Commanders CB Marshon Lattimore will not play vs. Cowboys

No Marshon Lattimore on Sunday vs. Cowboys.

Washington Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore will miss his third consecutive game on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Dan Quinn announced Friday.

Acquired via trade from the New Orleans Saints three weeks ago, Lattimore has yet to practice for Washington as he rehabilitates a hamstring injury. Quinn said on Monday that Lattimore was trending in the right direction, and the Commanders knew fully about the hamstring injury ahead of the trade.

“We knew there was going to be some time where it wasn’t plug and play after the trade,” Quinn said. “And so, what I look for from the player to see, is he working as hard as he can to do that and learning as quick as he can? And good news for us is that Marshon’s like absolutely savage worker, wants to go be as ready as you can and digging in, but we’re just not going to take the chance.”

Washington plays Tennessee in Week 13 before a Week 14 bye. The Commanders could be targeting a Week 15 debut for Lattimore, which, coincidentally, will be against Lattimore’s former team, the New Orleans Saints.

Panthers K Eddy Piñeiro injured knee in one of the most silly, but understandable ways imaginable

Panthers K Eddy Piñeiro might’ve celebrated a bit too hard after nailing a game-winning field goal in Week 10.

Carolina Panthers kicker Eddy Piñeiro has had a lot to celebrate over the past few weeks. But he might have to make sure he doesn’t celebrate too hard from now on.

Piñeiro, unexpectedly, was listed as a limited participant at Thursday’s practice due to a left knee injury. He was then, in a worrisome development, put down as a non-participant for today’s session and deemed questionable for Sunday’s matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Well, turns out Piñeiro actually injured his knee in one of the most silly (but very understandable) ways imaginable.

According to head coach Dave Canales, Piñeiro tweaked the knee while celebrating his walk-off field goal against the New York Giants in Week 10. His 36-yard field goal resulted in a 20-17 overtime triumph for the Panthers and this little party on the seemingly perilous pitch of Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany . . .

That kick also helped Piñeiro become the most accurate field goal kicker in league history. He entered the bye with a success rate of 89.381 percent, which would move past the mark of Baltimore’s Justin Tucker after Tucker missed a pair of tries in Week 11.

Luckily for the Panthers, Piñeiro is still expected to play this weekend.

Panthers HC Dave Canales: Jonathon Brooks will not be on pitch count in NFL debut

It looks like the Panthers are ready to really unleash rookie RB Jonathon Brooks in Week 12.

The Carolina Panthers seem prepared to unleash their second-round pick in Week 12.

According to head coach Dave Canales, the team will not adhere to a “pitch count” for rookie running back Jonathon Brooks—who is set to make his NFL debut in this Sunday’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 21-year-old rusher has been sidelined since tearing his ACL last November.

“Not thinking pitch count,” Canales told reporters of Brooks on Friday afternoon. “He’s gotta be ready to play a full game. If something did happen and Chuba [Hubbard] broke a shoelace and he’s gotta get that fixed for a second, JB will be ready to go.”

Brooks will presumably play the No. 2 to Hubbard, who enters the weekend as the league’s fourth-leading rusher. Hubbard is also coming off a career-high 153 rushing yards in the Week 10 win over the New York Giants.

That backup role has been taken up this season by veteran Miles Sanders. Sanders, however, has been ruled out of the contest with an ankle injury.

Panthers Week 12 injury report: WR Adam Thielen expected to play vs. Chiefs

Panthers WR Adam Thielen is expected to make his return in Week 12.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young should have his safety net back here in Week 12.

According to head coach Dave Canales, wide receiver Adam Thielen (questionable) is expected to play in this Sunday’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 11th-year veteran, who has missed the last seven games due to a hamstring injury, led the team in receptions (103) and receiving yards (1,014) in 2023.

Canales and crew are also expecting rookie running back Jonathon Brooks (questionable) to make his NFL debut in the contest. Brooks, Carolina’s second-round selection from the 2024 draft, tore his ACL last November.

Kicker Eddy Piñeiro (questionable), per Canales, will suit up as well. Canales told reporters that Piñeiro tweaked his knee while celebrating his walk-off kick against the New York Giants in Week 10.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni provides an update on Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni says Jalen Hurts is good to go and and we’ll wait and see on the status of DeVonta Smith for game vs. Rams

The Eagles are moments from hitting the field for the final time this week, and DeVonta Smith could miss his third straight practice with a hamstring injury.

Head coach Nick Sirianni provided updates on his star players, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is healthy and ready to play against the Rams.

Jalyx Hunt and Milton Williams were limited participants after missing Wednesday’s session, while Britain Covey and Nakobe Dean all had full practices.

Jalen Hurts had a rest day on Wednesday but returned to practice as a full participant on Thursday as the Eagles work to keep their star quarterback healthy for the postseason.

Washington men’s soccer tops Seattle University in NCAA Tournament

The Washington Huskies are moving on in the NCAA Tournament after a victory in penalty kicks over Seattle University.

