Damani Leech comments on Broncos’ new uniforms

New Broncos uniforms integrate elements of the “past, present and future while paying tribute to Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region.”

The Denver Broncos unveiled new uniforms on Monday that they have dubbed the “Mile High Collection.”

In addition to navy, orange and white combinations for their primary uniforms, the Broncos also unveiled a 1977-inspired throwback uniform (and it seems to be a big fan favorite). After the uniforms were announced on Monday, team president Damani Leech released the following statement:

This has been a thoughtful, collaborative journey that’s involved us listening to voices throughout all of Broncos Country to design the Mile High Collection, our modern and inspirational new uniforms for the Denver Broncos. We’re grateful for the engagement and creativity of ownership, the players, our business and football leadership, Nike and especially the best fans in the NFL during this process.

As we honor the championship tradition of the Broncos, we’re also committed to innovation and growth during such a transformative time in franchise history. Our new uniforms — the Mile High Collection — boldly integrate elements of our past, present and future while paying tribute to Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region we proudly call home.

The new uniforms are now available to purchase online and at the team store at Empower Field at Mile High. Denver will wear dark navy jerseys at home and white jerseys on the road. Alternate and throwback uniforms can be worn up to three times per season. View the new uniforms here.

Leaked uniform details emerge for Broncos’ new helmets

Mario Vetanze says the Broncos will have three helmet shells: primary matte navy, alternate white and a blue throwback.

Story update I: It looks like the new uniforms might have been leaked. View the photos here.

Story update II: Mario Vetanze told Broncos Wire that the sources for his leaks aren’t players.

Story update III: The new uniforms have arrived. View them here

The Denver Broncos are set to unveil new uniforms on Monday (April 22) and they have been trolling their fans with teasers while we wait for the unveiling.

We already know from team president Damani Leech that the colors are staying the same and the primary logo will remain the same. Now a few more details are beginning to leak.

Mario Vetanze, a certified posture exercise professional and massage therapist who lists many Broncos players among his clients, previously leaked a few details earlier this offseason. Vetanze returned on Thursday with the following notes, citing a “reliable source.”

Vetanze clarified that he has not seen the helmets himself, but the above information is “what I have been told” from a reliable source. Unlike the Detroit Lions, who had their entire uniforms leaked by Fanatics, the Broncos are keeping visual leaks under wraps.

We’ll find out if Vetanze’s info is accurate on Monday.

Broncos might have accidentally leaked their new alternate logo

The Broncos might have accidentally leaked their modernized alternate “D” logo ahead of their full uniform unveiling on April 22.

Just a few days after the Denver Broncos released a funny teaser video emphasizing no uniform leaks, a potential leak has hit the Internet.

A Broncos season ticket holder who goes by “richiejakobe” on Reddit shared a screenshot on Thursday that shows a modernized throwback “D” logo that is displayed on an official team graphic promoting “Club 1977” at their stadium.

Richiejakobe said in a Reddit comment that the team emailed them a link for more information on “Club 1977.” When the fan clicked the link, the official website showed the existing logo alongside a modernized throwback “D” logo. That throwback logo has since been removed from the website.

Interestingly, the “D” logo appears to exactly match a concept design that was created by graphic artist Drew Kauffman of Empery Designs in 2019. Broncos Wire has reached out to Kauffman for comment but has not yet heard back at time of publication.

It’s possible that the Broncos might have bought the design from Kauffman to use as their new alternate/throwback look, but that’s merely speculation. It’s also possible that richiejakobe altered the screenshot, but that would be an elaborate hoax.

We’ll get definitive answers when the new uniforms are unveiled on April 22, but Denver might have accidentally (or intentionally?) leaked a new logo early. Stay tuned for updates.

Texans’ new uniforms might hint at unveiling date for Broncos’ new look

The Texans will unveil new uniforms in April, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Broncos do the same.

We know the Denver Broncos are getting new uniforms — the team has confirmed that — but we don’t yet know when the uniforms will be unveiled.

Based on some deductive reasoning, it seems safe to assume the jerseys will be unveiled before the 2024 season. Denver’s current jerseys are all marked down at discounted prices on the team’s official online shop, perhaps a sign that new jerseys are arriving soon.

The release schedule for the Houston Texans’ new uniforms might hint at a similar timeline for the Broncos.

Texans CEO and chairman Cal McNair took to Reddit earlier this week to post a preview photo of Houston’s new look. This was his caption for the post: “Leaked pic? How about a real photo of Nico and Tank!? Way more to come in April!”

