Complete contract details, salary cap breakdown for CB Bobby Price

The Cardinals brought back CB Bobby Price on a one-year deal. Here are the full details of the deal.

It has been said there’s very little rest for the weary in the NFL, and that’s especially the case at this time of the year.

The transactions have been in the hundreds around the league in the first week of the 2024 league year and the Arizona Cardinals have been a big part of that.

Eleven players have been re-signed and another eight added that ended the 2023 season on another team. The total includes four players re-signed prior to the official opening of the league year on Wednesday: wide receiver Greg Dortch, defensive end L.J. Collier, linebacker Jesse Luketa and tackle/guard Carter O’Donnell.

Prior to Saturday, we reported on the contract details for 11 players. Cards Wire learned the numbers for another six today, leaving only wide receiver Chris Moore and defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga with unknown figures.

The six are punter Blake Gillikin, long snapper Aaron Brewer, offensive linemen Elijah Wilkinson, Trystan Colon and Keith Ismael and cornerback Bobby Price.

Bobby Price contract, salary cap details

He signed a one-year contract worth $1,292,500 that includes a $25,000 signing bonus. There is a base salary of $1.125 million (the league minimum, none guaranteed) and per-game roster bonuses of $8,382 for a possible total of $142,500.

The salary-cap charge for 2024 is $1.060 million, less than the total cash amount, as it is a qualifying veteran deal.

Price was signed the Cardinals on June 6, 2023, after not being tendered as a restricted free agent by the Lions. He was waived in the cutdown to 53, but was immediately signed to the practice squad. Price played in two games after being elevated from the practice squad and was then signed to the active roster on Oct. 26.

He subsequently suffered a quadriceps injury and was placed on injured reserve Nov. 7 before returning to practice on Dec. 13 and was activated Dec. 30. For the season, he played in six games, had no snaps on defense and participated in 74 percent of the special-teams snaps in the games he played.

During his limited playing time, Price had four special-teams tackles, which tied for fourth on the team.

Cardinals designate CB Bobby Price to return from injured reserve

He has been out since the start of November with a quad injury.

Cornerback Bobby Price could be returning soon for the Arizona Cardinals. On injured reserve since the start of November with a quadriceps injury, the team announced Wednesday that Price was designated to return from IR, opening a 21-day window where he can return to practice and be activated at any point during that time frame.

Price has played in four games this season, exclusively on special teams. He has logged four special teams tackles and a fumble recovery.

The Cardinals currently have five cornerbacks on the roster — Marco Wilson, Antonio Hamilton, Kei’Trel Clark, Garrett Williams and Starling Thomas.

He and offensive lineman Elijah Wilkinson have their practice windows open. Wilkinson is on his third week.

Cardinals elevate CB Bobby Price, RB Damien Williams to play vs. Seahawks

Price played special teams last week and Williams had 36 rushing yards and a catch in Week 6.

The Arizona Cardinals announced a few roster moves on Saturday, leading up to their Week 7 road divisional game against the Seattle Seahawks. In addition to activating safety Budda Baker from injured reserve to return to the starting lineup and rookie cornerback Garrett Williams from the non-football injury reserve, they also elevated a pair of players from the practice squad.

For the second consecutive week, they elevated running back Damien Williams and cornerback Bobby Price.

Last week, against the Los Angeles Rams, Price played 18 snaps on special teams. He had a special teams tackle and recovered a fumble.

Williams played 13 snaps on offense. He had eight rushing attempts for 36 yards and also had one eight-yard reception.

He will likely have a similar role against the Seahawks.

Cardinals announce signing of pair of CBs

They add cornerbacks Dylan Mabin and Bobby Price to the offseason roster.

The Arizona Cardinals began their final week of voluntary OTAs and added a pair of cornerbacks to the roster.

They announced Monday afternoon the signing of cornerbacks Dylan Mabin and Bobby Price.

Mabin is 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds and played collegiately at Fordham. He was an undrafted rookie in 2019 and signed originally with the Raiders. Since then, he has also spent time with the Vikings, Saints and Falcons.

His four career games came in 2020, three with the Vikings and one with the Raiders.

He has two career tackles.

Price is 6-foot-3 and 208 pounds. He spent the last three seasons with the Detroit Lions after he signed with them as an undrafted rookie in 2020 out of Norfolk State.

He has played 22 games, 15 of them in 2021, with 23 total tackles and three pass breakups. Eight of his tackles have been on special teams and he also had a 17-yard reception in 2021 on a fake punt.

