Myles Garrett dresses as the Grim Reaper entering stadium for game versus Steelers

Against a limited Steelers offensive line, Garrett could “reap” the benefits and live up to his pregame costume in Week 8:

The Cleveland Browns have a very important game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The importance of the game is juxtaposed with the fun and excitement of it being held on Halloween. A day full of candy, costumes and fun adds a bit of intensity as the AFC North rival Browns and Steelers face off.

The story of the game may be Pittsburgh’s limited offensive line against Cleveland’s pass rush trio (assuming all of them are healthy enough to play in the game) who have excelled at getting after the passer this season.

Myles Garrett leads the charge for the defense. Known for his varied interests, Garrett showed his love for Halloween before Week 8’s matchup showing up to the stadium dressed as the Grim Reaper:

From the picture, it looks as if the Browns pass rusher has the names of all of the quarterbacks he has sacked on the cape that he is wearing. This video from the official NFL social media account confirms that:

If Cleveland is able to dominate Pittsburgh today, Garrett will have to be the reaper of souls for the defense. With the Steelers offensive line struggles and Garrett’s league-leading sack total so far this season, it is likely that he will be able to live up to his pregame costume in Week 8.

Browns Vs Steelers: Early morning OBJ, Clowney, Ingram injury updates

Early morning updates on two key Browns players and one Steelers defender in preparation for a huge Week 8 matchup:

The Cleveland Browns take on the Pittsburgh Steelers today in a Halloween matchup that will decide the last-place team in the AFC North through eight games. The visiting Steelers are coming off a bye week while the Browns had extra days off following their Thursday Night Football victory.

Both teams had time to get healthy but will still have some injury concerns going into the game.

Cleveland has already ruled out Denzel Ward, Donovan Peoples-Jones and Richard LeCounte III and listed six players as questionable:

  • WR Odell Beckham Jr. – Shoulder
  • DE Jadeveon Clowney – Ankle, groin, knee
  • CB AJ Green – Groin
  • DT Malik Jackson – Ankle
  • DE Tack McKinley – Groin
  • FB Johnny Stanton – Calf

Pittsburgh listed Eric Ebron out for the game Friday and had pass rusher Melvin Ingram III listed as doubtful.

As of early Sunday morning, we have a couple of updates.

As expected, Ingram is out:

Beckham is in and Clowney is a true game-time decision:

While Beckham and Clowney are the two biggest names that are questionable for the Browns, Green, Jackson, McKinley and Stanton will be important to watch as well. We will keep you up to date as we know more on these important injuries for this important game.

Browns Vs Steelers: First injury report of Week 8

The first injury report of Week 8 is out and the Browns list is quite long, again, with six players not practicing and even more than that limited Wednesday while the Steelers had just three limited players:

The Cleveland Browns face off with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8 of the NFL season. Neither team has a losing record but the loser this week will fall to the basement of the AFC North.

For the Browns, injuries continue to be the story. Baker Mayfield is fighting to play this week. Jack Conklin and Nick Chubb are likely to be back.

The Steelers have had some injury concerns of their own this season and have a few important pieces that we will monitor as the week goes on.

The first injury report of Week 8 continues to be quite long for the Browns.

  • DE Jadeveon Clowney – Ankle, groin, knee
  • DT Malik Jackson – Ankle
  • S Richard LeCounte III – Discipline related not injury
  • WR Jarvis Landry – Knee
  • WR Donovan Peoples-Jones – Groin
  • CB Denzel Ward – Hamstring

Limited Participation Wednesday

  • WR Odell Beckham Jr. – Shoulder
  • RB Nick Chubb – Calf
  • OT Jack Conklin – Knee

  • CB AJ Green – Groin
  • OL Blake Hance – Elbow
  • QB Baker Mayfield – SHoulder

For the visiting Steelers, the list is much shorter. Every player participated in practice but there were limited:

  • WR Chase Claypool – Hamstring
  • LB Melvin Ingram III – Groin
  • QB Ben Roethlisberger – Pectoral, hip

Zach Banner (knee) and Anthony McFarland (knee) were listed but as full participants.

We will closely monitor the injury list this week as Mayfield, Chubb, Conklin, Ward and other starters all could be vital to the outcome of the first Cleveland versus Pittsburgh matchup since the Browns beat the Steelers in the playoffs in 2020.

Browns Vs Steelers: Quick look at how Pittsburgh has won, lost this year

Taking a quick look at the Steelers season so far. How did they win three games? How did they lose three games? What can the Browns learn?

The Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers matchup on Halloween in a game that finally takes on meaning after the 2020 season. For decades, the Steelers have controlled the rivalry between the two teams with many (annoyingly accurate) stats to back that up including Ben Roethlisberger’s record in the Browns stadium versus the home team’s record there.

