Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to New York’s moves.
The Knicks did well for themselves here by adding some veterans.
The New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons were two of the busiest teams at the 2024 NBA trade deadline.
New York moved on from Quentin Grimes and Evan Fournier, two players they were long rumored to have on the market, for immediate scoring help from Alec Burks and Bojan Bogdanovic (who is averaging more than 20.0 points per game for the third time in the NBA).
Even though Grimes showed promise early in his NBA career, Burks and Bogdanovic are two veterans who can step on the court and help the Knicks contend in the Eastern Conference this season.
While more moves could come for both teams before the deadline, let’s get into these trade grades on this specific deal:
HoopsHype ranks the 10 players who have appeared most often in trade rumors over the previous week.
This week saw another huge name come off the board on the NBA trade market as the Toronto Raptors dealt Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Bruce Brown, three-first round picks and more. That means the player who ranked No. 1 in our trade rumor rankings article last week is now off the board.
Don’t worry, though, as we still have plenty of interesting names to talk about on the NBA trade market.
Below, check out the 10 players who have appeared most often in trade rumors over the previous week, based on the number of appearances on our Trade Rumors page.
3 backup wings that make sense for Thunder at trade deadline.
Sitting at 29-13 and in second place in the Western Conference standings, the Oklahoma City Thunder will approach the Feb. 8 trade deadline as buyers for the first time in several years.
The Thunder have broken open a contention window led by MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams round out one of the league’s best trios.
While OKC is not expected to make any blockbuster deals, expect it to possibly make minor upgrades to improve its depth heading into its first playoff appearance since 2020.
In today’s NBA, you can never have too many quality wings. Thunder general manager Sam Presti can strengthen the backup wing spot by targeting low-risk veteran players on bad teams.
The Thunder have plenty of draft capital and young prospects to facilitate any type of deal. Scouring through the league, let’s look at three bench wing options OKC could add.
Should the Lakers, who are hungry for 3-point shooting, make another run at sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic?
The Los Angeles Lakers may be starting to get into a bit of a groove right now. They have a three-game winning streak and have taken six of their last seven contests after their 131-99 dismantling of the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.
But some feel they still need one more piece in order to seriously contend for this season’s NBA championship. There are rumors that the team is in the market for a player that could put it over the top, and many of those rumors surround the Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso.
Months ago, Los Angeles was rumored to be interested in veteran Detroit Pistons sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report feels it should make another run at him and that his cost may be less than that of LaVine.
Via Bleacher Report:
“For starters, the 34-year-old looks totally out of place on the rebuilding Pistons. He’ll escape his prime long before they enter their own, so a split seems best for both parties. Turning him into a draft asset or an upside-rich prospect should be a no-brainer for Detroit’s front office.
“Second, his trade cost shouldn’t be exorbitant. He is a solid player, but not at all a spectacular one, and his current contract has only $2 million guaranteed for next season, per Spotrac. Suitors may only view him as a partial-season rental, and no one is paying a premium for an aging non-star in this situation.
“Finally, his game looks like an effortless fit for this roster. His outside shot (career 39.4 percent) is the best part of his arsenal, but he also has the size to shoot over smaller defenders and the ball skills to slip past bigger ones. He’d be a helpful safety net for L.A.’s stars, spreading the floor when they’re on it or assuming control of the offense when they aren’t.”
Bogdanovic hasn’t played yet this season due to a right calf strain, but last season he averaged a career-high 21.6 points a game while shooting 48.8% overall and 41.1% from 3-point range. Assuming he still has game, he could become a big weapon for Los Angeles and keep the floor spaced in its set offense for LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Outside shooting has been a problem for the Lakers this season. Only LeBron James, D’Angelo Russell and Rui Hachimura are shooting over 35.0% from 3-point land, and as a whole, they’re just 25th in the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage.
Zach LaVine and Pascal Siakam are staying put. Who else doesn’t have to relocate?
The NBA’s trade deadline was one of the most exciting in recent memory, with multiple former MVP winners and several All-Stars moved.
But there were also quite a few players around the league who heard their name in trade rumors over the past few weeks but now return to the same team now that the deadline has passed.
While there were some big moves, some teams (e.g. Raptors and Bulls) were expected to blow it up but decided against it. There were whispers that some big-name players were headed to new homes, but only some actually have to relocate.
These were the 15 best players who were rumored to get traded but will instead stay put for at least the remainder of the season:
After missing out on Kyrie Irving, the Lakers are doing their due diligence on a potential trade as the NBA’s deadline approaches.
Now that trading for Kyrie Irving is off the table after all these months, the Los Angeles Lakers can finally move forward with the monumental task of upgrading a somewhat talented but porous roster with less than 72 hours before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.
They badly need accurate 3-point shooting, and given their recent struggles on the defensive end, they could use some help in that department as well.
If they do make a deal, what type of deal will it be? Will they go for a true big man, a big wing, a small wing or a ball-handling guard?
The Los Angeles Times’ Dan Woike reported the team has several specific players it could be looking to acquire.
