Stephen A. Smith apologizes for saying Rihanna ‘ain’t Beyonce’

This didn’t go over well.

Stephen A. Smith knows he messed up.

While appearing on Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talk show to promote his new book, the ESPN personality was asked about Rihanna performing at the upcoming Super Bowl.

You could tell a take was coming as he fiddled with his tie. Then: “She’s a lot of things, she’s spectacular, actually … There’s one thing she’s not: She ain’t Beyonce.”

The crowd’s reaction said it all. And apparently, Rihanna fans weren’t happy — both in person and online — about him comparing the star to anyone, even a legend like Beyonce.

So Smith took to Twitter and apologized for what he said

Russell Westbrook appeared to celebrate using his player option by singing Beyonce in his car

You won’t break his soul.

Beyonce’s Break My Soul might be on its way to Song of the Summer status — and rightfully so, it’s so good — and maybe Russell Westbrook will help with that.

On Tuesday morning, the Los Angeles Lakers point guard who’s had a rough year on the court and has been fending off critics calling him “Westbrick” posted a photo of himself singing along to the song. The English major in me is reading very much into him singing “you won’t break my soul,” especially because a little while later, news dropped from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowsi that the guard would exercise his option to return to the Lakers.

In the process, he’ll make $47.1 million this year.

That’s a good reason to sing.

Beyoncé and Drake are bringing all the ‘oontz, oontz’ vibes for the summer and fans are here for it

Everyone liked Beyoncé’s oontz a bit better than Drake’s, but it’s all fun

Man. 2022 has been the year of unexpected stuff coming back into pop culture. Baggy clothes, Air Jordan 2s, the Tootsie Roll. We’re living in wild times, y’all.

Now, the “oontz, oontz” music is back in full effect, too.

Y’all know what I’m talking about. House music. Club music. The music that sounds like somebody just added a bunch of synths and some piano keys to your heartbeat after you just had a mean cardio session at the gym for the first time in 3 months.

That’s what our music this summer is going to sound like thanks to Beyoncé and Drake. The two pop stars dropped music over the last few days featuring that signature sound and it was pretty shocking.

Drake dropped an entire album called Honestly, Nevermind featuring 13 tracks of all the oontz.

Then, heading into Tuesday night, Beyoncé dropped a new single called “Break My Soul” from her new album coming in late July. The vibes were immaculate. It featured that oontz with some signature New Orleans bounce and even had a Big Freedia feature.

This was the vibe.

Like I said, immaculate. Between these two powerhouses, this different sound had everyone hyped.

Folks liked Beyoncé’s bounce a little bit (a lot) more, but the point still stands. The oontz is here for the summer and we’re all here for it.

UFC fighter accidentally gets Beyoncé ‘Halo’ as walk-up music, starts singing along anyway

“Is this [expletive] ‘Halo?'” Perry asked to his corner as they walked out.

Mike Perry was walking into his UFC 255 bout on Saturday night when an unexpected song started blaring over the loudspeakers.

“Is this [expletive] ‘Halo?'” Perry asked to his corner as they walked out.

It was indeed the track “Halo” by Beyoncé. Somehow, Perry’s first choice for walk-up song hadn’t been available, so they went with a dreamy slow jam for him to enter to.

Perry didn’t let that phase him, however. He leaned into the moment, and started belting out the words along with the song just before the official checked him in. The man went for it, and we should applaud him for that.

Perry ended up losing a decision to Tim Means in their welterweight fight, and I’m not sure if we should be blaming Beyoncé for that or not.

Steph Curry’s daughter crushed Beyonce’s ‘Black Is King’ dance routine

Ridiculously impressive.

Steph Curry’s daughter Riley Curry wowed on Instagram with her extremely impressive version of Beyonce’s ‘Black Is King’ dance routine. Riley also had strong work from her supporting cast, Ryan Curry, Steph’s youngest daughter.

Ayesha Curry, Steph’s wife, posted a video of Riley dancing in the back of a pickup truck on Instagram Saturday. Riley, who is just eight years old, seems to have the routine down to a T — Beyonce would probably be proud.

A little Saturday inspiration. 🖤 My baby girls. They are LOVING ‘Black Is King’,” Ayesha wrote in the Instagram caption.

Here’s a look at the video, which is making rounds on the internet.

So amazing.

Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce broke the internet with the Savage remix

Beyonce and Megan Thee Stallion break the internet.

Beyonce could literally take a video of her breathing and the internet would go crazy. She’s just…Beyonce. That’s how this thing works.

But when you add Megan Thee Stallion to the equation and put the two on a song together? Nah, the internet is done for. It’s cooked.

That’s what happened yesterday. We were just minding our business when, all of a sudden, Beyonce and Meg decided to break Twitter by dropping a “Savage” remix.

The song was already a viral sensation because of the TikTok dance that it came with. But once Beyonce hopped on the track? It took things to another level.

Their song took over the internet yesterday and hasn’t stopped since. People are still going crazy over it.

Fam, there’s already a TikTok dance for this thing. It ain’t even been 24 hours. The girl who made the original Savage dance did her thing for the remix.

Unbelievable. All everyone wants to know is when we’ll all finally be able to turn up at the first function to this song. Fall 2021, I guess? Get them knees ready.

The best part? Proceeds from the track’s streams reportedly are going to charity. In an Instagram post, Meg said all proceeds go to Bread of Life Houston where families are being provided meals during the pandemic.

Shoutout to Beyonce and Meg for putting their collective foot on our necks and on coronavirus at the same time. We stan our pandemic fighting queens. In all seriousness, salute to them for making the internet a brighter place for a while in the middle of all this madness. We really needed this moment.

LeBron James promises Blue Ivy Carter an autographed basketball

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James promised a gift to Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter after scoring a big win over the Clippers on Sunday.

After LeBron James delivered another MVP-level performance on Sunday to cap off an incredible weekend for he and the Los Angeles Lakers, beating the Bucks on Friday and the Clippers yesterday, James made time for another assist after the game that was caught on cameras nearby.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers in scoring with 30 points and eight rebounds while James had a masterful complete game of 28 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in the win. And although many believed it already, this weekend left little doubt that the Lakers have the league’s best duo in James and Davis. Following the performance, LeBron went to go chop it up with his old pal Jay-Z, who was watching the game with his daughter, Blue Ivy.  Blue Ivy wanted a signed basketball from James and wanted her father to ask LeBron, but LeBron made sure that she had to ask for it herself. James then promised her she would get a signed basketball after school on Monday.

About a year ago, LeBron’s move to Los Angeles didn’t look very good. A year later, we are seeing why LeBron made the right choice, indeed.

Since his death at age 41, the nation …

Since his death at age 41, the nation has mourned the loss of the NBA Hall of Famer, who was an 18-time All-Star and 15-time member of the All-NBA Team. Bryant, Collins said, was one of his favorite professional basketball players. “I loved what he brought to the game,” he said. Collins, who has built customized designer caskets for roughly a decade over his 47 years, said social media led to what he called this humbling assignment. Through social networking, he said, a friend of Bryant’s family reached out to ask if Collins could create some type of memorial art to honor Kobe and the other victims.
