247Sports predicts College Football Playoff and New Years Six games

247Sports likes the ‘Horns to advance to the national championship.

We are almost to the beginning of the New Year’s Six slate of games. The Texas Longhorns are at the apex of the games capping New Year’s Day in the primetime game of the College Football Playoff.

No. 3 Texas (12-1) takes on the No. 2 Washington Huskies (13-0) in what should be an epic shootout between two great offenses. Washington quarterback Michael Penix has three outstanding receivers at his disposal. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers has four great receiving targets as well.

On the other end of the playoff bracket stand the No. 1 Michigan Wolverines and the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide. The game is one of the more polarizing matchups of the college football postseason. Some believe Alabama will roll past No. 1 seeded Michigan while others see the Wolverines holding their own.

Several other high profile matchups complete the six game showcase. Here’s how 247Sports analysts Brad Crawford and Chris Hummer see the games unfolding.

Predicting the winner of each bowl game for the 2023-2024 season

With College Football postseason getting underway, here are predictions for every single bowl game (including the College Football Playoff)

The 2023 college football regular season was intriguing, to say the least. The controversy surrounding which programs should reach the College Football Playoff was the cherry on top. Despite the CFP-FSU debacle, the bowl game matchups are now fully set and fans across the country are ready for them to get started.

Several programs that were left out of the playoffs will meet in bowl games which creates even more intrigue. The bowl season is full of surprises from players deciding to sit out to coaching changes being made before bowl games are played.

Needless to say, this year’s bowl slate will be one to follow. Here predictions for each bowl game for the 2023-2024 season.

Alabama football bowl game projections after Week 8

Alabama projected to face a potential undefeated conference champion in latest bowl game predictions.

Alabama’s early-season loss to Texas at home did serious damage to the Crimson Tide’s chances of reaching the College Football Playoff, but it did not eliminate the possibility of a playoff push, which is exactly what we are witnessing now.

Following the Tide’s impressive comeback win against Tennessee, the latest bowl game projections by ESPN (subscription required) have Alabama out of the playoffs.

College football experts Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura both have the Crimson Tide facing Oklahoma in their respective projections. The difference, however, is that Schlabach has Alabama in the Peach Bowl, while Bonagura has them in the Cotton Bowl.

Oklahoma is currently undefeated, with an impressive win over Texas, and appears poised to run the table in the Big 12. If this is the case, it would be the second consecutive season that Alabama takes on a Big 12 champion. Last season, the Tide defeated Kansas State in the Sugar Bowl.
