Super Bowl 2023: Staff picks, best bets and the most fun props for Chiefs-Eagles

This is what you came for!

What more can we say about Super Bowl LVII?

The Chiefs and Eagles were undoubtedly two of the most dominant teams in the NFL all season. They deserve to play on this stage.

Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts are two of the most exciting quarterbacks around. Their respective supporting casts matchup exceptionally well. And the connections between the two teams run deep.

All that’s left to do is make your pick and cash the ticket.

The staff at For The Win just happens to have very different ideas on which bets you should place.

Here are our definitive picks.

2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Best bets, fantasy one and done picks, and more

Jordan Spieth missed a win by two strokes last year. Is the Pebble Beach Pro-Am his to lose in 2023?

The PGA Tour’s West Coast swing is fully underway. Before the chaotic madness of the WM Phoenix Open kicks into gear next week, the Pebble Beach Pro-Am will offer plenty of intrigue and drama—if not a few lighter moments from the amateur pool—as the first tournament in February.

Fresh off his win at the Farmers Insurance Open, Max Homa won’t be at Pebble Beach, but plenty of Tour stalwarts like Jordan Spieth, Viktor Hovland and Matthew Fitzpatrick highlight an eclectic field.

Spieth will look to avenge his second-place finish from last year after finishing two strokes behind Tom Hoge.

While Hoge (+2000) is back in the field this year, the tournament hasn’t seen a repeat winner since Dustin Johnson went back-to-back in 2009-2010.

So who’s claiming the title this year and which bets should you place?

The crew at FTW has some ideas.

2023 Sony Open odds, field notes, best bets and picks to win

Tom Kim and Waialae seem to be a match made in Heaven.

After a beautiful (and heartbreaking, but we’ll get to that later) week in Maui, it’s time to head over to another island for the Sony Open. Defending champion Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth and Tom Kim highlight a solid field bound for the PGA Tour’s second event of the new year.

Waialae Country Club is a marksman’s paradise — a par-70 track measuring just more than 7,000 yards that requires accuracy on every shot.

Kim enters the week as the betting favorite at +1000 followed by Sungjae Im at +1300 and Spieth at +1500. The 20-year-old is coming off a T-5 performance at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions odds, field, best bets and picks to win

Can Cameron Young finally break through in Hawaii?

Golf. It’s back.

After a month of hit and giggles and zero action, the PGA Tour returns in a big way on the island of Hawaii this week for the Sentry Tournament of Champions, the Tour’s first elevated event of 2023.

Due to its higher status, the field is jam-packed with the best golfers in the world — other than the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Ranking. Players are allowed to miss one elevated event per season and Rory McIlroy is cashing his in early and will not tee it up in Kapalua.

Jon Rahm, last year’s runner-up, enters as the betting favorite at +650, followed by Scottie Scheffler at +900.

Cam Smith, the defending champion, is not in the field for obvious reasons.

Best bets for every bowl game, Pt. 2 (pre-New Year’s Six bowls)

Part 2 of our best bets for bowl season.

After a day off, bowl season picks right back up on Monday with the Quick Lane Bowl between New Mexico State and Bowling Green. That means its time for me to pick things up where I left off in Pt. 1 of my best bets for bowl season.

For those who tailed my previous picks, it’s been a good time. I’ve been picking a lot more winners than losers, and I hope to keep the good fortune on my side for 16 more bowl-game picks all the way up until the first NY6 bowl on Friday night.

Before we get into the picks, here’s a look at where things stand:

Best bets for every bowl game, Pt. 1 (pre-Christmas Day bowls)

Part 1 of our picks for all 43 bowl games.

Bowl season is officially upon us, and there is something for everybody. In fact, some might say there are too many bowls — or so many that most end up being just exhibitions.

I’m not going to sit here and disagree. But if you can’t find something to enjoy from any of these games, college football just might not be your thing.

An alternative way to get invested is through a little betting action. And because most people don’t have time to research 43 different games, I did it for you.

Starting with every bowl before Christmas, these are my best bets for each game. Check back later for the remaining bowls.