The Washington Huskies are moving on in the NCAA Tournament following a victory over the Seattle University Redhawks on Thursday night. The matchup was scoreless until penalty kicks, where coach Jamie Clark’s team was able to pull off a 3-0 win in the shootout thanks to goalie Jadon Bowton.

Bowton was the hero of the night, as the Redhawks controlled the pace for the majority of the night and sent 18 shots in his direction. He tallied saves on all 6 shots on goal, including two in overtime, while the Huskies were able to muster 11 shots, 3 on goal, against Redhawks goalkeeper Charlie Lanphier.

After 20 minutes of extra time, the match went to a penalty shootout, where Bowton stopped all three Redhawks shots, the first time he’s done that in his career.

“I don’t think so,” Bowton said after the game when asked if he’s ever saved three straight penalty kicks. “I saved three out of five once, but three in a row, I’ve never done that.”

Charlie Kosakoff, Chris Meyers, and Egor Akulov all found the back of the net for the Huskies to secure the victory and a date with the No. 12 seed SMU Mustangs on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 4:00 p.m. PST.

Giants waive franchise QB, former No. 6 overall pick Daniel Jones

The New York Giants have released former No. 6 overall pick and quarterback Daniel Jones ahead of the Week 12 game vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

There are daily and constant jokes about Daniel Jones, but we’re going to find out very quickly what he’s worth on the open market. After being benched and demoted to the fourth-string quarterback, Daniel Jones requested his release, and the Giants granted his wish.

Jones was drafted with the No. 6 pick from the Duke Blue Devils in the 2019 NFL Draft. After earning a contract extension in 2022, his struggles have continued in his sixth season with the Giants organization. Through 10 games this season, he has thrown just eight touchdowns to seven interceptions with a 79.4 passer rating and 46.8 quarterback rating.

While speaking to reporters Thursday, Jones thanked the organization and teammates and, while taking questions from the media, noted that his injury guarantee of $23 million was the prime factor in his demotion and scout team activity at safety.

“Well, I’ve got the injury guarantee,” Jones said. “So, that’s that. I understand it. They don’t want to take any risks. At that point, it’s just do as you’re told.”

Jones will finish his Giants career with a 64.1 completion percentage, 14,582 yards passing, 70 touchdowns, 47 interceptions, and an 84.3 passer rating.

Against Philadelphia, Jones has a passer rating of 88.6 with 1202 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions in 6 games against the Eagles in his career.

Giants officially release QB Daniel Jones

The New York Giants have announced the official release of quarterback Daniel Jones.

The New York Giants have announced that quarterback Daniel Jones has been released, 24 hours after he read an emotional goodbye.

“Daniel came to see me this morning and asked if we would release him. We mutually agreed that would be best for him and for the team,” co-owner John Mara said. “Daniel has been a great representative of our organization, first class in every way.

“His handling of this situation yesterday exemplifies just that. We are all disappointed in how things have worked out. We hold Daniel in high regard and have a great appreciation for him.

“We wish him nothing but the best in the future.”

It was evident from his tone on Thursday that Jones considered his time with the Giants over and indicated that he was likely to request his release.

After returning from their bye week, head coach Brian Daboll revealed that Jones had been demoted to QB3. He was demoted to QB4 a day later when the team signed Tim Boyle to their practice squad.

The decision to demote Jones was made both due to his poor play this season and his injury clause, which accounted for $23 million guaranteed in 2025.

Many of Jones’ teammates came to his defense following the benching, some publicly and others privately. One offensive player called the decision to sit Jone “weak as (expletive).”

Nose tackle Dexter Lawrence and wide receiver Darius Slayton were among those to publicly endorse Jones with Lawrence saying he was clearly the best quarterback on the roster.

“I wish Daniel the best,” Daboll told reporters. “A lot of respect for him. True pro. I wish him all the best.”

Jones will now be subject to waivers. However, due to his contract, it’s expected that he will clear at 4:01 p.m. ET on Saturday and be free to sign with another team.

Todd Bowles hinted that Evans may be coming back after the Bye Week, and we got an idea of his status during the Thursday injury report.

Eagles sign former Rams edge rusher two days before facing LA

For the 2nd straight week, Ochaun Mathis will be a member of the opposing team when the Rams take the field

The Philadelphia Eagles might be looking for some intel on the Los Angeles Rams’ defense ahead of Sunday night’s showdown at SoFi Stadium. On Friday morning, just two days before facing the Rams, the Eagles signed one of LA’s former draft picks: 2023 sixth-rounder, Ochaun Mathis.

Philadelphia added Mathis to the practice squad after he was released by the Patriots this week. That means this will be the second straight week Mathis will be a member of the opposing team when the Rams take the field.

It’s not certain that Mathis will be elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game and he was inactive last week against the Rams, so it’s possible he won’t get the chance to play against the team that drafted him.

Mathis was released by the Rams in August when they trimmed their roster down and the Patriots signed him just five days later. He was active for eight games with the Rams last year and five with New England this season.
