Knicks at Raptors: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Raptors 106, Knicks 99

Moneyline (ML)

Both teams are riddled with injuries but the Raptors (-588) have still been able to rifle off four straight wins, and they remain undefeated at 7-0 on home court. The Knicks (+425) have lost three straight, but all by single digits. They’ve won just one of eight road games on the year with that victory coming Nov. 8, against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Raptors outscore their opponents by an average of 7.4 points per game (112.9-105.5) while the Knicks lose by an average of 6.6 PPG (108.6-102.0). Toronto will win at Scotiabank Arena, but these odds are far too chalky with a $10 bet returning a profit of just $1.70. The value lies with the spread when spotting the Knicks a couple handfuls of points.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The play is to back the KNICKS (+9.5, +105) to stay within nine points in a loss or win outright. They’re still getting plus money while being spotted such a large number and a $10 bet will fetch a profit of $10.50.

The Knicks are 9-8 against the spread overall and 5-3 on the road. The Raptors are 10-6 ATS overall and 6-1 at home, but just two of their last six victories were decided by 10 or more points. The Knicks have gone six straight games without losing by 10 or more.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Raptors are 9-7 against the Over/Under while topping the projected totals by an average of 0.3 points per game. The Knicks are 5-12 against the O/U and fall an average of 3.9 shy of the projections. Take the UNDER 211.5 (-105).

The Knicks have the interior presence to limit Raptors PF Pascal Siakam, who leads the team with 25.7 PPG. Lowry and Ibaka are the team’s second- and fourth-leading scorers and both are expected to remain out of the lineup. Toronto still has the depth to win, but it will be via a tighter, lower-scoring contest.

Clippers at Mavericks: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated Monday at 9:15 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Mavericks 107, Clippers 102

Moneyline (ML)

The MAVERICKS (100) have won five straight games and are 6-3 on home court. The Clippers (-121) have also won five straight, but they’re just 1-4 on the road. Both teams have been off since picking up a double-digit win Sunday. They haven’t faced each other yet this season and won’t meet again until Jan. 21 Dallas.

The Mavs beat the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers by 40-plus points before toppling the state rival Houston Rockets 137-123 their last time out. The Clips have won their last five games by margins ranging from two to 49 points.

Mavericks star SF Luka Doncic has led his team in scoring each of the last 12 games, and is averaging 30.6 points, 10.1 rebounds and 9.8 assists per game on the season. He and PF Kristaps Porzingis will go up against the Clippers’ duo of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard in a star-studded showdown. Back the home side to extend its winning streak while dealing LA its first loss since Nov. 14.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The Clippers are 9-8 ATS overall but they’re just 1-4 ATS on the road, matching their straight-up record as visitors. The Mavericks are 9-7 ATS overall but just 4-5 at home, although they cover by an average of 3.8 points per game at the AAC.

The host MAVERICKS (+1.5, -110) are the underdogs in what’s projected as a one-possession game. The moneyline has a greater profit margin, but the spread can also be played at near-even money.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet for the Mavericks to lose by a single point or win outright using the spread returns a profit of $9.09. The same bet for the straight-up win on the moneyline fetches a profit of $10.

Over/Under (O/U)

Back the UNDER 227.5 (-115) with Leonard and George likely to limit Doncic’s production, but exhausting themselves at the defensive end of the floor in the process.

The Mavericks are a league-best 12-4 against the O/U while topping the projected totals by an average of 10.1 points per game. The Clippers are just 7-10 against the number and fall an average of four points shy of the projected total.

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10:15 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Nuggets 118, Wizards 112

Moneyline (ML)

The Nuggets have won nine of their last 10 games and face a Washington team which has lost six of its previous 10. The Wizards allow a lot of points — particularly during the second halves of games which should allow Denver to push through with a win.

Our pick is with the NUGGETS (-455), albeit at a chalky price.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Denver returns a profit of only $2.20 with an outright win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Washington is 5-1-1 against the spread on the road and covers by nearly seven points per contest. Denver is only 4-5 ATS at home and fails to cover by 1.2 points per game.

Back WASHINGTON (+10.5, -129). The Wizards can keep this a close game with their ability to produce points in bunches.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 225.5. The Wizards are the key here. They allow just over 120 points per game while scoring 119.1. Also, Washington is seventh in possessions per game at 107.4 and tied for sixth on the road. It will be close but the OVER (-121) is the better play as the Wizards will drive the pace.

Previewing Monday’s Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors sports betting odds, with NBA betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Oklahoma City Thunder (5-10) face the Golden State Warriors (3-14) Monday night with tip-off coming just after 10:30 pm ET at Chase Center. We analyze the Thunder-Warriors odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

Thunder at Warriors: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 2:15 pm. ET.