Rhode Island Scumbag NFL Locks, Week 15: Backing the Vikings (when it doesn’t matter)

Let’s regroup after a tough week and go back to what works: home underdogs in divisional games and the Vikings when it doesn’t matter.

Last week, I wondered aloud whether it was time to trust the Seattle Seahawks, who were a meager 3.5-point favorite against the Carolina Panthers at home. The football gods answered in resounding fashion, crafting a game in which Sam Darnold barely registered through the air and it did not matter. Carolina ran for 223 yards and the final 30-24 score failed to reflect how badly Seattle botched things.

This was endemic of a horrible betting week for myself and our resident handicapper, the Rhode Island Scumbag. We threw out five NFL picks between us. One hit; the New England Patriots at -1 thanks in large part to Kyler Murray’s ACL deciding enough was enough early in the first quarter. This string of ineffective Sundays has us both reeling. While we’re both on the sunny side of .500, neither one of us has hit that coveted 55 percent win percentage that makes this whole exercise profitable.

Which means it’s time for a change. The Scumbag System ™ has run out of gas; its brief life as a betting phenomenon has changed the way sportsbooks set lines forever and now we must adjust. This is absolutely what happened and we will not be taking questions on the matter, thank you.

What a terrible week for the Rhode Island Scumbag [Ed. note: Things are either really good or really bad if he’s referring to himself in the third person. This is the latter]. That week was so awful, that I’m actually taking the rest of the season off.

I’m going to regroup, watch the games from a different lens and then be ready to hammer the playoffs with a full bankroll intact. I am NOT going to chase two bad weeks of losses by having a third losing week. Sometimes when you’re a degenerate, you get too close to the action and can’t really see the game of football for what it is. You only focus on the spread, total and props that you are sweating.

That’s … surprisingly reasonable! But just because he’s not betting doesn’t mean we don’t have recommendations for you. You know, if you still trust us after a grim couple of weeks.

2022 Hero World Challenge odds, field notes, best bets and picks to win

Hoping for big things from the new dad and the newlywed.

If we’re being honest with ourselves, the 2022 Hero World Challenge got a whole lot less interesting Monday when tournament-host Tiger Woods withdrew from the field due to plantar fasciitis. This week was going to be the first time Woods has stepped on a golf course on national television since the 150th Open Championship, where a tough Thursday led to a missed weekend.

Despite the injury, Woods’ plan is to play in the Match VII and the PNC Championship.

All is not lost, however, as many of the world’s best are teeing it up in Albany, The Bahamas, including Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas. Viktor Hovland, who won in 2021, is also in the field.

Hero: Thursday tee times, how to watch

5 player prop bet picks for Jaguars vs. Chiefs in Week 10

Are you taking the over or under on 23.5 completions for Trevor Lawrence?

The Kansas City Chiefs like to drag teams into deep water and drown them. The Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs offense leads the NFL in scoring and that’s enough to win more often than not, despite a defense that ranks below the league average.

For the Jacksonville Jaguars to spring the upset, they’ll have to avoid getting pulled into the shootout they’re probably ill-equipped to win against the Chiefs.

But for bettors, that kind of game means opportunity. The Jaguars and Chiefs are likely to stuff the box score with stats and that makes for a lot of player props hitting the over.

Here are five player prop picks from Tipico Sportsbook for what could turn into a high-scoring duel at Arrowhead Stadium:

5 player prop picks for Giants vs. Jaguars in Week 7

Will Trevor Lawrence have over or under 223.5 passing yards today?

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”3DU1ww5VxP-2308998-7498″]

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been wildly unpredictable through the first six weeks of the season.

In a Week 5 loss to the Houston Texans, the team racked up a season-best 422 total yards of offense, but couldn’t score a single touchdown in a 13-6 loss. A week later, the defense couldn’t get off the field in a 34-27 loss against an Indianapolis Colts team it shut out earlier in the season.

When the Jaguars offense and defense are both running on all cylinders, the team has had spectacular results. Getting those units to actually complement one another for an entire game has been a challenge.

That said, with six weeks of evidence showing who the Jaguars are, here are five player prop bets that stand out for the team’s Week 7 home game against the New York Giants:
