Bulls-Bucks: Key injuries

Bulls: PF Cristiano Felicio (wrist) will be sidelined until early January, while SF Otto Porter Jr. (foot) is out indefinitely.

Prediction

Bucks 110, Bulls 103

Moneyline (ML)

PASS. The Bucks (-770) are overwhelming favorites for this one, and while they’re expected to win, it will be interesting to see how they adjust to life without Middleton for a few weeks. The Bulls (+525) look to spring the upset, but they still have to contend with defending MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, and that’s no easy feat.

New to sports betting? Every $1 wagered that Milwaukee wins profits $0.13 if the Bucks prevail. (Ex: Bet $10 to win $1.30, $20 to win $2.60, $77 to win $10).

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

I am ‘bullish’ on the visiting BULLS (+12.5, –125), who are 4-1 ATS in their past five trips to Cream City. The road team is also 10-1 ATS in the past 11 meetings in this series, a trend also pointing to Chicago.

The Bulls are just 2-5 ATS in the past seven on the road, and they’re 1-8 ATS in the past nine Central Division battles. The Bucks are 3-9 ATS in the past 12 when allowing 100 points or more in their previous game. And, remember the Middleton factor.

Over/under (O/U)

The UNDER 232.5 (-115) is worth a look, going 4-1 in Chicago’s past five road outings, and seven of their past 10 Central Division battles. The under is 7-0 in Milwaukee’s past seven when working on three or more days of rest, too.

Prediction

76ers 105, Magic 93

Moneyline (ML)

The Sixers are coming off an all-too-close 98-97 home win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. They improved to 4-0 at home with the victory but they now hit the road at 3-3. They’ve won two games in a row after previously beating the Charlotte Hornets 114-106. Philadelphia outscores the opposition by an average of 109.7-105.3 points per game.

The Magic are stuck in 13th in the Eastern Conference following last year’s surprising playoff berth. They’re 0-4 on the road but a respectable 3-3 on home court; however, they dropped a 109-102 decision to the Indiana Pacers at home Sunday. They’ve played tight games but have been outscored by an average of 99.3-98.1.

Philadelphia may be the tired team on the second half of a back-to-back with travel, but it’s also the far deeper team. Star PF Al Horford rested Tuesday, ensuring he’ll be ready to go Wednesday night with Embiid out of the lineup. Take plus money with the 76ers at +110 for the outright win.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Sixers fetches an $11 profit with a straight-up victory.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The 76ers are 5-4 against the spread overall and 3-2 as the visitors. The Magic are 3-6 ATS overall and just 2-3-1 at home. Side with PHILADELPHIA to cover a spread of just +2.5 with -115 odds. The same $10 bet returns a profit of $8.70.

The Magic are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record. The Sixers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS loss and 4-0 ATS in their last four Wednesday games.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Magic are the worst Over team in the league with a record of 2-7-1 against the projected totals and they fall an average of 10.6 points shy of the projected totals. The Sixers are 5-5 against the O/U but still fall 2.4 points shy of the projection on average.

Take the UNDER 206.5 (-115) with Philadelphia coming in without rest. This is its first back-to-back situation of the year.

Warriors-Lakers odds: LA Lakers big home favorites

Previewing Wednesday’s Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers sports betting odds, with NBA matchup analysis, picks and tips.

The Golden State Warriors (2-9) visit the Los Angeles Lakers (8-2) Wednesday at Staples Center for a 10 p.m. ET start. Warriors at Lakers: Key injuries

Warriors

  • PG Stephen Curry (hand) out
  • SG Damion Lee (hand) out
  • SG Jacob Evans (hip) out
  • PF Omari Spellman (ankle) doubtful

Lakers

Warriors at Lakers: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 11:20 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Lakers 120, Warriors 112

Moneyline (ML)

The -500 line for the home LAKERS is very low but they are 4-1 at home facing a Warriors just 1-4 on the road. There is also the concern of the Lakers having played in Phoenix last night.

Golden State allows 121.2 points per game and can barely muster 110 points for per night. Even with PF Anthony Davis out, Golden State winning in Los Angeles is tough to see.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the LAKERS to win outright returns a profit of $2.00. It’s very chalky, but Golden State has a low chance of winning.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The WARRIORS (+10.5, -129) is the play here. A Warriors cover (lose by 10 or fewer points or win outright) returns a profit of $7.75.