Via Los Angeles Times:
“Toronto guards Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr., Atlanta guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, Detroit forward Bojan Bogdanovic (who the Pistons repeatedly have said isn’t available unless they’re blown away by an offer), Charlotte guard Terry Rozier and Utah guard Mike Conley all are viewed as possible trade targets depending on how the market shakes out between now and Thursday.”
None of these players would be ideal additions, although a few could significantly move the needle for L.A.
Both men named Bogdanovic would represent an upgrade in 3-point shooting, even if they wouldn’t add much of anything on the defensive end. Bojan Bogdanovic, in particular, would be a massive improvement in the outside shooting department while giving the team a legitimate third scoring option.
Rozier and VanVleet have been potent guards for the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors, respectively, but their shooting percentages are way down this season, which means they could actually hurt the Lakers in terms of 3-point accuracy.
Conley, who is 35 years of age, appears to be in decline, and his 3-point shooting accuracy has decreased this season.
Trent could be a very nice acquisition for the Lakers, however, as he has a reputation for being a legit 3-and-D player. At 6-foot-5 and 209 pounds, he can play the 3 at times, and he is shooting a respectable 37.3% from downtown on 7.1 attempts a game this year.

A look at the players who could be dealt by Thursday’s NBA trade deadline.
The NBA trade deadline is one week from Thursday, and while it might seem quieter than normal, there could still be a lot of activity.
Even if there isn’t a looming blockbuster move like when the Nets and Sixers swapped James Harden and Ben Simmons last season, there are teams around the league that could have an entirely different roster before the beginning of the All-Star break.
While there are some obvious sellers (e.g. Pistons, Hornets, Spurs, Rockets), others (e.g. Raptors, Pacers, Jazz) have slightly less clear intentions.
Based on the latest rumors and intel provided by insiders around the NBA, these are the players considered most likely to get traded — and where each player is rumored to go.
But remember: The trade deadline is always full of surprises. No one in the league predicted the Kings would have traded Tyrese Haliburton last season! So in addition to these players, expect the unexpected.
The Pistons have been rumored to be willing to trade Bojan Bogdanovic, but he said that they’d perhaps rather keep him past this season.
One of the players most linked to the Los Angeles Lakers as the NBA trade deadline approaches is Detroit Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic.
He’s one of the league’s premier 3-point shooting threats. He’s shooting 41.6% from beyond the arc while taking 5.9 such attempts per game this season.
Bogdanovic is also a legitimate all-around scoring threat: He has a 21.4 points per game average and 48.7% overall shooting percentage this season.
The Pistons have placed a pretty high price tag on Bogdanovic, one the Lakers have reportedly deemed too high. Bogdanovic told HoopsHype the Pistons see him as part of their core past this season.
Via HoopsHype:
“Having conversations with the club, Troy (Weaver), and the owners, they assured me that we’re going to be great next year,” Bogdanovic told HoopsHype. “We have a lot of cap space to sign great players. We’re going to have a high pick again, so that’s going to help us a lot. We have a great young group of guys. When Cade (Cunningham) went down, that kind of hurt us big time. We were thinking that maybe we’d be fighting for the play-in tournament, but when he went down, he was our main guy. All of our offensive strategies were connected to him. When he went down, our season, we’ve had a lot of ups and downs without him.”
The Lakers badly need one or two more 3-point snipers, and if the Pistons were willing to let go of Bogdanovic for a fair price, he would be the ideal type of player to help fill that need.

The Lakers reportedly want to make a deal for sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic, but the Pistons are still asking for a lot in return.
After trading for Washington Wizards forward Rui Hachimura on Monday, the Los Angeles Lakers are a bit deeper, younger and more athletic and physically gifted than they were before. However, they’re not necessarily done making moves.
They continue to be linked to Detroit Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic, a 6-foot-7 veteran forward who is a bona fide 3-point sniper. He is currently averaging 21.5 points per game while shooting 42.3 percent from beyond the arc and 49.1 percent overall.
The Lakers badly need improved 3-point shooting, and he would be perhaps the ideal man to address that weakness, especially given that he attempts 6.0 3-pointers a game this season.
However, the Pistons are reportedly not budging on their high asking price for the 33-year-old sharpshooter.
Via The Athletic:
“Per league sources, as of late January, the Pistons, who have aspirations of turning a corner next season, would need significant value in return to consider moving Bogdanović within the next two weeks, with the minimum starting point being an unprotected first-round pick. Detroit values Bogdanović highly and doesn’t want to move him unless an overwhelming offer makes too much sense.
“Rival teams will continue to call, and the Pistons will continue to listen, but all indications so far are that teams aren’t yet willing to go above and beyond to pry Bogdanović away from the Motor City.”
Los Angeles has been unwilling to give up an unprotected future first-round draft pick in virtually any potential deal. However, it is reportedly willing to give up a lottery-protected first-round pick for Bogdanovic.
Detroit is currently 12-37, which is the worst record in the Eastern Conference, which would make it seem like it would be more willing to jettison someone like Bogdanovic who has two years left on his contract after this one.
He will make $20 million next season and just over $19 million for the 2024-25 campaign.
