Urban Meyer and Fox Big Noon Kickoff crew picks winner of Ohio State vs. Penn State

Who did each member of the Fox Big Noon Kickoff crew pick to win between Ohio State and Penn State? #GoBucks

It’s game day for the Ohio State football team, but not just any game day. Ohio State is hosting a top ten Penn State squad that could be its biggest challenge of the season to date (no offense Notre Dame).

You know it’s a big one when the two major pregame shows originate from the banks of the Olentangy, and that’s exactly what we have Saturday with Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff and ESPN’s College GameDay in the shadow of Ohio Stadium

The ESPN crew already made their picks, and shortly thereafter, Urban Meyer and and the rest of the crew including Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn, and Mark Ingram all made their predictions and had differing opinions.

Here’s what they all said.

How social media reacted to Notre Dame-USC: Irish side

Pretty much everyone is happy and rightfully so.

Notre Dame fans were on edge the entire week after a disappointing loss at Louisville. It didn’t help that Caleb Williams and his high-powered USC offense were about to come to South Bend. While a victory wasn’t impossible and the Irish even were listed as a slight favorite, the confidence in a win happening wasn’t that high. Those fears were put to rest with a 38-20 win.

Maybe the best part about the win is that it not only came against the Irish’s biggest rival and made college football’s best player look vulnerable, but it came right before a bye week. That means the fans will get to enjoy it for a little longer. If the field celebrating on the Notre Dame Stadium field afterwards isn’t an indication of things to come, nothing is.

There were a lot of tweets celebrating this victory. Here are some of the best that were found:

Watch: Matt Lienart re-enacts ‘Bush Push’ in front of Brady Quinn

18 years later and it still stings

Few college football games in history stack up to what 2005’s edition of Notre Dame vs. USC presented.

An all-time exciting game with an all-time finish.

Notre Dame was one play away from snapping USC’s 27-game winning streak and knocking off No. 1 but thanks to help from Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush, quarterback Matt Leinart found the end zone.

To this day that play is remembered as the “Bush Push”.  I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know if you’re a Notre Dame or USC fan but two stars from that game are on campus this weekend.

Former Notre Dame quarterback [autotag]Brady Quinn[/autotag] works with Leinart on the Fox Sports “Big Noon Kickoff” show that is broadcasting from South Bend for the first time Saturday.

On Thursday night the two were on the field to re-enact the legendary play that still stings Irish hearts to this day.  Check it out below as we’re certain there will be a piece on the show Saturday morning.

Don’t miss: Notre Dame-USC staff predictions

Social media reacts to Notre Dame walk-on scoring game-tying touchdown

Bet you didn’t have him scoring.

As far as Notre Dame walk-ons go, it’s gonna be tough to top [autotag]Rudy Ruettiger[/autotag] in terms of notoriety. But it’s a lot easier to pass Ruettiger in on-field performance if you have a chance to play. [autotag]Jordan Faison[/autotag] got that chance in the second quarter against Louisville, and he came up at a big time. Two plays after making his first collegiate catch, he caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from [autotag]Sam Hartman[/autotag] to tie the game:

Whatever happens the rest of this game, Faison will have this moment forever. Not everyone in his position has this particular opportunity, and he made the most of his. If he has a few more plays like this, he’ll be listed on the depth chart every week. Not bad for someone whose main sport is lacrosse.

While Faison is waiting, he can read these and other reactions that were posted to social media after his touchdown:

Watch: Former Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn pays off bet to Ohio State in-law

Take that off now Brady

When [autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] lost at home to Ohio State, it wasn’t just the Irish that lost.

[autotag]Brady Quinn[/autotag], whose brother in-law is former Buckeye linebacker [autotag]AJ Hawk[/autotag], made a bet with each other on who would win the game. Unfortunately, the former Irish quarterback had to pay off his bet in front of a large audience.

On the set of [autotag]Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff[/autotag] pre-game show, Quinn arrived on set with a Hawk Ohio State jersey, officially completing the wager. Check out the video below of the incident.

We certainly don’t agree with [autotag]Urban Meyer[/autotag]’s comments, Brady looks much better in Blue and Gold.

Watch: Brady Quinn pays off bet, wears Ohio State football jersey

Quinn looks good… #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] defeating Notre Dame didn’t just have implication on the field, there were some off the field as well.

