Big Ten football power rankings after Ohio State vs. Michigan result, end of regular season

How we stack things up after the dust has settled on the regular season in the #B1G.

The college football calendar has officially flipped to the end of the regular season and with it, another fun and wild Big Ten slate of games. It all came to a crescendo with Michigan’s third-straight win over its bitter rival, Ohio State on Saturday.

We now have an entire season to judge where Big Ten teams fall in our latest power rankings of the regular season. Things at the top mostly remain the same, but the middle has always been like watching a tennis match with wins and losses being volleyed back and forth. Iowa did indeed find just enough offense to win the West, while teams like Wisconsin, Northwestern, Maryland, and Penn State all ended up becoming bowl-eligible.

Here’s one final look at our Big Ten football power rankings after all the dust has settled on the 2023 college football regular season. Now, off to conference championship games and the postseason.

Big Ten football power rankings after Week 12: The stage is set.

Another shuffling of the order after last week as the stage is set for a massive matchup Saturday in the Big Ten. #B1G

As it seems to always do, the 2023 college football season has flown by. There’s just one week to go in the regular season, and there’s still a lot up for grabs, namely the Big Ten East division crown with the titanic matchup between Ohio State and Michigan on Saturday.

The Buckeyes beat Minnesota handily, while the Wolverines survived an upset bid by Maryland in College Park. Those two teams have been on top of our power rankings almost all season, but there are many more story lines in the conference with Northwestern becoming bowl-eligible (surprise), Iowa nailing down the West division with little to no offense and bunch of others looking to still get another win to get bowl eligible.

After another week of action, we have a pretty good indication of what teams are in the top four. From there, it’s a mess — as it has been all season.

Here’s where are Big Ten football power rankings stand with one week to go in the regular season. Will it be Ohio State or Michigan?

Big Ten football power rankings after Week 11: And then there were two.

An updated look at our Big Ten power rankings after Ohio State and Michigan keep their winning ways going. #B1G

OK college football and Ohio State fans, there’s only a couple of weeks left in the regular season, which means the stakes are high from here on out for the teams at the top of the rankings and standings.

Yes, that includes YOUR Ohio State Buckeyes, and it also includes the Michigan Wolverines, unfortunately (you can hear the collective sigh from the entire country).

This weekend showed everyone there’s a clear line between the top two teams in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes and Wolverines look every bit the part of two of the best teams in the country. Below that though, it sure is a muddled mess. Penn State is still really good but not in the same class as the two giants of the league, and Iowa seems to be the team in the West that might make it through all of the inconsistency and muck in that division.

Now that we are 11 weeks into the season, it’s time to look at how our Big Ten football power rankings look as we hit the last two weeks of the regular season.

Big Ten football power rankings after Week 10: Still a three-team heat.

How did our Big Ten football power rankings change after Week 10? #GoBucks

The sands in the hourglass are beginning to run out in the 2023 college football season, and that means the games from here on out are going to take on more meaning with stakes that get higher and higher every week. The Big Ten race is no exception.

The East division seems pretty clear. Ohio State and Michigan are on top, with Penn State a game behind because of the loss in Columbus. All three won again on Saturday. One of the three big dogs of the league appears to be destined for the conference crown, with one or two having a shot to get into the College Football Playoff.

Meanwhile, the West couldn’t be messier. Iowa won a close one against Northwestern, but Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin lost. That means the Hawkeyes are in the driver’s seat again, but it’s a seat where the upholstery is hanging by a thread.

So, what does it all mean for our Big Ten power rankings this week? Here’s a look at who’s playing the best right now after Week 10 as we count down from last to first.

Big Ten football power rankings after Week 9: The case for Ohio State and Michigan.

Good luck figuring out the middle to bottom of this league. For now though, is it Ohio State or Michigan on top? #B1G

We’re now nine weeks through the college football season and it’s becoming increasingly clear what the top of the Big Ten looks like. Ohio State and Michigan appear to be the class of the league again, but which team should get the nod as the best team to date?

Penn State is right behind those two, but all of a sudden the offense that looked so efficient has started to bump and grind a little. The Nittany Lions needed some late magic to get by Indiana in Happy Valley. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess which teams will win on an almost weekly basis.

Northwestern has gotten off the mat to move to .500. The Maryland Terps are heading in the wrong direction once again since Big Ten play started, and there’s questions on Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State and others.