The 2020 season saw a turnaround for Cleveland which included a late-season, playoff-clinching victory over Pittsburgh and then a wild card round playoff victory over Pittsburgh as well.

The rivalry has been renewed.

Now the two teams meet in Cleveland for what should be a raucous crowd at First Energy Stadium. The Browns come in with a lot of injuries but at 4 – 3, sit only a game behind the top record in both the division and conference. The Steelers visit the shores of Lake Erie with a .500 record, 3 – 3, coming off their early-season bye week.

Starting Steelers week, we take a quick look at how the visitors have won and loss each of those three games this year to see what we can learn about them:

The 6 most important games on the Browns 2021 schedule

Here are six games that stood out upon the official Browns schedule release.

The Cleveland Browns are coming off a fantastic 11-5 season in 2020, one which culminated in the franchise’s first playoff victory in the 21st century. There is considerable promise surrounding coach Kevin Stefanski’s young Browns in 2021.

If the Browns are to surpass last year’s tremendous steps in the winning direction, there are a few telling games on the 2021 schedule. How the Browns fare these key matchups or difficult challenges will tell a lot about if the 2021 regular season will be considered a success or not.

Here are the six games that stood out upon the official schedule release.

Ben Roethlisberger will be back as the Steelers starter in 2021

He’s the best the Steelers have, but for how much longer?

All signs are pointing to Ben Roethlisberger returning as the starting quarterback of the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021. Based on how “Big Ben” and the Steelers finished in 2020, that could be good news for the Cleveland Browns.

Roethlisberger had been pondering his future, but he appears ready to roll once again. The Steelers did pick up 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins this offseason after Haskins quickly flushed out of Washington, but he’ll stick behind Roethlisberger on the Pittsburgh depth chart in 2021.

This report from the NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala, who spoke with Roethlisberger’s agent, makes it pretty darn clear the 39-year-old (on March 2nd) will be back in the Pittsburgh saddle for a 17th season,

Roethlisberger played well in the early part of 2020 but tailed off considerably as the season bore on. He threw for over 500 yards in the Steelers’ wild-card loss to the Browns but also threw four interceptions and didn’t even try to recover the snap over his head on the opening play of the game.

Browns take

Roethlisberger is the most likely Steelers quarterback to lead the team to any sort of relevance in 2021, but with two offensive linemen retiring and his physical condition continuing to deteriorate, the end is coming soon. Perhaps very soon. The Browns shouldn’t worry about who is behind them, it’s who is ahead of them that matters.

UGA great Nick Chubb helps Cleveland Browns to first playoff win since 1995

UGA great Nick Chubb helped the Cleveland Browns to their first playoff win since 1995 in a win over the Steelers on Sunday night.

The Cleveland Browns secured their first playoff win since 1995 in a 48-37 win versus the Steelers in Pittsburg in a wild-card matchup on Sunday night.

One reason for the Browns historical performance was a big night from former Georgia running back Nick Chubb.

Georgia football’s second all-time leading rusher carried the ball 18 times for 76 yards and caught 4 passes for 69 yards and this game-sealing touchdown.

A historical week for the Browns who, after making the Playoffs for the first time in 20 years just a week ago, were forced to face the Steelers without head coach Kevin Stefanski, tight ends coach Drew Petzing, defensive backs coach Jeff Howard, offensive guard Joel Bitonio, wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge and cornerbacks Denzel Ward and Kevin Johnson due to positive COVID-19 testing.

However, the Browns COVID-19 scares did not translate over to gameplay and especially not to Chubb and his ability.

Chubb still ran for over 1,000 yards during the regular season while missing four and a half games due to a knee injury and with his performance on Sunday night, the Cedartown, Ga., native has entered his name into the Browns history books.

I wonder if the 27 NFL teams that passed on Chubb in the 2018 NFL Draft ever wish they had done things differently.

I sat down with 2021 UGA signee Kamari Lassiter in the latest episode of UGA Football Live with J.C. Shelton! We talk about his recruitment and future as a Dawg. Listen here:

Browns put on a first quarter for the playoff ages

Cleveland set all sorts of franchise and NFL history in the first quarter romp in Pittsburgh

Yes Cleveland, that really happened!

The first quarter of the first Browns postseason game in almost 20 years ended with a truly unbelievable score.

Cleveland 28, Pittsburgh 0

All the adversity, all the nervous energy, all the years of being on the wrong end of the rivalry hose, it all went up in a glorious puff of cathartic smoke. The Browns could do no wrong, the Steelers could do no right in the first 15 minutes. From the opening snap–a Browns touchdown by Karl Joseph–to the end of the quarter, it was the most satisfying display of football from a Cleveland team in decades.

The Browns were the first team since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 to score 28 points in the first quarter of a postseason game.

They were also the first Browns team to have a turnover differential of plus-3 in the first quarter of a playoff game.
