with.

When two Big Ten schools meet on the court so far this basketball season, the odds are against the visiting team.  Ohio State was 9-0 heading into its match against the then 4-5 Minnesota Gophers. Poised to take the No. 1 spot had they remained unbeaten; the Buckeyes could not overcome the Gophers who held Ohio State to a season-low 38.3% shooting and the team dropped to No. 4 as a result in the latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll.

Kansas took over the No. 1 spot, followed by Gonzaga (2), and Duke (3) ahead of the Buckeyes. Louisville (5), Kentucky (6), Virgina (7), Maryland (8), Auburn (9), and Oregon (10) round out the top ten. Auburn (9-0) is the only remaining unbeaten school in the top 10 while San Diego State (10-0) are the only other team in the top 25.

The Big Ten has a total of five teams in the USA TODAY Coaches poll with Michigan at No. 15,  Michigan State at No. 18, and Penn State making its first appearance at No. 24.

The Ohio State Buckeyes return to action at home against Southeast Missouri State on Tuesday before traveling to Las Vegas to square off against another top-ranked opponent in the University of Kentucky.

Ohio State 2019 Rose Bowl Defensive MVP Brendon White to enter NCAA Transfer Portal?

Ohio State 2019 Rose Bowl Defensive MVP to enter NCAA Transfer Portal?

What a difference one year can make. Ohio State Football safety Brendon White was helping to improve the OSU defense just one year ago, but he has entered his name in the NCAA transfer pool per multiple sources.

He finished the 2018 football season as a break-out defensive player with 45 tackles including four tackles for loss, and one interception. His performance against Washington in the Rose Bowl resulted in Defensive MVP honors with his seven tackles, including two for loss and one pass breakup.

White was a junior coming into the current football season for Ohio State and was expected to continue to have a major impact at the new “Bullet” position — a hybrid safety/linebacker position. His time on the field was limited to start the season and non-existent the final few games with the Buckeyes employing mostly just one high safety in a new scheme.

He recorded 19 tackles this season including two tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup through the first 10 games, but did not play against Penn State, The Team Up North, or against Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship. When asked about his absence for the B1G Ten Championship, head coach Ryan Day stated: “He wasn’t available for personal reasons” and it is to be determined if he will travel with the team to the Fiesta Bowl.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are set to compete against the Clemson Tigers in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday, December 28th at 8:00 PM EST. The winner will earn a spot in the National Championship game.

But first, we’re getting some of the end of the regular season drama and nuggets that seem to work their way out into the light this time of year. There’s no word on where White is looking to transfer to, but as that materializes, we’ll let you know.

Can Ryan Day carry over the success with Ohio State in an underdog role?

Ohio State has been favored in every single matchup this year, but that’s not the case in the Fiesta Bowl. How will Ryan Day handle it?

With the regular season and another Big Ten Trophy in the trophy case at The Woody, Ohio State now turns its eyes towards preparing for the matchup in the desert against the reigning champs Clemson Tigers.

With the recent history against Clemson, it’s an intriguing matchup. Ohio State is 0-3 against the Tigers, and fans would love to get a sour taste out of their mouth after the 31-0 dominating game Clemson pitched against Ohio State in 2016. Could it be that this year will change the narrative against Clemson?

For the first time this year, Ohio State is an underdog in the Fiesta Bowl despite being the higher seed. In just a short week, it went from being the College Football Playoff’s No. 1 team, to now nearly everyone picking the Tigers to beat the Buckeyes and move on to the national title game. While it may be disappointing to many, it could also be just the extra motivation that the team needs to elbow its own way to a national title.

But let’s be clear here. While there are several players that were part of that 2016 team this one is very, very different. Whether it be coaches, players, or schemes, Ohio State is far different than when it got trounced in the desert last time out.

Some might remember that Urban Meyer was incredible as an underdog with a crazy and somewhat unbelievable 7-0 record.  Could Day be just as great with Urban in that category? Day has this calm presence and has faced adversity this year.

While the conference championship game was too close in the first half for comfort, it tested Day and his staff’s resolve, resiliency, and game-management on the biggest stage yet in his young coaching career. When it’s all said and done, all eyes will be eagerly awaiting the matchup in the desert in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl to see how he does.

Maybe he’ll show he can go from underdog to top dog?