So, after yet another weekend of an interesting week in the Big Ten, how does our Big Ten football power rankings shake out? Is there a change at the top, and what about the middle to back end?

We do our best to sort it all.

Big Ten football power rankings after Week 8: A new team in the top spot?

Hey, hey, there’s a new team on the top. Has this weekend changed your mind at all about the trio of Big Ten teams on top? #B1G

Before the start of the 2023 season, the thought was the Big Ten was top heavy with Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan leading the way. So far this year, that has rung true, but the order of the three still needs to sort itself out.

We had a big game in Columbus between the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions that went a long way in figuring that out, but the Wolverines still have to travel to State College, so hold the phone.

Aside from those three, the Big Ten has looked a lot like a youth soccer game with all of the teams kind of bunched in the same spot as play unfolds. It’s really anyone’s guess which teams end up on top at the end in the Big Ten West, and where the teams line up behind the aforementioned trio in the conference as a whole.

Undaunted, we do our best to try and figure out the pecking order with our Big Ten football power rankings after each week, and we’re ready to try and make sense of it all after another interesting slate of games.

Here’s how we see things now with a new team taking the top spot after Week 8. We’re sure it’ll change again next week with how unpredictable this conference has been.

Big Ten football power rankings after Week 7: Who is REALLY No. 1?

Did Ohio State make a move at all in our weekly power rankings after the dominating performance vs. Purdue. What about Michigan, Penn State, and others? #B1G

Another week of Big Ten football is in the books, and Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State continue to look like the top teams in the league and in the country. Those three teams have been on top of our weekly power rankings since the beginning of the season, just in a different order, and it’s no surprise that all three are still hanging around the top.

Aside from that, Iowa looked very strong against a Wisconsin team with a win that gives the Hawkeyes the inside track to Indy in the West division, Maryland had a surprisingly bad showing against Illinois, and almost everything else went according to script. Rutgers beat Michigan State and some others took a week off.

All of it has led to a little change in our Big Ten power rankings. Here’s how we see things after the midpoint of the season post Week 7.

Big Ten football power rankings after Week 6: A pretender is exposed

Our updated look at the Big Ten football power rankings after Week 6. Where is Ohio State after this week’s win over Maryland?

Believe it or not, we are approaching the midpoint of the college football season, and so far, it has been another entertaining one. The Big Ten is among the best conferences in the country this year with Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan appearing in the top 10. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess as to what teams emerge.

Teams such as Iowa and Wisconsin have had their moments, while Minnesota and Illinois have been going in the wrong direction. What we thought we knew at the beginning of the year has changed a little bit and will continue to do so with all the observations we can take from the games that are played on our favorite high resolution television or streaming device.

On that note, it’s time to look at our new Big Ten football power rankings after Week 6. There were a few teams on an off week, but there was still enough to try and formulate the pecking order in the conference.

Here’s how things shake out after this weekend’s set of games.

Big Ten Power Rankings: Spartans continue to drop after third straight loss

It was another tough Saturday for the Spartans…

Losing has become commonplace for the Spartans the last few weeks, and that reality doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.

Michigan State dropped its third straight game on Saturday, losing a heart-breaker at Iowa. The Spartans outplayed the Hawkeyes for most of the game but costly turnovers and a late Iowa punt return for a touchdown led to the Michigan State loss.

Some will ask if the Spartans are the worst team in the Big Ten. For now, I don’t think that’s the case. But how low is Michigan State then?

Big Ten football power rankings after Week 5: A fourth team emerges

Ohio State was off this week, but there was still plenty of action to help us sort out the updated Big Ten Football power rankings after Week 5. #B1G

Now that we are five complete weeks into the college football season, we’re starting to see some separation in the Big Ten. And while we expected teams like Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State to be really good, there have been some surprises — both pleasant and not so pleasant.

Michigan State is having an awful time both on and off the field, Iowa can’t find offense yet again, and Wisconsin is kind of just hanging around. Still, we have a much better idea of which teams are going to have a say in the Big Ten race, and we have adjusted our weekly Big Ten power rankings accordingly.

Ohio State was off on Week 5 but the Wolverines, Nittany Lions, and yes — the Maryland Terrapins looked dominant again. With all that we saw after another week of the greatest game on Earth, here’s how our updated Big Ten football power rankings now look.
