Bill Belichick on how he would try to stop Jayden Daniels

How would Bill Belichick defend Commanders QB Jayden Daniels?

Bill Belichick is arguably the greatest coach in NFL history. With 302 regular-season wins, 31 postseason wins and six Super Bowl championships, Belichick’s resume is impeccable.

Before becoming a head coach, Belichick made his name as a defensive coordinator for the New York Giants under Bill Parcells in the 1980s. He was viewed as a defensive genius. That reputation stayed with him throughout his 24 years as head coach of the Patriots, frustrating legendary quarterbacks like Peyton Manning.

These days, Belichick is a part of the media as a co-host of “Inside the NFL” on The CW along with former NFL players Ryan Clark, Chris Long and Chad Johnson.

On the most recent episode, the crew previewed Sunday’s big Week 6 matchup between the Baltimore Ravens (3-2) and Washington Commanders (4-1). The game features two exciting quarterbacks, two-time MVP Lamar Jackson (Ravens) and rookie sensation Jayden Daniels (Commanders).

Belichick put his coaching hat back on and explained how he’d attempt to slow down Daniels.

That is an excellent breakdown from Belichick. Other teams have tried a similar approach to defending Daniels through the first five weeks but haven’t succeeded. Can the Ravens do that on Sunday?

Bill Belichick said that Davante Adams is not worth trading a second-round pick, proving irony is dead

Says the guy who traded a second for Mohamed Sanu.

Since retiring from coaching this past offseason, Bill Belichick has been a regular among NFL media. It was an expected move. He’s arguably the best NFL head coach of all-time, so it makes sense that outlets want to hear his commentary. But he’s really been ignoring his own coaching history as of late.

That was clear this week as he discussed the Davante Adams trade saga with the Raiders.

Belichick said that he didn’t think any team would trade a second-round pick for Adams despite Adams coming off his fourth straight thousand-yard season. And sure, a second-round pick might be too high of an asking price for Adams given his contract situation, but it was certainly ironic to hear Belichick say that.

https://twitter.com/UnderdogFantasy/status/1844086061565391237

Back in 2019, Belichick and the Patriots traded a second-round pick for then-Falcons receiver Mohamed Sanu. The traded ended up being such a bust for New England that Sanu was gone the following season. And even at Sanu’s best, he was a versatile secondary option at receiver but never a foundational piece. Belichick was willing to give up a second-round pick for that but wouldn’t for Adams.

Irony must be dead.

Owner Jim Irsay responds to Bill Belichick’s brutal Colts roast

Jim Irsay responded to Bill Belichick’s fake crowd noise comments

Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick roasted the Indianapolis Colts on national television Monday night, and Colts owner Jim Irsay has responded.

Belichick was alongside Peyton Manning and Eli Manning on “ManningCast” for the Monday Night Football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.

The legendary coach accused the Colts of pumping in crowd noise at the RCA dome. Belichick indicated he knew what was happening by the crowd noise skipping.

It was another zinger from Belichick, who has delivered a ton of those as an NFL analyst and television personality. Irsay took to X on Tuesday morning and reassured everyone that the Colts organization was not pumping in crowd noise.

“Reminder…”piped-in crowd noise” myth —1000% fictional. And the “skip” was TV broadcast,” Irsay posted. “We get it, though…visiting teams couldn’t believe that 60,000 in an intimate domed stadium could make that much deafening noise! A credit to Colts fans.”

https://twitter.com/JimIrsay/status/1843659528426140033

If anything, this is just a reminder of the rivalry the Colts and Patriots had over the years. It has grown friendlier with many of the players from those days retiring.

Nevertheless, it’s good to see that Belichick hasn’t lost his sense of humor.

Bill Belichick has interesting take on 1-4 start for Bengals

Even Bill Belichick has something to say about the Cincinnati Bengals.

The stunning start for the Cincinnati Bengals even has the attention of names like Bill Belichick.

