Boston Red Sox at San Francisco Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Boston Red Sox at San Francisco Giants odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston Red Sox (56-48) and San Francisco Giants (57-48) close out a 3-game set at Oracle Park Sunday. First pitch is at 4:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Red Sox vs. Giants odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1

The 1st 2 games of the series have ended in 3-2 finishes – one for each side. The Red Sox lost the Saturday slate to snap a 5-game winning streak. They are 14-6 over the last 20 games to pull within 2 1/2 games of a Wild-Card spot in the AL.

The Giants have won 3 of 4, but are just 3-7 over the last 10 games. They still hold a 1/2-game lead on the top Wild-Card spot in the NL. The American League has given them fits at 14-17 this year. They are slightly better at home at 29-23 as opposed to 28-25 on the road.

Red Sox at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Sox 6, Giants 3

Moneyline

This game will be a battle of the bullpens, and both teams sport good ones. Boston’s is 6th in MLB with a 3.69 ERA, and the Giants’ pen is 7th at 3.72. Both closers may be iffy for Sunday. Giants closer Camilo Doval threw 25 pitches Saturday. Kenley Jansen has pitched 2 straight days for Boston, but he combined to throw 10 pitches altogether.

All in all, I like the RED SOX -125 more here. They haven’t allowed more than 3 runs in the last 5 games.

Run line/Against the spread

The Red Sox are 26-25 on the road this year, but they are 29-22 on the RL away from Fenway. They figure to have the early advantage with the better opener and hit .262 vs. lefties while the Giants hit just .243 against them.

I’ll take the RED SOX -1.5 (+135).

Over/Under

Boston is 3-7 O/U over the last 10, and the Giants are 2-8. Both games in the series have gone Under. However, in this bullpen game with some questions in the back end, I’m feeling some trends could be broken. The Over is 6-4 in the last 10 meetings between the teams.

I’ll take the OVER 8 (-115) in this bullpen game for both sides.

Boston Red Sox at San Francisco Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Boston Red Sox at San Francisco Giants odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston Red Sox (56-47) will play the 2nd game of a 3-game series against the San Francisco Giants (56-48) Saturday at Oracle Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Red Sox vs. Giants odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Red Sox lead 1-0

In Friday’s 3-2 victory over the Giants, 1B Triston Casas hit his 16th home run (4th in the last 5 games) of the season, and he had his 5th multi-hit performance in the last 6 games. Boston has won 5 straight games and is 7 games back of the Baltimore Orioles atop the AL East.

It was DH Joc Pederson and OF Michael Conforto, who supplied the 2 runs for the Giants Friday as Pederson hit his 11th homer of the season. Despite losing Friday, San Francisco remains 3 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West race.

Red Sox at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Sox 4, Giants 3

Moneyline

With how Boston has performed recently, I’ll side with the RED SOX (-115) on the road in Saturday’s contest. Paxton should have success against a Giants lineup that features a few lefties.

Run line/Against the spread

Even though the Giants should keep this game close at home, I’ll PASS on betting on the run line in this matchup.

Over/Under

UNDER 8 (+100) is how I’d wager on the run total with Paxton on the mound for the Red Sox. Since the start of June, the Giants have the 4th-lowest ISO (.117), wOBA (.283) and wRC+ (77) against left-handed pitching.

Boston Red Sox at San Francisco Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Boston Red Sox at San Francisco Giants odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston Red Sox (55-47) and San Francisco Giants (56-47) meet Friday to kick off a 3-game series. First pitch from Oracle Park is set for 10:15 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Red Sox vs. Giants odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting since Giants won the 2019 series 2-1

Boston is currently on a 4-game win streak after a previous 3-game losing streak, having swept the Braves in a 2-game series and beating the Mets 2-1 in their series. The Red Sox are 3-3 in their last 6 road games and sit at 25-24 on the road this season.

The Giants have been a very streaky team as of late, recently having a 7-game win streak followed by a 6-game losing streak. San Francisco has won back-to-back games since that losing streak and they are 28-22 at home on the year.

Red Sox at Giants projected starters

RHP Kutter Crawford vs. RHP Logan Webb

Crawford (4-5, 4.04 ERA) makes his 12th start and 20th appearance. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9 and 8.7 K/9 in 71 1/3 innings.

  • Last outing: Loss, 4 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 0 BB, 2 K in a 5-4 home loss Friday vs. New York Mets
  • First career start vs. San Francisco

Webb (8-8, 3.48 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 9.1 K/9 in 134 1/3 innings

  • Last outing: Loss, 1 1/3 IP, 6 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 2 K in a 10-1 road loss Saturday vs. Washington Nationals
  • 1 career start vs. Boston: 0-0, 5.40 ERA (5 IP, 3 ER), 3 H, 4 BB, 3 K in 7-6 loss in 2019

Red Sox at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Sox 6, Giants 3

Moneyline

LEAN RED SOX (+120).

The Red Sox are the hotter team, being 7-3 in their last 10 games and sitting on a 4-game win streak. The Giants are a good home team and have strung together back-to-back wins, but I like the Red Sox to win here as the underdog.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

I like the Red Sox to cover here, but at +1.5 (-175) the line is too risky. Bet on the moneyline and/or O/U instead.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET OVER 7.5 (-115).

The Over is 4-1 in Boston’s last 5 road games overall and 3-1 in Crawford’s last 4 starts.

And for what it’s worth, the Over cashed in all 3 meetings in 2019.