Prediction

Thunder 113, Warriors 108

Moneyline (ML)

The two teams have combined for a woeful 8-24 record this year. Golden State’s injuries have taken a hard toll. The Thunder have been close to their opponents in terms of scoring while the Warriors have an average scoring differential of minus-10.4 points per game (worst in the NBA).

Our pick is with the THUNDER (-238).

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Oklahoma City returns a profit of $4.18 with an outright win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Neither team has covered spreads well this year, but Oklahoma City is 4-2 against the spread at on the road. Golden State is 2-5 ATS at home while falling four points below the cover line.

Oklahoma City tends to allow teams to hang around. Golden State could linger in this one and a small lean towards a WARRIORS (+5.5, +100) cover is our pick here.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 213.5. The two teams average fewer than 110 points per game but this could be an exception given Golden State plays to a higher pace (several possessions higher per quarter) at home. Oklahoma City will have to play along.

It is why we side with the OVER (-105) Monday night in Golden State.

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 2 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Celtics 114, Kings 104

Moneyline (ML)

The Celtics have dropped two straight while the Kings have won seven of their last 10 games following an 0-5 start. Boston will be without its starting point guard but it has a lot more depth than Sacramento.

The Celtics are 5-0 at home and have been solid for the most part, especially in closing out games.

Our pick is with the CELTICS (-278).

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Boston returns a profit of $3.60 with an outright win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Kinds’ recent run has them up to 9-6 against the spread but Boston is 3-1-1 ATS at home and 3.6 points per game above the cover line. The Kings are 5-3 ATS on the road but still 2.1 points below projections. It shows they can be blown out on occasion.

Back BOSTON (-5.5, -129). The Celtics will cover and win by six or more points.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 204.5. The Celtics average 110.7 points per game. The Kings average 105.5 points per game. Take the OVER (-115) on a low projection.

A $10 bet here on the over returns an $8.70 profit.

Lakers at Spurs: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated  10:15 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Lakers 121, Spurs 106

Moneyline (ML)

The LAKERS (-222) are road favorites as they come into AT&T Center on a seven-game winning streak and with a 6-1 road record for the season. They won their last two games on the road and beat the Memphis Grizzlies 109-108 Saturday.  The Spurs (+180) are 4-4 at home for the season and they most recently beat the New York Knicks 111-104 at Madison Square Garden to complete a four-game road trip with a 1-3 record.

Los Angeles outscores its opposition by an average of 111.9-103.1. Its plus-8.8 point differential ranks third in the NBA. San Antonio has been outscored by an average of 115.4-112.8. The visitors will take this one comfortably to extend their streak to eight straight victories.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The more profitable play is to back the LAKERS (-4.5, -115) to win by five or more points. A $10 bet will return a profit of $8.70.

LA is 9-7 against the spread overall but just 3-4 on the road; however, San Antonio is 4-13 ATS overall and a woeful 1-7 ATS at home. Nine of the Spurs’ 11 losses on the year were by margins of at least five points. Eleven of the Lakers’ 14 victories came by at least a five-point margin.

The Lakers cover by an average of 1.3 points per game while the Spurs fall an average of 5.1 points shy of the cover for the worst differential in the NBA.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 222.5 (-120) with the Lakers expected to handle the bulk of the scoring on the road. San Antonio is 11-6 against the Over/Under for the year and plays to an average of 6.7 points above the projected total, as its opponents lead the way with an average of 115.4 points per game. The Lakers are just 8-8 against the O/U, but they’ll have their way against the Spurs’ defense with close to a full lineup.

76ers at Raptors: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated 9:45 a.m. ET.

Prediction

76ers 108, Raptors 98

Moneyline (ML)

Both teams enter on winning streaks, with the Raptors (-110) taking three in a row and the SIXERS (-110) winning four straight. Toronto last beat the Atlanta Hawks 119-116 on the road Saturday. Philadelphia wrapped up a three-game homestand with a 113-86 rout of the Miami Heat.

The Raptors are a perfect 6-0 at home while the 76ers are 4-5 on the road. Toronto has the edge on offense with an average of 113.7 points per game to Philly’s 110.3 PPG, but the Sixers allow just 105.1 PPG to the Raptors’ 106.1 PPG allowed. The injuries to Lowry and Ibaka will cost the Raptors as they face their first opponent with a record better than .500 in over a week. Take the visitors in a pick ’em.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the 76ers to win outright returns a profit of $9.09.

Against the Spread (ATS)

Philly is 8-7 against the spread overall and 4-4 on the road. Toronto is 9-6 ATS overall and 5-1 on home court. Both teams are 5-5 ATS across their respective last 10 games. The Raptors have covered by an average of 6.4 points per game while the 76ers have covered by an average of just 0.6 points per game.

