Twitter reacts to prime-time debut of Broncos’ new uniforms

The Broncos’ new uniform made its prime-time debut against the Saints on ‘TNF’ in Week 7. Here’s how Twitter/X reacted to the new look.

Earlier this year, the Denver Broncos unveiled a brand-new uniform set that includes orange (home), white (away), blue (alternate) and orange (throwback) jerseys.

The team’s primary orange and white jerseys can be mixed and matched with white, orange or blue pants (orange jerseys with blue pants is not a popular look).

The Broncos will wear their alternate blue jersey with a white helmet on Monday Night Football against the Cleveland Browns in Week 13. Last week, Denver debuted its 1977-inspired throwback uniform, which is by far the team’s most popular uniform.

Tonight, the Broncos’ new primary white jersey makes its prime-time debut against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football. Here’s a sampling of how fans and pundits have reacted to Denver’s new uniform on Twitter/X.

NFL teams have to wait five years in between primary uniform changes. So the earliest the Broncos could change their look would be 2029.

The Denver Broncos will wear white jerseys and white pants against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football in Week 7, the team announced Thursday afternoon.

The Saints will be wearing their “Black and Gold” throwbacks.

This marks the fourth time the Broncos have worn a white jersey this season. Denver previously announced the team’s jersey color for all 17 games earlier this year, but players pick the color of their pants each week.

The Broncos’ home games this fall will feature jersey colors white (once), blue (once), throwback (twice) and orange (four times). On the road, Denver had one orange jersey game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3. Besides that Bucs contest, the Broncos’ eight other road games will all feature white jerseys.

After making its debut in Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders, Denver’s popular 1977-inspired throwback uniform will return when the Broncos host the Kansas City Chiefs in their season finale in Week 18.

A common sentiment is that it would look better with orange socks.

Denver has already announced its full jersey schedule for all 17 games this season, but the players pick the pants color each week. After hosting the Chargers on Sunday, the Broncos are scheduled to wear white jerseys on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football in Week 7. They’ll announce their pants color closer to the game.

Broncos announce uniform combo for Week 6 game vs. Chargers

Sigh, back to the standard uniforms. The Broncos will wear orange jerseys and blue pants against the Chargers today.

Sigh, back to the boring uniform.

After breaking out their beautiful throwback uniform against the Las Vegas Raiders last week, the Denver Broncos will return to wearing their primary orange jerseys with blue pants against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6.

This marks the second time the Broncos have worn their primary orange jersey this season and the first time they’ve worn it at home.

Besides that contest, the Broncos’ other road games will all feature white jerseys.

Denver will break out its 1977-inspired throwback uniform again when the Broncos host the Kansas City Chiefs in their season finale in Week 18.

Everyone loves the Broncos’ beautiful throwback uniform

“Please don’t go back!” Everyone seems to agree that the Broncos should make their throwback look their primary uniform.

The Denver Broncos broke out their beautiful throwback uniform against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday and everyone loved it.

Broncos fans have called for the team to make the throwback look the team’s primary uniform, and several players have echoed that sentiment.

“I think it’s the coolest uniform we have, so I’m hoping we can wear it more often,” wide receiver Devaughn Vele said last week. “I like those colors.”

Pat Surtain, the team’s star cornerback, said he wishes the team could wear the throwback uniform more often. Denver tight end Adam Trautman has said it would be nice if it becomes the primary uniform in the future.

Broncos fans and pundits are not alone. National pundits and even fans from other teams have made it clear that the 1977-inspired throwback uniform is Denver’s best look.

Unfortunately, the Broncos did not seriously consider a full-time switch to the throwback design when they made their new uniforms that were unveiled earlier this year. After making changes in 2024, Denver can’t make further changes to the primary uniform until 2029 at the earliest.

In the meantime, the Broncos can wear throwback or alternate uniforms up to three teams per season. Denver will wear the throwback uniform one more time this season in Week 18 against the Kansas City Chiefs in January.

Everyone seems to agree — the Broncos’ throwback uniform is by far the team’s best look.

They are simply beautiful.

The Denver Broncos are wearing their 1977-inspired throwback uniforms for the first time on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. It is by far the team’s most popular look, with many fans calling for the Broncos to make it their primary uniform.

Denver’s players seem to agree with that sentiment, including star cornerback Pat Surtain.

“It sucks that we can only wear them twice this year,” Surtain said last week. “I wish we could wear it more times.”

Surtain is not alone.

“I think it’s the coolest uniform we have, so I’m hoping we can wear it more often,” wide receiver Devaughn Vele said. “I like those colors.”

Added tight end Adam Trautman: “Maybe it’ll become the primary at some point. Who knows? That’d be nice.”

Here’s a sampling of how fans and pundits reacted to the uniform on Twitter/X.

The Broncos unveiled a completely new uniform set earlier this year. Unfortunately, team president Damani Leech said making the throwback look the team’s primary uniform was not seriously considered.

If fans, players and pundits continue to push for Denver to adopt the throwback uniform as their primary look, perhaps the Broncos will consider making the switch down the road. After making changes this year, Denver would have to wait until 2029 before making any more changes to the primary uniform.

Broncos will wear throwback uniforms vs. Raiders this week

The Broncos will wear their 1977-inspired throwback uniforms against the Raiders this week.

The Denver Broncos are breaking out a fan favorite for their showdown with the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5.

The Broncos will wear their new 1977-inspired throwback uniform against their division rivals, a fitting choice for an iconic AFC West matchup.

Denver will also honor linebacker Randy Gradishar for his Pro Football Hall of Fame nod, and the team will officially induct safety Steve Foley and tight end Riley Odoms into their Ring of Fame on Sunday.

Additionally, Denver will invite all members of the 1977 team that reached Super Bowl XII to attend the game as part of Alumni Weekend.

The Broncos and Raiders are founding members of the AFL who have competed against each other in the AFC West since 1960.

Sunday will mark the first of two appearances for the team’s throwback look this season. Denver will also wear the uniform in its season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 18.

Why the Broncos are wearing orange jerseys on the road vs. Bucs

Playing in Florida’s heat, the Bucs have opted to wear white jerseys in Week 3, which forces the Broncos to wear their orange jerseys.

The Denver Broncos will wear orange jerseys and white pants when they go on the road to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season, the team announced Sunday morning.

The Broncos are wearing orange on the road because the Bucs have opted to wear their white jerseys for the Sept. 22 showdown, forcing Denver to wear its “home” jersey in the Florida heat (the Broncos tried a similar strategy against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week without much success).

This will mark the debut of Denver’s new orange jersey.

The Broncos previously announced their jersey color for all 17 games this season, but players pick the color of their pants each week.