Former Irish quarterback, [autotag]Brady Quinn[/autotag], whose brother in-law is former Buckeye linebacker [autotag]AJ Hawk[/autotag], made a bet and we all know who won. The payoff was Quinn having to wear a Buckeye jersey, and he just so happened to do it in Columbus on the set of Fox’s pregame show, [autotag]Big Noon Saturday[/autotag].

Check out the video below of Quinn in front of plenty of Buckeye fans wearing a Hawk jersey, with former Ohio State national championship head coach [autotag]Urban Meyer[/autotag] liking his outfit choice.

Watch: Will Ferrell’s trash-talk to Brady Quinn

“NUMBER 10 — YOUR PANTS ARE TOO HIGH!”

Perhaps Notre Dame‘s most-known quarterback of the last 20-years is [autotag]Brady Quinn[/autotag].  He holds countless Fighting Irish passing records and was a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist during his college days.

Notre Dame’s biggest rival is obviously USC and one of their most famous graduates is comedian and actor Will Ferrell.

Ferrell was at his peak while Quinn was at Notre Dame from 2003-2006 and frequented the USC sidelines at the Coliseum.  We now also know that Ferrell used to trash talk Quinn when the Irish were in town.

Ferrell’s trash talk was one-of-a-kind though, something that the two discussed as Quinn was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show, live from Dublin on Thursday.  Watch below:

Genius by Ferrell.

Players hear about their mothers, get called names that can’t be said here, and plenty of other things during games.  Being called out for their way of wearing pants or for how they run is hilarious though.

Check out pictures of Quinn from his 2006 trip to USC below.  Unfortunately the Irish were routed in that contest 44-24.

Notre Dame-Ohio State: Brady Quinn feels great about Irish chances Saturday

“A 10!”

Not that anyone would expect legendary Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn to pick against the Irish when they take on Ohio State this weekend, but just how certain is he of an Irish win?

During a radio interview earlier this week Quinn called his confidence level in a Notre Dame victory a “10”.

Quinn didn’t just play homer and not give reasons why he has such confidence in Notre Dame.  He had plenty of things to back his confidence.

“Looking at their skill positions,” Quinn said. “they’re as long and as athletic and as skillful as I’ve seen in my lifetime.”

“This is a group that’s recruited well, they’ve developed well,” Quinn said. “They’ve been primed now to try to have that breakthrough, and I think Sam Hartman’s the guy that’s now opening so many things up for them on the outside at wide receiver.”

“This group feels very similar to Michigan as far as how this team is built,” Quinn said. “They’re still built through the running game, dominating you physically, but sound, solid defense. They can get pressure, they can get turnovers, but now they’ve got people to make the big plays, too, with the quarterback.”

Let’s hope the old No. 10’s prediction ends up being a perfect 10.

Will Ferrell’s USC trash talk to Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn was original

.@IrishWireND passed along this fun story. Also fun: #USC beating Notre Dame regularly under Pete Carroll.

Our friends at Fighting Irish Wire are generous. They sent us this next story even though it contains a lot of USC glee at Notre Dame’s expense.

Here’s Fighting Irish Wire editor Nick Shepkowski:

“Perhaps Notre Dame‘s most-known quarterback of the last 20-years is Brady Quinn.  He holds countless Fighting Irish passing records and was a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist during his college days.

“Notre Dame’s biggest rival is obviously USC and one of their most famous graduates is comedian and actor Will Ferrell.

Shepkowski noted that “Ferrell’s trash talk was one-of-a-kind though, something that the two discussed as Quinn was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show, live from Dublin on Thursday.”

You will want to watch the video in the article. It’s worth it — not just from a USC perspective, but for anyone who wants a good laugh.

Notre Dame football announces their 4 captains for the 2023 season

The four are set for the Irish

It’s a right of passage at many schools to be named a captain and it’s no different for [autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag].

The Irish have a storied tradition in South Bend and many of the luminary players were once named captain. Previous players like [autotag]Brady Quinn[/autotag], [autotag]Zack Martin[/autotag], [autotag]Knute Rockne[/autotag], and [autotag]Manti Te’o[/autotag] have all been named Notre Dame captain.

The 2023 season will feature four captain, two players on each side of the ball. It’s a bit different from last season, where six different players were captains at one point during the year.

Find out below which four were named Notre Dame captain for this coming season.