An elite Joe Burrow-led offense offset by an almost historically bad defense has the Bengals at 1-4 and the talk of NFL circles.

Belichick, appearing on Pat McAfee’s show this week, seemingly agrees the Bengals are by far the best 1-4 team in the league.

“The Bengals are sitting there probably going they’re the best 1-4 team in football but they gotta start putting some wins up soon,” Belichick said. “They obviously gotta play better defense.”

What’s interesting is that Belichick also mentions some key mistakes that have nothing to do with the defense. He also called out, besides the missed field goal against the Baltimore Ravens in overtime, Joe Burrow’s costly fumble that went back for a touchdown during the loss to the Kanas City Chiefs.

Those miscues are why, at least partially, Burrow has done a good job of expressing frustration while also proclaiming that his elite offense needs to be even better.

No matter what Belichick or anybody else has to say, though, the heat on Bengals head coach Zac Taylor won’t stop, especially with players like Tee Higgins giving noteworthy interviews, too.

Bill Belichick really wanted to accuse Peyton Manning and the Colts of pumping in fake crowd noise 17 years ago

He just couldn’t resist.

Bill Belichick was a guest on Monday night’s ManningCast to take in the Week 5 matchup between the Chiefs and Saints. And while Belichick and Peyton Manning have crossed paths many times over the years, the former Patriots head coach just couldn’t resist a chance to roast the Colts.

Even if he was likely making an accusation up.

During the first quarter, Peyton asked Belichick how he was able to simulate the Arrowhead Stadium crowd noise in preparation for playing the Chiefs. But instead of focusing on Arrowhead — the Guinness World Record holder for loudest outdoor crowd roar — Belichick revisited a Colts-related controversy from 2007.

https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1843468667142767060

He said:

“Well, I’ll tell ya, Peyton, the crowd noise there at Arrowhead wasn’t as bad as it was when you guys piped in music at the RCA Dome. And then when the crowd noise skipped, that’s how we knew you were pumping it in.”

Belichick was referring to a 2007 matchup between the Colts and Patriots where the league looked into an accusation that the Colts were pumping in fake crowd noise. The league and CBS both found that the issue was specific to the broadcast — where the crowd audio skipped — and not something people in the stadium were actually hearing.

So, it was a bit odd to hear Belichick make up a part of that story. Now, had he said that to Matt Ryan, he would’ve had a point because the Falcons *did* get caught for pumping in fake noise. Atlanta forfeited a 2016 fifth-round pick for that violation.

The Colts, though, were cleared of wrongdoing.

Bill Belichick to the Jets after Robert Saleh fired? There’s 1 awkward problem with that.

Remember when Bill Belichick resigned from the Jets on a napkin?

OK, yeah yeah yeah sure, the New York Jets firing Robert Saleh before Week 6 means all we’re going to hear about is OMG BILL BELICHICK IS NEXT!

Except you need to know your history to know why this might be … a little awkward.

The year was 2000. On January 4, Belichick was all set to be introduced to the New York media as the newest head coach of the Jets, which was doubly wild because the Jets traded a first-rounder to the New England Patriots for his services.

Then, Belichick famously handed in his resignation written on a napkin, then announced to the reporters gathered that he was resigning.

Now, current Jets owner Woody Johnson didn’t have the team then. Leon Hess had died the year before and the franchise was waiting to see if Johnson or Charles Dolan would purchase them. Johnson got it just days later.

So … would Woody have hard feelings over that move? Guess we’ll see. Here’s speculation from fans and others:

Bill Belichick roasts Peyton Manning and Colts on national television

This Bill Belichick zinger was masterful

Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick hasn’t forgotten about the alleged fake crowd noise being pumped into the RCA Dome during Peyton Manning’s legendary run with the Indianapolis Colts.

