Michigan State football releases assistant coach salaries

MSU assistant coaches have gotten raises for the 2022 season

The start of football in 2022 is soon upon us as the Spartans are set to kick off spring ball in just a few short weeks. With spring ball starting, the coaching carousel is officially dying down and coaching staffs are being completely solidified across the country.

It appears that Mel Tucker has locked in his staff for the 2022 football season and the Spartans are ready to roll into spring football.

With Tucker’s new contract came an increase in the money available to pay assistant coaches, which Tucker used to increase the salaries of his assistant coaches, and fill the open positions left on his staff.

Find out what each assistant coaches new salary is:

Pro Wrestling Legend Mark Henry says he will be in East Lansing this summer to visit new MSU football coach Brandon Jordan

Pro Wrestling Legend Mark Henry says he will be in East Lansing this summer to visit new MSU football coach Brandon Jordan

Mark Henry is a 2-time Olympic powerlifter, a world champion in powerlifting who was once named the World’s strongest man, a WWE Hall of Famer and is now working with All Elite Wrestling. On Wednesday, he made a random and interesting comment, saying that he will be visiting with new Michigan State football pass rush coach Brandon Jordan.

I am not really sure what this means, or why specifically Henry will be heading to East Lansing, but it should be noted that Henry was known to help scout talent for WWE during his time with that company, so he could be looking to do the same for his new company All Elite Wrestling.

Michigan State football makes 5-star DE Jayden Wayne’s top schools list

MSU is firmly in the thick of things regarding a 5-star DE’s recruitment.

Mel Tucker has been traveling around the recruiting trail nonstop since the calendar turned to 2022, constantly visiting high schools across the country. Earlier this week, Tucker was in Tacoma, Washington, visiting Lincoln High School. Lincoln is the home of 5-star defensive end Jayden Wayne, who came away with an offer, as well as very impressed with Michigan State and Mel Tucker.

The impressions that Tucker and his staff have left the 5-star has led to their inclusion as Wayne has narrowed his top schools list down to eleven.

Michigan State is included alongside Georgia, Auburn, Texas, USC, Washington, Alabama, Miami, Florida, LSU and Oregon.

Wayne currently ranks as the No. 31 overall recruit and No. 5 defensive lineman according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Wayne was set to start training privately with MSU’s new pass rush specialist Brandon Jordan, before he was hired by Michigan State.

Jordan’s prowess along with the relationship Tucker and Wayne are developing should put the Spartans firmly in the mix in this 5-star’s recruitment.

REPORT: Michigan State football finalizing deal with defensive and offensive line specialist Brandon Jordan to come in as coach

REPORT: Michigan State finalizing deal with defensive and offensive line specialist Brandon Jordan to come in as Pass Rush Specialist coach

This might go down as one of the best hires of Mel Tucker’s time at Michigan State football. On Wednesday night, Bruce Feldman of The Athletic reported that the Spartans are finalizing a deal with Brandon Jordan to become their new Pass Rush Specialist coach.

Jordan is currently one of the top private defensive line and offensive line specialists in the country well over 100 players he has worked with now on NFL rosters.

This is a move that many insiders are calling one of the savviest in recent MSU football history, as Jordan has relationships with some of the top pass rushers at the high school level, who seek him out for his tutelage.

Jordan should make an immediate impact in recruiting, and we should also see his impact on the field when he has a chance to work with the linemen already on the roster.

Texans DT Brandon Dunn building momentum for training camp

Houston Texans defensive tackle Brandon Dunn is working hard to build momentum to come into training camp strong and full of energy.

Brandon Dunn didn’t have a satisfactory conclusion to the 2020 season.

The 6-2, 310-pound defensive tackle was done for the season after 13 games with a pelvic fracture. The Houston Texan’s defensive lineman has been healing and rehabilitating over the entire offseason.

The dead period from early June to late July is one of the last tranquil parts of the offseason before training camp begins and the grind of the NFL season is underway.

With training camp set to begin at the end of the month, Dunn has been working with personal defensive line coach Brandon Jordan to build momentum to carry into camp.

“This is great,” Dunn said via Aaron Wilson of Sports Talk 790. “This is my fourth week since I’ve been cleared. I just want to get some work. Some of my ex-teammates and former teammates come here I’m basically we all get work together. We’re all defensive linemen. We all know what we need. I reached out to Brandon. He answered the call. He took care of me. I’ve been there with him ever since.”

Dunn has been working out with Texans teammates Jacob Martin, Jaleel Johnson, and Vincent Taylor — just “part of the crowd.

“I hope it speaks volumes,” said Dunn. “I hope it rubs off on some young players around me. At the end of the day, we all have to work. We’re all working for a goal. I’m just a part of the crowd.”

The Texans went 4-12 last season with a five-game losing streak to close out the year. Even Dunn’s last game against the Chicago Bears in Week 14 was a 36-7 drubbing.

Since joining the Texans midway through the 2015 season, Dunn has experienced four winning seasons and two losing campaigns. However, even the winning seasons — each with an AFC South title — ended in heartbreak in the playoffs.

Said Dunn: “I just want to win. We all want to win. That’s the most important thing is winning and that’s been imbedded in the players. We’re going to take that and go to camp and hopefully everybody gets the message that we’re out to win, nothing else. Simple. It’s all simple, just three letters: W-I-N.”

Dunn has collected 114 combined tackles, eight tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, nine quarterback hits, two fumble recoveries, a pass breakup, and a fumble recovery through 76 career games with the Bears and Texans.
