Michigan football trending for elite 2026 quarterback

Fingers crossed he drops soon! #GoBlue

The Wolverines held their penultimate big recruiting weekend of the late-spring, and one prospect appears to have left Ann Arbor feeling a little blue — and maize.

2026 Cocoa (Fla.) four-star quarterback Brady Hart has drawn a lot of comparisons to former Michigan football QB J.J. McCarthy, with his 6-foot-4, 180-pound frame and his name being two parts of two Michigan legends in Tom Brady and Mike Hart. Though Notre Dame has been making a late run while Clemson got an early prediction for the young signal caller, his unofficial visit clearly couldn’t have gone better given the reaction from recruitniks.

Starting at 247Sports, the Clemson prediction from Tom Loy still stands, but on Monday evening, Hart got three predictions — all from The Michigan Insider staff — indicating he’ll wear a winged helmet once it’s all said and done.

What’s more, despite early predictions for Notre Dame and Clemson on On3, on Monday evening, four staffers (EJ Holland, Zach Libby, Steve Wiltfong, and Chad Simmons) there predicted that Hart will end up as a Wolverine. He now has a 62.8% chance to end up wearing maize and blue.

Hart also got predictions from Josh Henschke and John Garcia Jr. over at Rivals.

Rivals is the highest on Hart, who is listed as the No. 42 prospect in the country, regardless of position. Here is how he breaks down according to the recruiting services.

Stars Overall Position State
247Sports 4 144 #9 QB #25
On3 4 170 #10 QB #27
Rivals 4 42 #3 QB #4
ESPN 4 120 #8 QB #23
247Sports Composite 4 92 #7 QB #15
On3 Consensus 4 92 #9 QB #15

The scouting report from 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins:

Modern pocket passer with a favorable frame that led his team to a Florida 2S title as a first-year starter. More of a drive-ball thrower than can generate plenty of power by synching up his arm and plant foot. Owns a bit of an elongated release, but can get the ball out quick, and has to in a wide-open spread attack that wants to challenge horizontally with swing/screen passes. First caught our eye in a matchup against nationally-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas where he put a number of 2-balls on tight lines and exploited coverage. Also impressed with his timing as he frequently hit his marks on schedule. Can be a bit streaky at times, and isn’t one with a ton of deep shots on the spray chart, but looks like a potential Power Four starter heading into junior season, especially if he can keep progressing as a full-field reader.

Hart is the son of former MLB draft selectee Alex Hart, who played at Florida and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

If he does commit soon, he would be the first in the 2026 class for the Wolvrerines.

2026 5-star LSU quarterback target Dia Bell commits to Texas

Dia Bell was on campus for LSU’s Elite camp last week.

LSU already has its 2025 quarterback on board in No. 1 overall recruit [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag], and it’s looking to lock up an elite option in the 2026 class, as well.

One of its premier options has now committed elsewhere, however. On Monday, five-star American Heritage (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) quarterback [autotag]Dia Bell[/autotag] committed to Texas over the Tigers and others. LSU had recently hosted him for its Elite camp last week.

Bell ranks as the No. 10 prospect in America, the top player in Florida and the No. 2 quarterback in the 2026 cycle.

With Bell committing to the Longhorns, LSU will likely turn its focus to fellow five-star [autotag]Faizon Brandon[/autotag], who took a visit to Baton Rouge this past weekend, as well as [autotag]Brady Hart[/autotag], a four-star from Cocoa, Florida, who was also recently on campus.

LSU is still searching for its first commitment in the 2026 cycle.

LSU hosts another 5-star QB for a visit this weekend

With Bryce Underwood committed in 2025, LSU has fully turned its attention to the 2026 cycle at quarterback.

LSU already holds a commitment from the top quarterback and No. 1 overall player in the 2025 class, [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag].

While anything can happen in recruiting, Underwood’s commitment to the Tigers seems to be solid, and that has opened up co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach [autotag]Joe Sloan[/autotag] to turn his focus to the 2026 class.

The Tigers hosted a pair of blue chip quarterback prospects this week in four-star [autotag]Brady Hart[/autotag] and five-star [autotag]Dia Bell[/autotag], the latter of which participated in LSU’s Elite Camp on Thursday. Now, the staff is set to host another 2026 five-star.

[autotag]Faizon Brandon[/autotag], the No. 9 overall player in the cycle, will be in town, according to On3’s Shea Dixon. The Grimsley (Greensboro, N.C.) prospect has previously spoken highly of Sloan, per On3’s Chad Simmons.

“I’ve built a pretty good relationship with him. Seeing what he does with quarterbacks is one of the reasons why LSU is on my radar,” Brandon said. “I like how he develops quarterbacks. I like how he works with the quarterbacks.”

It’s going to be a busy June for Brandon, who has visits set with Alabama and Penn State and will also potentially visit North Carolina and NC State. The rising junior said he’s hoping to trim his list down to six by the end of the summer.

Tennessee currently leads the way for Brandon on the On3 recruiting prediction machine, but LSU will hope this staff’s quarterback success convinces Brandon to come to the Bayou.

Huskers offer class of 2026 quarterback

Brady Hart is a four-star prospect from Cocoa High School out of Cocoa, Florida.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have extended an offer to a class of 2026 quarterback. Brady Hart is a four-star prospect from Cocoa High School out of Cocoa, Florida.

The quarterback had an impressive sophomore season as the varsity starter. He appeared in 15 games and threw for 3,759 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Hart is currently ranked as the seventh-best quarterback in the class of 2026 and the 15th-ranked player in the state of Florida. He holds multiple Power Four scholarship offers but is currently viewed as leaning toward the Clemson Tigers or the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

No word on Nebraska’s level of involvement in Hart’s recruiting process, but it is something to keep an eye on moving forward.