When appearing on ManningCast for the Monday Night Football game between the Kansas City Cheifs and New Orleans Saints, Belichick cooked up the perfect roast for Manning and the Colts following a comment about the loud crowd noise at Arrowhead Stadium.

“Well, I’ll tell you, Peyton, the crowd noise there at Arrowhead wasn’t as bad as it was when you guys piped in music at the RCA Dome. When the crowd noise skipped, that’s how we knew when you were pumping it in,” said Belichick.

It was a zinger for the ages for Belichick, who seems to be growing more comfortable as a television personality. Honestly, this might be the most fun version of Belichick we have ever seen.

A Taylor Swift crowd shot inspired Bill Belichick to sass Travis Kelce on the ManningCast

A sassy Bill Belichick is the best Bill Belichick.

The ManningCast virtually took in Monday night’s Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints game, which music superstar Taylor Swift attended to support her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

During Bill Belichick’s latest ManningCast appearance, one of the ESPN game cameras cut to a shot of Swift cheering Kelce on in one of the Arrowhead Stadium suites.

The ManningCast went silent when Swift hit the screen until Belichick let out a playful “Ugh!” before delivering a perfectly smarmy reaction at Kelce’s expense.

“Big first half for Kelce, too big, too big,” Belichick quipped to laughter from Peyton and Eli Manning.

Well, if that isn’t the most pricelessly awkward moment of NFL broadcasting we’ll see this week, we’re not sure what is.

Bill Belichick gives his take on Sean Payton’s sideline exchange with Bo Nix

“I think it’s probably in that situation a good healthy exchange,” Bill Belichick said of Bo Nix’s heated moment with Sean Payton.

Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix had a heated exchange with coach Sean Payton during the team’s big 34-18 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon.

Nix and Payton have both downplayed the incident, and former NFL coach Bill Belichick has now chimed in with his take.

“I think that’s just part of coaching,” Belichick said during his Monday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. “Things happen during the game that are not personal, they’re just reactionary sometimes by the player, sometimes by the coach. I think you’ve got two guys right there that have worked really hard, that are really committed to winning. You can see the progress that they’ve made over the last five weeks and, honestly, these rookie quarterbacks are starting to … make an impression on the league, at least with me.

“Nix got off to a little bit of a slow start [and Payton] hung with him. Sean coaches the players hard and he gets on them and sometimes the players kick back a little bit and sometimes they don’t, but that’s part of it. I think it’s probably in that situation a good healthy exchange.”

Payton said during his Monday conference call with reporters that he loved Nix’s competitive, fiery response on the sideline.

“We’re in the business of passion,” Payton said, via Andrew Mason of DenverSports.com. “We’re looking for passion, and we’re looking for people that have passion for the game, not other things. And I think that it’s so important to him. And so, yeah, again, I loved his response. And we’re on to the next play, and it’s nothing.”

All good between the coach and quarterback.

ManningCast to feature legendary Saints QB vs. Chiefs

The Saints vs. Chiefs “ManningCast” has a strong guest list, with legendary former Saints quarterback Archie Manning among them:

The Kansas City Chiefs versus New Orleans Saints matchup in Week 5 will be featured as a “ManningCast” game on ESPN2, scheduled for 7:13 p.m. CT/8:13 p.m. ET. The guest list for this week’s broadcast group makes it worth watching. Peyton and Eli Manning will sit down with theeir father, Saints legend Archie Manning. He’s also the father of Cooper Manning and grandfather of Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning.

Additionally, it will include legendary former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, and actor Paul Rudd, a Chiefs superfan and the narrator of the 2007 season of “Hard Knocks,” which featured the Chiefs as well.

Having this group together will be an interesting dynamic, as Eli Manning will be able to talk with Belichick about the two Super Bowl victories he had against him. The Manning family will primarily be together on broadcast, and we can get perspective from Rudd about the Chiefs and his fandom as well. The “ManningCast” always has some fun broadcast groups and guests, but this one will be a fun one no doubt.
