See where Michigan State lands in our final Big Ten football power rankings of the 2022 season

The massively disappointing 2022 season in East Lansing, Mich. is officially over.

Michigan State football entered the season with high expectations of potentially contending for a Big Ten East Division title and instead failed to reach bowl eligibility with a final record of 5-7. The Spartans had some highlights in the season, including wins over Illinois and Wisconsin, but it was otherwise a very rough year.

With Michigan State’s season over, we will do one batch of final Big Ten power rankings before turning our focus completely to basketball. See where the Spartans land in our conference final power rankings below:

Who is at the top after Week 12?

After wild Week 12 in the Big Ten that saw a number of near upsets, Wisconsin pulling out a late victory at Nebraska to become bowl eligible, and a number of crazy finishes, the dust is settling on the regular season.

See where Michigan State lands in our updated power rankings after their embarrassing loss against Indiana on Saturday

It really doesn’t get much worse than what we witnessed at Spartan Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Big Ten football power rankings after week 9: Collision course set.

We reassess what things look like with our updated power rankings after Week 9 in the Big Ten. #GoBucks

Here we go again. Another week down in the Big Ten and it’s still looking like Ohio State and Michigan are on a collision course after the Buckeyes used a dominant fourth quarter to beat Penn State and the Wolverines took care of the Spartans in a slow, methodical business-like game at home.

Outside of that, it sure is looking like Illinois has the inside track to win the West after disposing of Nebraska soundly while all of the others in the division are more inconsistent than a politician’s stance on an important issue.

After each week we reassess what happened in the heartland and try to make sense of what the pecking order is in the Big Ten and so it is after Week 9. We’re about to hit November when championship teams are forged.

It was a quiet week on the banks of the Red Cedar River, but there was plenty of other action in the Big Ten.

Michigan State was one of four Big Ten teams on a bye this week so there wasn’t much movement in the power rankings for the Spartans. But how their next game plays out at Michigan surely will shift the Spartans either up or down depending on the result.