The Lakers are 7-3 against the spread overall and 4-1 ATS at home while covering the spread by 2.2 points per game. Golden State is 3-2 ATS on the road while being right around projections (minus-0.5 points per game). The concern with Golden State is the games can get away from them late. The loss of Davis for Los Angeles combined with the back end of a back-to-back makes the Warriors a reasonable pick with the points.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 219.5 (-115) is where we lean Wednesday. LeBron James and Co. may give up a few more points than usual on the back end of a back-to-back and Golden State’s porous defense should keep those points coming.

At these odds, a $10 bet still returns a profit of $8.70.

Prediction

Rockets 121, Clippers 115

Moneyline (ML)

The -110 line for the home ROCKETS is reasonable given the matchup. Houston is 3-1 at home this season and 5-0 against the Western Conference. Los Angeles is only 1-2 on the road.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the ROCKETS to win outright returns a profit of $9.09.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The ROCKETS (+1.5, -121) are the play here. A Houston cover (lose by no more than one point or win outright) returns a profit of $8.26.

Los Angeles is 1-2 against the spread on the road and covers the spread by an average of 2.2 points per game while Houston is 1-3 ATS at home and covers by 5.4 points per game. Houston has the ability to win this game outright.

The moneyline remains the more profitable play.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 231.5 (-110). There are just better choices in some of the other NBA games tonight. Expect the pace to be high, but it may come down to some free throws late in the fourth quarter.

Wizards-Celtics odds: Boston a large home favorite

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9:00 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Celtics 119, Wizards 103

Moneyline (ML)

The -400 line for the home CELTICS seems of little concern as Boston has won eight straight games. That includes a 4-0 mark in Boston with several convincing wins.

It is unlikely the Wizards can win with a +310 line and 1-3 road record. Washington has an average scoring margin of minus-4.1 points per game.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the CELTICS to win outright returns a profit of $2.50. It’s very chalky, but it’s better than trying to win with Washington.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The CELTICS -9.5 (+100) is the play here. A Boston cover (win by 10 or more points) returns a profit of $10.

Washington is 3-1 against the spread on the road and covers the spread by 4.8 points per game while Boston is 3-1 ATS at home and covers by 4.5 points per game. Washington has the ability to stay close but Boston has the shooting to put this game away.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over/Under is set at 224.5 (O: -106, U: -115). With Washington allowing nearly 118 points per game, the lean is to side on the Under as the Wizards likely struggle to get to 105. AVOID.

Trail Blazers-Kings odds: Sacramento spotted a few points

Trail Blazers at Kings: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Trail Blazers 113, Kings 110

Moneyline (ML)

The -139 line for the visiting TRAIN BLAZERS is encouraging given they are 4-6 and yet 3-3 on the road. Also, Sacramento has won just one of its four home games.

Can Sacramento keep up with Portland? That answer seems to be yes as expectations of a close game are quite likely. This game opened up dead even and only slightly tilted toward Portland being a favorite.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Trail Blazers to win outright returns a profit of $7.19.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The slightly better play for this game is taking the TRAIL BLAZERS with the -1.5 points at -121 odds. A Portland cover here (win by two or more points) returns a nicer profit of $8.26.

Portland is 4-2 on the road ATS (5-4-1 overall). Sacramento is 1-3 at home ATS and is 4.9 points off the projections due to a few bad performances. The Kings have improved their pace of play lately, however.

Over/Under (O/U)

The idea is to take the UNDER 221.5 (+105). There is a risk as the two teams combine to produce just 220 points per game. Sacramento yields a bit over 111 points a contest, while Portland gives up 114.6 points per game. Since those two numbers add up just about to 225.5, it makes us hesitant, so bet lightly on the under tonight.

Nets at Jazz: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Jazz 115, Nets 105

Moneyline (ML)

The -250 line for the JAZZ at home is not outrageous. Utah is 5-0 at home in the early going where the Nets are just 1-3 on the road.

Utah allows just 98.1 points per game on the season. Brooklyn scores at nearly 120 points per night. That is quite a contrast in styles. Utah can adapt better than Brooklyn and play much better defense.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Jazz to win outright returns a profit of $4.00. It’s a touch chalky, but it’s better than risking this on a Brooklyn (+200) team that has trouble keeping teams from scoring.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The better play for this tilt is taking the JAZZ with the -6.5 points at -110 odds. A Utah cover here at those odds produces a tidy $9.09 profit – doubling the moneyline outcome.

