It has been said there’s very little rest for the weary in the NFL, and that’s especially the case at this time of the year.
The transactions have been in the hundreds around the league in the first week of the 2024 league year and the Arizona Cardinals have been a big part of that.
Eleven players have been re-signed and another eight added that ended the 2023 season on another team. The total includes four players re-signed prior to the official opening of the league year on Wednesday: wide receiver Greg Dortch, defensive end L.J. Collier, linebacker Jesse Luketa and tackle/guard Carter O’Donnell.
Prior to Saturday, we reported on the contract details for 11 players. Cards Wire learned the numbers for another six today, leaving only wide receiver Chris Moore and defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga with unknown figures.
The six are punter Blake Gillikin, long snapper Aaron Brewer, offensive linemen Elijah Wilkinson, Trystan Colon and Keith Ismael and cornerback Bobby Price.
Bobby Price contract, salary cap details
He signed a one-year contract worth $1,292,500 that includes a $25,000 signing bonus. There is a base salary of $1.125 million (the league minimum, none guaranteed) and per-game roster bonuses of $8,382 for a possible total of $142,500.
The salary-cap charge for 2024 is $1.060 million, less than the total cash amount, as it is a qualifying veteran deal.
Price was signed the Cardinals on June 6, 2023, after not being tendered as a restricted free agent by the Lions. He was waived in the cutdown to 53, but was immediately signed to the practice squad. Price played in two games after being elevated from the practice squad and was then signed to the active roster on Oct. 26.
He subsequently suffered a quadriceps injury and was placed on injured reserve Nov. 7 before returning to practice on Dec. 13 and was activated Dec. 30. For the season, he played in six games, had no snaps on defense and participated in 74 percent of the special-teams snaps in the games he played.
During his limited playing time, Price had four special-teams tackles, which tied for fourth on the team.
