Re-live the 1995 Ohio State win over Notre Dame Saturday at Noon

97.1 the fan will be airing the 1995 Ohio State vs. Notre Dame football game at noon EDT on Saturday, October 10.

One of the most hyped games in Ohio State history came in 1995 when No. 15 ranked Notre Dame came to Columbus for the first of a home and away series with The Fighting Irish.

The Buckeyes cruised to a 45-26 victory on that fine fall afternoon before a then record-breaking crowd of 95,537. It was the first time that the Buckeyes had ever beaten Notre Dame on the football field. Eventual Heisman Trophy winner, Eddie George would rack up 207 yards with two touchdowns against the Irish.

On Saturday, October 10, you can listen to the game in full, as 97.1 the fan in Columbus will be airing a replay of the game hosted by the voice of the Buckeyes, Paul Keels along with Jim Lachey and Skip Mosic. They will also be joined by former OSU quarterback Bobby Hoying, who threw for 272 yards and four TDs in the game, as well as Hall of Fame head coach, John Cooper.

Even if you don’t live in the Columbus area, you can still listen along on the 97.1 The Fan app on your smartphone or just go to 971thefan.com to listen live to re-live some Buckeye glory.

Buckeye Battle Cry series: Best Ohio State football player to wear jersey No. 14

Okay, we’re up to No. 14 in our debate on the best Ohio State football player to ever wear specific jersey numbers. Who did we pick?

We’ve been going through a series here at Buckeyes Wire. It’s a debate on which Ohio State football player is the best to wear specific jersey numbers, and we’re cruising along, now up to jersey No. 14.

Before we get into all the fun, here’s an update on where we stand with the jersey numbers we’ve debated to date:

Jersey No. 1 | Jersey No. 2 | Jersey No. 3 | Jersey No. 4Jersey No. 5Jersey No. 6Jersey No. 7Jersey No. 8Jersey No. 9Jersey No. 10Jersey No. 11Jersey No. 12Jersey No. 13

We’re doing this because while the world is beginning to slowly open, we’re all a little stir crazy from cabin fever due to the measures put in place to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. Thank goodness the world is slowly starting to reopen. Who knew we’d be anticipating a late night/early morning Korean baseball game just to get a look at live sports.

But we digress. In the long, illustrious history of Ohio State football, there is sure to be some disagreement, but that only makes it more fun.

We will continue to keep going along his journey through the summer and will have the results of all of these surveys further down the road.

Okay, Mark, take it away …