Brooklyn is 1-3 against the spread on the road and is 7.2 points off projections which makes a Utah cover more likely. Utah is 3-2 ATS at home and exactly six points per game above the cover line.

Over/Under (O/U)

Let’s take the OVER 217.5 (-125). Yes, Utah can clamp down on defense but Brooklyn’s defense is bad enough to push totals up.

Cavaliers at 76ers: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10:20 a.m. ET.

Prediction

76ers 115, Cavaliers 105

Moneyline (ML)

The -715 line for the home 76ERS is a bit of a concern but they are 3-0 at home in the early going despite some wild movement on the betting lines. They have even come in above the projections.

Can Cleveland cover as the underdog seems to be the question? It is unlikely the Cavaliers win outright with a +500 line. This is not impossible, but it would take a poor shooting performance by Philadelphia.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the 76ERS to win outright returns a profit of $1.40. It’s very chalky, but it’s better than trying to win with Cleveland.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The CAVALIERS +11.5 (+105) is the play here. A Cleveland cover (lose by no more than 11 points) returns a profit of $10.50.

Cleveland is 3-2 on the road ATS and 7.9 points per game on the cover while Philadelphia is 2-1 ATS at home and 5.8 points per game above projections. Cleveland has the ability to keep this game close enough.

Over/Under (O/U)

This is a bit rare, but the Over/Under of 216.5 (-106, -115) is one to pass on here. There are just better choices in some of the other NBA games tonight. Philadelphia-Cleveland is a game that could go either way and one call could make a difference. AVOID!

Knicks at Bulls: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9:55 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Knicks 103, Bulls 98

Moneyline (ML)

The Bulls are just 1-3 at home while the Knicks are 1-5 on the road. New York’s minus-10.1 average point differential is the worst in the NBA as it’s outscored 109.3-99.2 on average. The Bulls are minus-4.6 (110.0-105.4). Both teams come into Tuesday having lost their last game. The Knicks took a 108-87 loss at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers Sunday. The Bulls lost 117-94 at home to the Houston Rockets.

In a coin flip game between two bad teams such as this, it’s never a bad idea to chase the value. Back the KNICKS at +190 and make a profit of $19 on a $10 bet should New York come away with the outright road win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

There’s still value on the KNICKS on the spread of +6.5 with -121 odds. The same $10 wager fetches an $8.26 return if they stay within six points in a loss or win outright. The Bulls’ three wins all came by margins of at least six points, but they’re just 4-6 overall against the spread and 2-2 at home. The Knicks are 5-5 ATS and 4-2 on the road.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 211.5 (+105). The Bulls and Knicks rank 28th and 29th, respectively, in true shooting percentage at rates of 52.2 and 51.0%. The Knicks also play to the league’s fifth-slowest pace at 99.85 possession per game.

New York is 2-8 against the Over/Under and falls an average of 7.1 points shy of the projection. Chicago is 4-6 against the projected totals while falling five points below the projection.

Timberwolves-Pistons odds: Minnesota a small road dog

Timberwolves at Pistons: Key injuries

Timberwolves at Pistons: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Timberwolves 114, Pistons 108

Moneyline (ML)

The +125 line for the visiting TIMBERWOLVES is quite inviting. Even with the Pistons’ anticipated return of PF Blake Griffin, there expects to be a decent amount of rust.

Can Detroit keep up with Minnesota? The Pistons have shown tendencies of having a tough time piling up points. Griffin will help but maybe not right away.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Timberwolves to win outright returns a profit of $12.50. Detroit has too much uncertainty and is a -150 favorite which seems a bit high.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The moneyline is a better play but a TIMBERWOLVES (+3.5, -106) pick is not a terrible choice. A Minnesota cover here (lose by three or fewer points or win outright) returns a profit of $9.43 on the same $10 wager.

Minnesota is 3-2 against the spread on the road with a higher point cover projection (plus-2.2 points per game). Detroit is 3-2 ATS at home but there’s just too much uncertainty with Griffin returning to the lineup.

Over/Under (O/U)

Let’s take the OVER 219.5 (+105). There is a tendency to acknowledge offense comes first over defense when players return. The two teams combine for around 224 points per game.