Blue-chip 2026 quarterback recruit details visit with Gators this week

Billy Napier and his army of coaches continue to grind away on the college football recruiting trail in search of the best the nation has to offer from the prep ranks. Much of the focus of late has been on the 2025 class but Florida has not been neglecting the following cycle either.

One of the top quarterbacks among the sophomore high school ranks is four-star passer Brady Hart from Cocoa (Florida) in the 2026 class. The 6-foot-4-180-pound signal-caller recently made a two-day visit to Gainesville and came away with a much better understanding of where he stands with the program early in his recruitment.

Hart spoke with Swamp247’s Blake Alderman after the visit and provided the following details.

“So I got in on Thursday and flew from South Bend right to the Gainesville airport at like 11:30 and went right straight to the facilities,” Hart told Swamp247. “I met with Coach (Ryan) O’Hara for a while, and just walked around and talked with him. He introduced himself to my dad, and then we got to tour the facilities.

“Talked with the nutritionist, strength and conditioning coach, and then went to quarterback meetings, team meetings, and then went to practice. I was on O’Hara and Coach (Billy) Napier’s hip the whole time at practice following them around. They would walk me through their plays and tell me the read before they called them. It was pretty sweet seeing the whole script.

“Got some time to talk with Napier after practice, and we got to really get to know him on a personal level. My dad enjoyed it a lot, and Coach Napier basically told us he wants us to be there and to be the quarterback in this class. That was surreal because it’s like a dream come true for me.”

“Friday was more on an in-depth meeting with Coach O’Hara. We talked about quarterback development and watched a lot of my film, and their film. It was sort of spliced together to show how I would fit into the system. I thought it was awesome, and a really cool experience. Seeing Coach O’Hara talk about all the different situations and plays. We run a similar system at my school that Florida does.”

“I thought it was really awesome to get to pick their brain about the game. They would challenge me too and my knowledge of the game. It was just awesome. I think it also spoke to their knowledge by seeing how guys like DJ [Lagway] and Graham [Mertz] have grown in their game from being there. It was cool to learn from them, and take little things from each of these visits to use in my game and push myself. You want to be valued, and get in-depth coaching, and they do that at Florida.”

“It was definitely a valued visit that I enjoyed a lot,” he said of the UF visit. “I am just going to keep going on these next couple of visits, and soak everything in. We are going to go back for another round of visits probably. Get like a top three, four, or five schools that we are really serious about, and then go back again. Then make the decision.”

“They definitely answered that question I had for them,” he said. “Really important to see that they are serious about me. Real cool visit. We are going to see these next several weeks. We are going to see if the effort put in. We are going to see how things build and where I stand on their board.”

Hart is ranked No. 110 overall and No. 9 at his position nationally according to the On3 industry ranking while Rivals has him rated at Nos. 49 and 4, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Notre Dame Fighting Irish an overwhelming 95.3% chance of signing him, followed by Florida (1.4%) and the Miami Hurricanes (1.2%).

4-star 2026 quarterback will visit Notre Dame early next week

The Irish will have the chance to impress the 4-star QB

Notre Dame already has its 2025 quarterback in Deuce Knight, but that isn’t stopping the Irish coach staff from looking ahead to the 2026 class.

Florida’s [autotag]Brady Hart[/autotag] will make more than a few visits after this week concludes, and the first stop will be in South Bend. The 6-foot, 4-inch and 180-pound quarterback is ranked by On3 as a 4-star prospect at this early juncture of his class.

Hart will also make stops to see Miami, North Carolina, Florida State and Florida. He’s had an Irish offer since last December, showing him that he’s a priority for Notre Dame. There’s more good news as well, as there is just one 247Sports Crystal Ball pick and it is for the Irish.

Gators hosting trio of 2026 QB prospects for first junior day of 2024

Among the visitors expected to be in attendance this weekend is a trio of Sunshine State quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

Florida football is hosting its first junior day event of the 2024 calendar year on Saturday, Jan. 13, in Gainesville as Billy Napier and Co. look ahead to the coming one of the upcoming recruiting classes.

Among the visitors expected to be in attendance this weekend is a trio of Sunshine State quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting cycle. None have earned a rating according to 247Sports but all are coveted passers in their class.

Firstly, there is Tampa Bay Tech’s [autotag]Logan Rogers[/autotag], a 6-foot-2-inch, 190-pound junior who is the only one of the three to currently hold a scholarship offer from the Gators. He has visited campus numerous times, including a trip back in August before the regular season began.

“It was great,” Rogers told Swamp247. “The coaches were great. Loved it. It was like a great, competitive atmosphere. Great bonding with everyone and a great event. It’s great getting into the recruiting process early. Just being in the facility and getting to know the coaches better.”

Next is Cocoa High’s [autotag]Brady Hart[/autotag], a 6-foot-4-inch, 185-pound signal caller from the opposite coast. He is the son of former Florida pitcher Alex Hart, who played for the Orange and Blue from 1999-2002 and was a fifth-round pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2002 MLB draft.

Finally, there is Lake Mary High’s [autotag]Noah Grubbs[/autotag], a 6-foot-4-inch, 205-pound prospect from right in between the other two who has stopped in Gainesville twice as a recruit. He put up a 10-2 record in 2023, tossing for 3,670 yards at a 58.7% clip plus 49 touchdowns versus 10 interceptions.

Napier’s staff also expects to get another in-state quarterback — Tampa Jesuit High’s Will Griffin in town for a junior day sometime this offseason. Griffin is a four-star recruit in the 2026 class and is ranked No. 62 overall and No. 5 at his position, according to the 247Sports composite.