McNair’s post indicates that the Texans will have a full unveiling for their new uniform design in April, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Denver does the same. Revealing the uniforms before the NFL draft makes sense because the jerseys will be held on stage by draft picks and many fans will purchase the jerseys of the team’s first-round pick (especially if it’s a quarterback).

If the Broncos have new uniforms ready for the 2024 season (which seems likely), it wouldn’t make sense to wait until after the draft to unveil them. So, following a similar schedule as the Texans, Denver seems likely to unveil new uniforms next month.

This fan-made Broncos uniform looks beautiful

Would you be happy if the Broncos made this their new uniform?

We know the Denver Broncos are working on new uniforms, but we don’t know exactly what they’ll look like or when they’re set to arrive.

In the meantime, fans have been left to dream up their own uniform concepts. Here’s a beautiful uniform set created and shared by Tim Contic on his Twitter/X page:

The design looks beautiful, but Broncos Wire has two small quibbles with the alternate options. Denver is expected to continue using a white helmet as an alternate, so that’s accurate, and the team will also likely have a “D” logo throwback uniform. But this concept mockup did not include an alternate blue jersey or an all-orange Color Rush-style alternate.

We expect the Broncos’ next uniform set to at least include a blue alternate, and an updated Color Rush-styled alternate might be in the works as well.

Nothing is certain, though, because Denver has not been forthcoming about the state of the club’s uniform process.

“We’ll be having some things coming there in the future, but nothing to announce today,” Broncos owner/CEO Greg Penner said in January.

The fact that the team’s current uniforms are marked down with big discounts seemingly suggests that new uniforms will arrive in time for the 2024 season, but that’s just speculation. We expect an official announcement form the team in the coming months, perhaps before the NFL draft in April.

Broncos jersey sales might signal new uniforms on deck

Official Broncos uniforms are marked down with big sale prices on the team’s website, perhaps a sign of new uniforms arriving this year.

We know the Denver Broncos are working on new uniforms, but we don’t know when those new uniforms will arrive.

Based on how retailers are treating the team’s 2023 uniforms, some fans and pundits believe new uniforms will arrive in time for the 2024 season.

Official jerseys on the Broncos’ online store, NFL Shop and Fanatics are all marked down with significant sale prices. That might be a sign that the team and NFL partners are working to clear out old inventory before releasing new uniforms ahead of the upcoming season.

All of this is just speculation, of course, but where there’s smoke, there’s often fire when it comes to NFL uniform developments.

Greg Penner won’t spill the beans on Broncos’ new uniforms

“We’ll be having some things coming there in the future, but nothing to announce today,” Greg Penner said of the Broncos’ uniform changes.

We know the Denver Broncos are working on new uniforms. We don’t know when those uniforms will arrive and — contrary to speculation — we don’t know what the uniforms will look like.

Broncos owner/CEO Greg Penner was unwilling to spill the beans on the team’s uniform timeline during his end-of-season press conference.

“Uniforms  — nothing to announce on new uniforms today,” Penner said on Jan. 9. “That’s also been [some] learning for me. I just figured when you wanted to change your uniforms, you just made a new uniform. But boy, it’s a several-year process with the league and Nike to get there. We’ll be having some things coming there in the future, but nothing to announce today.”

One could infer that new uniforms will or won’t arrive in time for the 2024 season, depending on how you interpret Penner’s comments.

The Walton-Penner family purchased the Broncos just before the 2022 season. That did not leave time for new uniforms ahead of the 2023 season, but if Penner and Co. acted quickly, a new uniform could have been designed and approved in time for the 2024 campaign.

If Denver plans to unveil a new uniform before the upcoming season, an announcement should be expected in the coming months. It seems safe to assume that the uniforms will arrive at least before the 2025 season. In the meantime, we wait. With anticipation (and speculation) increasing, Penner’s in no rush to announce a timeline.

More thoughts on the Broncos’ uniform rumors

The Broncos told KOA Radio that the uniform concept floating around on social media has never been discussed by the team.

Last week, we passed along information from Mario Vetanze describing what the Denver Broncos’ next uniform will look like. Based on the descriptions from Vetanze and an anonymous poster on the Broncos’ forums, several fans created mockups of the upcoming uniform changes.

The most notable (and perhaps most controversial) changes were adding mountains to the shoulders and switching to a white helmet. It turns out those details might not be accurate.

After mockups with the mountains went viral on social media last week, the team got word out through KOA Radio’s Benjamin Allbright that such a design has never even been discussed by the club.

It’s hard to take that statement as completely truthful because Vetanze described what was described to him, and the people who leaked information to him had to have based it on something (perhaps early concept designs).