The signings give Arizona 91 players on the roster, so there will be need to be a corresponding player cut on Tuesday.

Tommy Kraemer and Bobby Price not tendered contracts by the Lions

Tommy Kraemer and Bobby Price were not tendered contracts by the Lions and are now unrestricted free agents

When the new league year started at 4 p.m., two more Detroit Lions players became free agents. The Lions did not issue the restricted free agency tender offers to OL Tommy Kraemer or CB Bobby Price, making them unrestricted free agents.

Price was a restricted free agent, while Kraemer was an exclusive rights free agent. It only would have taken a one-year contract for the NFL minimum to lock up Kraemer for 2023, but the Lions opted against that course of action.

Price played three seasons in Detroit, beginning in 2020 as an undrafted safety out of Norfolk State. He transitioned to cornerback in 2021 and played 15 games that year, mostly on special teams. Price played in five games in 2022, with just 38 defensive snaps.

Kraemer showed some promise in 2021 as an undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame. But he missed the 2022 season with a back injury and fell out of the Lions’ plans.

Kraemer and Price are now free to sign with any other team without any remaining ties for the Lions.

Lions minicamp notebook, Day 2: Probing the depths of the roster

News and notes from the Detroit Lions mandatory minicamp on Wednesday, June 8th

Wednesday marked Day 2 of Detroit Lions mandatory minicamp. The Lions players rolled through an energetic, solid practice session on a partly sunny and breezy afternoon in Allen Park.

After a more general view on the first day, my focus on Wednesday turned more to the depth players. With the second and third-team units getting a lot of prime action, it turned out to be a very informative practice session.

Lions minicamp notebook: First impressions from opening day

Here’s what I observed from Wednesday’s action at Lions minicamp.

Lions make contract tender offers to 13 exclusive rights free agents

The Detroit Lions make contract tender offers to 13 exclusive rights free agents, including all 3 starting specialists

In a move that is best described as a contractual formality, the Detroit Lions made the required contract tender offers to 13 pending exclusive rights free agents on Wednesday.

Exclusive rights free agents, more commonly known as ERFAs, are players who were on the active roster for just one or two seasons and have an expiring contract. Practice squad players do not count. The players are offered the league-minimum salary for the upcoming season.

The 13 players feature the three starting specialists and several young players who have played quite a bit on special teams:

  • LS Scott Daly
  • P Jack Fox
  • CB Mark Gilbert
  • S JuJu Hughes
  • RB Godwin Igwebuike
  • WR Tom Kennedy
  • G Tommy Kraemer
  • OLB Jessie Lemonier
  • T Matt Nelson
  • K Riley Patterson
  • LB Anthony Pittman
  • CB Bobby Price
  • TE Brock Wright

Not all of the ERFA players were brought back. Detroit did not make offers to three: OLB Rashod Berry, S Jalen Elliott and OL Ryan McCollum. They are now street free agents free to sign with any other NFL team.

4 things to watch for in the Lions Week 13 matchup with the Vikings

Here are a few things to watch for in Sunday’s Week 13 game.

The Detroit Lions will make their latest attempt to notch their first win of the season on Sunday. The Minnesota Vikings come to Ford Field to face the 0-10-1 Lions hoping to bolster their playoff aspirations at 5-6, which is still very much alive in the NFC.

Minnesota won the first meeting 19-17 when kicker Greg Joseph nailed a 54-yard field goal as time expired. What will happen in the rematch in Detroit?

Here are a few things to watch for in Sunday’s Week 13 game.

Lions injury update: Penei Sewell returns to practice, D’Andre Swift remains sidelined

Sewell and WR KhaDarel Hodge were back on Thursday after missing Wednesday’s session with an illness

There was a sigh of relief for Thursday’s Detroit Lions practice in Allen Park. Starting right tackle Penei Sewell returned from his one-day absence and was back in action in the penultimate session of Week 13 preparation.

Sewell and wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge were both back as limited participants after sitting out Wednesday’s practice with an undisclosed illness.

Four Lions remained out, however. When head coach Dan Campbell advised the media early in the week that running back D’Andre Swift wasn’t likely to play, he meant it. Swift remains out with a shoulder injury suffered in the Thanksgiving loss to the Bears. Starting linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin is also sidelined, as are OLB Trey Flowers and CB Bobby Price. Wide receiver Trinity Benson upgraded from limited participant to a full practice.
