C.J. Stroud named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

As if there was any question … #GoBucks

Week 6 was another offensive symphony for the Ohio State football team, and as usual, the conductor of the whole thing was quarterback C.J. Stroud.

The redshirt sophomore completed 21-of-26 passes for 361 yards and six touchdowns in a 49-20 win over Michigan State. It was the third time Stroud threw six touchdowns in a game, and that’s the first time that’s ever been done in the Big Ten.

For his exploits, Stroud was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, his second time this season receiving the honor. He was also honored after the performance vs. Toledo. It’s the fourth time in four weeks an Ohio State player has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, the other two coming from Miyan Williams last week and Marvin Harrison Jr after Week 2 and the contest vs. Arkansas State.

Ohio State is now in its bye week and will rest and get healthy before hosting an Iowa team that is struggling mightily on offense, but a team that will test the OSU offense like perhaps no other team has so far this year.

Marvin Harrison Jr named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Congrats to Harrison Jr! Something tells us it won’t be the last time he’s honored by the Big Ten. #GoBucks

You had a feeling Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr was going to break out this season, and it looks like it’s starting to happen. Some of it may have to do with OSU’s No. 1 receiver, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, being out with an injury, but the skill set and pedigree he possesses usually translates into stardom.

And now, for his efforts last week against Arkansas State, Harrison Jr has been named the Big Ten’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week, along with Maryland quarterback Tualia Tagovailoa.

All Harrison Jr did against the Red Wolves was catch seven passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-12 Ohio State win. It was the second time the son of Hall of Famer, Marvin Harrison, tallied three scores, the other coming in the Rose Bowl in January.

It’s the first Big Ten Player of the Week honor for Harrison Jr, but don’t be surprised to see more of them coming through the rest of his career. It’s the first time an OSU player has been honored by the Big Ten in its weekly awards so far this year.

Grant named Big Ten co-Offensive Player of the Week

The Husker running back does something a Nebraska player hasn’t done since 2018.

Nebraska running back Anthony Grant was named the ‘Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. The Junior ran 23 times for 189 yards and two touchdowns in the Cornhuskers’ 38-17 win over North Dakota on Saturday. He shares this week’s honor with Penn State Quarterback Sean Clifford.

Grant is the first Husker to win Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week since Devine Ozigbo during the 2018 season. He transferred to Nebraska from the New Mexico Military Institute, where he ran for 2,549 yards and 28 touchdowns for two seasons, averaging 7.1 yards per carry. At least the Big Ten got it right.

After being snubbed for the Walker Camp national offensive player of the week on Sunday, Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III received the recognition he deserved by the Big Ten on Monday. Walker was named the conference’s offensive player of the week.

Walker rushed for 264 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Spartans to a week one victory over Northwestern. It was Walker’s first game as a Spartan.

J.K. Dobbins announced as B1G Offensive Player of the Week

The Buckeyes put a beatdown on Michigan, and J.K. Dobbins put up a performance worthy of being dubbed the B1G Offensive Player of the Week.

The Buckeyes put a beatdown on Michigan, and J.K. Dobbins put up a performance worthy of being dubbed the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.

That performance resulted in the third-year running back ending with a career-high 211 yards and four touchdowns. This has been Dobbins fourth time as a B1G Offensive Player of the Week just this season alone.

Dobbins was an absolute game-changer, rushing for 6.8 yards per carry. With both Ohio State touchdowns in the second quarter, Dobbins had three scores in the first half alone.

He capped off the Buckeyes dominant, 29-point victory with the team’s last fourth-quarter touchdown as well.

The junior back is looking like the best in college football. He’s also one of the best in Ohio State history, moving into second all-time in rushing yards, passing Ezekiel Elliott.

Both three-year backs, Dobbins is arguably the dominant back to ever come through Columbus. That is not said lightly, and Dobbins’ performances do back up the claim.

Dobbins is continuing his bid as a first-round pick in the ever-nearing NFL Draft. He could top 2,000 all-purpose yards with 143 in the Big Ten Championship Game this Saturday.