Vetanze said in an interview with Paul Lukas of Uni Watch that two people who briefly saw the uniforms described them to him. Vetanze did not specifically say his two sources were team players, but the massage therapist lists Broncos players among his clients on his website.

We know that the Broncos involved their team captains in the process of switching to a new alternate white helmet, and we know from Twitter/X that Vetanze seems to have a working relationship with safeties Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson (who were team captains in 2023).

Whoever it was that leaked descriptions to Vetanze, they likely described something they really saw. Whether they saw just a concept design or the final design is uncertain. The team claims no design resembling the recent concept leaks has ever been discussed.

Based on that response from the team, it’s probably safe to assume the final design won’t look like the fan mockups that went viral last week. We’re skeptical that such a design was never discussed at any point, however.

During his end-of-season press conference last week, team owner/CEO Greg Penner indicated that the process has taken longer than he expected.

“Nothing to announce on new uniforms today,” Penner said on Jan. 9. “That’s also been [some] learning for me. I just figured when you wanted to change your uniforms, you just made a new uniform. But boy, it’s a several-year process with the league and Nike to get there. We’ll be having some things coming there in the future, but nothing to announce today.”

The Walton-Penner family purchased the Broncos in late summer 2022. Getting a new uniform designed and approved in time for 2023 was too short of a turnaround. It remains to be seen if a new look will arrive before the 2024 campaign.

Rumors swirl about Broncos’ new uniforms

The Broncos are working on new uniforms and rumors are swirling about the details, including mountains being part of the design.

The Denver Broncos have given few details about their new uniform plans other than acknowledging that a new look is being worked on.

Two years ago, Broncos president Damani Leech said the club aims to balance its history of the uniform that won Super Bowls while also understanding that tastes and style evolve over time. That has led to speculation that Denver could put a modern spin on its current look.

The Broncos have already modified their Color Rush uniform to now include a new alternate white helmet, and the alternate look could get another refresh in 2024. Meanwhile, fans remain eager for information about the new primary uniform. Rumors have started.

Mario Vetanze, a certified posture exercise professional and massage therapist who lists Denver players among his clients, posted a thread on Twitter/X last month detailing some of the changes coming to the new uniforms. A few of those details:

This presumably means that the Broncos are not switching back to the old “D” logo permanently, but instead continuing to use it as an alternate.

More recently, someone who goes by “Brady2024” on Denver’s official forum platform teased additional details that should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Of note:

  • Switching to white helmets permanently
  • Keeping current logo with minor tweak
  • Three new tops and one throwback
  • Blue mountains on the sleeve
  • Subtle 5280 on side of pants

While the above info should be taken with a grain of salt, it’s perhaps notable that another Twitter/X page dedicated to NFL uniforms shared this concept design last week:

The mountains on the shoulders seem to be a running theme. A Reddit user who seemingly connected the dots from the above Twitter/forum posts shared this concept on Reddit as “almost dead on” for the new look:

(r/DenverBroncos on Reddit)

Once again, all of this should be taken in with at least some skepticism. They are only rumors at this point.

Another mockup based on the above info:

For what it’s worth, KOA Radio’s Benjamin Allbright says the mockup design is not a look that has been discussed by the team:

We do know that new uniforms are on the way. We don’t know exactly what they look like, but the above concepts are worth discussing. We should find out more from the team in the coming months.

Broncos expected to wear alternate or throwback helmet in 2023

Broncos are expected to wear an alternate or throwback helmet in 2023, different than the Color Rush helmet, which is just a sticker change.

Last year, the NFL had 13 teams wear alternate or throwback helmets during the 2022 season. The Denver Broncos were not among them (the Color Rush helmet doesn’t count because it’s just a sticker change on the existing helmet).

True alternate (or throwback) helmets are expected to be on the way for the Broncos in time for the 2023 season, according to Andrew Lind of SportsLogos.net.

Wearing an alternate helmet this fall might be a step toward revealing fully revised uniforms in 2024. Denver has teased that new uniforms are being worked on, and fans and graphic designers have been dreaming up potential uniforms for the club’s eventual new look.

The Detroit Lions will also debut alternate helmets in 2023 before revealing overhauled uniforms in 2024, according to the Detroit Free Press. It’s possible that the Broncos could be following a similar timeline.

Broncos Wire put together some mockups of alternate white and orange helmets last year, but what fans probably really want to see is a light blue helmet with the old “D” logo. Denver quarterback Russell Wilson has also made it clear that he’s a big fan of the team’s throwback look.

Wearing a true throwback light blue helmet would allow the Broncos to wear a full throwback uniform that could look like this. Sign us up for that!