Again, with the injuries to Lowry and Ibaka, the 76ers will have the depth to pull out the outright win Monday. They’re a wiser pick on the moneyline with a greater profit margin than they are to cover the meager spread of +1.5 with -120 odds. The same $10 wager would return a profit of $8.33 with just one point of insurance in the event of a loss. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Raptors are 9-6 against the Over/Under and top the projected total by an average of 1.4 points per game. The 76ers are 8-8 against the number and fall an average of 0.4 points per game shy of the point total. Back the UNDER 214.5 (-115) with Toronto needing to rely more heavily on the bottom end of its bench without the two stars.

Brooklyn Nets at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s Brooklyn Nets at Cleveland Cavaliers sports betting odds and lines, with NBA betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Brooklyn Nets (8-8) and Cleveland Cavaliers (5-11) lock horns at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Monday at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Nets-Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

Nets at Cavaliers: Key injuries

Nets: PG Kyrie Irving (shoulder) will be sidelined until early December, and SG Caris LeVert (thumb) is out at least through the holidays.

Cavaliers: PF Kevin Love (back) is a question mark for Monday’s battle.

Nets at Cavaliers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 7:35 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Cavaliers 106, Nets 101

Moneyline (ML)

The CAVALIERS (-115) aren’t a huge risk as long as Love is on the floor. He has been in and out of the lineup due to a back ailment. The good news for the Cavs is the Nets (-106) won’t have the services of their old friend Irving.

New to sports betting? Every $1 wagered on a Cleveland win profits $0.87 if the Cavs prevail. (Ex: Bet $10 to win $8.70, $20 to win $17.40, $5.35 to win $10).

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Take the CAVALIERS (-1.5, –106) on their home floor. Even without Love, they have a more than decent chance of winning, although his inclusion gives them much better odds to win.

The Nets (+1.5, -115) are just too shorthanded right now, and they’re a very subpar basketball team with their two big offseason signings each in street clothes.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 217.5 (-110) is a great play, as the trends point to the Under for both sides. In fact, this is the best wager for this entire game. The Under has cashed in four in a row for Brooklyn, and seven of the past 10 in the second end of a back-to-back situation.

The Under is 5-2 in the past seven against the Eastern Conference for Cleveland, while going 4-0 in their past four after a cover and 7-1 in their past eight following a straight-up win.

Pelicans at Clippers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated 2:45 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Clippers 130, Pelicans 108

Moneyline (ML)

The Pelicans (+625) were without all of the above players Saturday against the Utah Jazz and it resulted in a 128-120 loss. The Clippers (-1000) last played Friday when their 122-119 home win over the Houston Rockets extended their streak to four straight victories.

The Clippers are 10-1 on their home court while the Pelicans are 2-6 on the road. L.A. outscores the opposition by an average of 113.0-107.2. New Orleans is outscored by an average of 3.2 points per game (119.6-116.4). The home side wins this handily but it’s far too chalky with a $10 bet returning a profit of just $1.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The Clippers enter the day at 8-8 overall ATS but 7-4 at home. The Pelicans are also 8-8 overall but 3-5 on the road. Los Angeles covers the spread by an average of 1.8 points per game while New Orleans falls an average of 0.3 points per game short of the projections.

Los Angeles has won by 12 or more three times this season, including a 150-101 thrashing of Atlanta last Saturday. Two of New Orleans’ last four losses were by margins of at least 12 points. Back the CLIPPERS (-13.5, -106) with the points against a tired and injury-riddled road opponent.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 230.5 (-129). The Pelicans gave up at least 120 points in each of their last two road games and the defense will be even weaker on the second half of the back-to-back. The Clippers average 113 points per game, and they dropped 122 Friday night.

New Orleans is 9-7 against the projected totals and covers the number by an average of 4.3 points per game. Los Angeles falls an average of 4.9 points below the projections but it will be able to handle the bulk of the scoring against the Pelicans’ defense.

Prediction

Nets 107, Knicks 96

Moneyline (ML)

The NETS (-139) have enough firepower to easily get past the rival Knicks, even without Irving. The Knicks won’t have much of a home-court advantage and they enter Sunday off of a 111-104 loss to the San Antonio Spurs Saturday at MSG. The Nets haven’t played since winning 116-97 over the Sacramento Kings on Friday.

Brooklyn is 2-5 on the road while New York is 3-5 at home. The Nets won 113-109 in the first meeting between the two this season in Brooklyn. Irving led the way with 26 points and five assists, but four other players scored in double figures for the Nets.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on Brooklyn to win outright fetches a profit of $7.20.

Against the Spread (ATS)

Get slightly better value with the NETS (-1.5, -121) on the spread. They’ll need to win by just two or more points, as they did in late October and in all seven of their victories on the season.

Brooklyn is 7-8 overall ATS and 3-4 ATS on the road. New York is 8-8 overall but just 3-5 at MSG. Only one of the Knicks’ losses this season was by a single point.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 213.5 (-106) as this game is missing the best player for either side in Irving. The Knicks are second-to-last in the league with an Over percentage of just 31.2. They’ve gone 5-11 against the projected totals and fall an average of 3.4 points shy of the number.
