Everyone seems to agree — the Broncos’ throwback uniform is by far the team’s best look.

They are simply beautiful.

The Denver Broncos are wearing their 1977-inspired throwback uniforms for the first time on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. It is by far the team’s most popular look, with many fans calling for the Broncos to make it their primary uniform.

Denver’s players seem to agree with that sentiment, including star cornerback Pat Surtain.

“It sucks that we can only wear them twice this year,” Surtain said last week. “I wish we could wear it more times.”

Surtain is not alone.

“I think it’s the coolest uniform we have, so I’m hoping we can wear it more often,” wide receiver Devaughn Vele said. “I like those colors.”

Added tight end Adam Trautman: “Maybe it’ll become the primary at some point. Who knows? That’d be nice.”

The Broncos unveiled a completely new uniform set earlier this year. Unfortunately, team president Damani Leech said making the throwback look the team’s primary uniform was not seriously considered.

If fans, players and pundits continue to push for Denver to adopt the throwback uniform as their primary look, perhaps the Broncos will consider making the switch down the road. After making changes this year, Denver would have to wait until 2029 before making any more changes to the primary uniform.

Broncos will wear throwback uniforms vs. Raiders this week

The Broncos will wear their 1977-inspired throwback uniforms against the Raiders this week.

The Denver Broncos are breaking out a fan favorite for their showdown with the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5.

The Broncos will wear their new 1977-inspired throwback uniform against their division rivals, a fitting choice for an iconic AFC West matchup.

Denver will also honor linebacker Randy Gradishar for his Pro Football Hall of Fame nod, and the team will officially induct safety Steve Foley and tight end Riley Odoms into their Ring of Fame on Sunday.

Additionally, Denver will invite all members of the 1977 team that reached Super Bowl XII to attend the game as part of Alumni Weekend.

The Broncos and Raiders are founding members of the AFL who have competed against each other in the AFC West since 1960.

Sunday will mark the first of two appearances for the team’s throwback look this season. Denver will also wear the uniform in its season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 18.

The Broncos will wear white jerseys and white pants against the Jets today.

The Denver Broncos will wear white jerseys and white pants on the road against the New York Jets in Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season, the team announced Sunday morning.

The Broncos’ new uniforms have been well-received by fans, pundits and former players, including Deion Sanders and Shannon Sharpe.

The Denver Broncos unveiled a new uniform set this spring and they broke out white jerseys with white pants in their preseason opener last week.

Damani Leech on Broncos’ new uniforms: ‘I think theyā€™re beautiful’

“Itā€™s not quite as much as your baby being born, but it was little bit like that,” Damani Leech joked about the Broncos’ new uniform.

The Denver Broncos unveiled a new uniform set this spring to mixed reviews. The team’s throwback uniform is universally loved, but there was a lot of negative feedback online for Denver’s new primary uniform.

Four months later, fans seem to have warmed up to the new look. Seeing the uniform worn by players in a game probably helped.

ā€œIt was really fun to see them on the field this weekend,” Broncos team president Damani Leech said Tuesday. “Itā€™s not quite as much as your baby being born, but it was little bit like that seeing them out there running around. It was really fun. I rewatched the broadcast after the game to see it. I think theyā€™re beautiful.

“It was really fun to see. Itā€™ll be fun to see how it gets switched up. The players are driving which pants they wear each game. So weā€™ll take their cues on that, but I think itā€™ll be great to see. For the Raiders game weā€™ll wear the throwbacks and thatā€™ll be really special, too.ā€

Denver has announced which jerseys will be worn for each game this season, but as Leech noted, the players will pick the colors of the pants for each game. This week, the Broncos will wear white jerseys with orange pants at home against the Green Bay Packers (stream the game free). After that, Denver will close out preseason against the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 25.
